Film review: Jupiter Ascending

Since it was our last day together with our guests, we spent the morning playing one last game - Lords of Waterdeep - before we drove them safely to the airport in a very ugly snowstorm. In the meantime they have arrived at home in one piece.

Since it was also our monday we usual spend at the movies and there was one in particular we wanted to see we went straight the Milleniumtower after going to the airport to watch Jupiter Ascending.

Jupiter is a poor young woman with russian parents, who cleans other people's houses together with her family. But onw day everything changes as aliens try to threaten and kill her, but she is being rescued by yet another alien. After that nothing is the same anymore and she's going on adventures which might cost her her life.

Well the story isn't very original - it's basically Cinderella in space. The images are quite nice to look at, but they don't improve the movie that much that you can say it's worth watching and the actors aren't very talented either.

Conclusion: the movie is a kind of science fiction fairy tale - thankfully withour songs - but that's about it really. Too often the classical elements of a drama are used - like the last second rescue for example - so that this movie isn't very plausible at all. Well it's a popcorn movie with very little brain activity needed - so if you like that you might try your luck with that movie.
