Film review: Zootopia

This week it was time for the movies and we watched the animation film Zootopia (in german it was called Zoomania).

The story is about a version of the world where animals can talk, behave like humans and - very important to the plot - predators and prey live side by side peacefully.

This premise is also played out at the beginnin of the movie at a school's play by the heroein of the story - the bunny - Judy Hopps. Her dream is it to become a police officer when she's grown up. She would then be the first rabbit on the police force.

And since Judy is very ambitious, she makes it after some minor setbacks. But this is not the end of it, since once she started at the precinct her colleagues and her boss don't take her seriously and she ends up being assigned parking duty. Only a string of luck and a missing otter help her to get her hopes up again. She has got 48 hours to find the otter and solve her first case. Together with the con artist Nick Wilde - a fox - she has to solve this unusual case - which has more to it than meets the eye.

It is a very well made animation movie by Disney Studios. It's entertainment value is good for both kids and adults, since there are many different layers and elements of fun - for example the Godfather Mr. Big.

Although we were forced to watch the movie in 3D - there were no other options at the UCI - it was not worth it. So scenes had nice 3D effects in it, but overall it was just a normal animation film.

Conclusion: a very well made and entertaining movie - go and watch it!
