Lights and pixels

Yesterday was a quiet day, we just went grocery shopping for sylvester and in the afternoon we played Lanterns.

In the evening we wanted to watch a movie and unfortunately decided on Pixels. Now we have much less alcohol in the cupboard, but we needed that to survive the movie session.

Gestern war ein eher ruhiger Tag, wir waren einkaufen für Silvester und dann haben wir am Nachmittag Lichterfest gespielt.

Am Abend wollten wir uns dann einen Film im Heimkino anschauen und haben leider Pixels gewählt. Jetzt sind wir um einige Alkoholika ärmer, aber das haben wir gebraucht um den Film durchzustehen.

Boardgaming

This sunday we had to do our chores and then we went to Alte Donau to retrieve our supply of drinks before the winter comes.

In the afternoon we went to dear friends for a boardgame afternoon. There we played Arboretum, Roll for the Galaxy and Lichterfest.

Back home again the cats wanted to be the center of attention and so we fed them and entertained them before we were allowed to go to bed.

Am Sonntag stand die Hausarbeit an und dann sind wir noch auf die Alte Donau gefahren und haben unsere Getränkevorräte vor dem Winter abgeholt.

Am Nachmittag sind wir dann zu lieben Freunden zu einem Brettspielnachmittag eingeladen worden. Dort haben wir dann Arboretum, Roll for the Galaxy und Lichterfest gespielt.

Wieder zuhause angekommen sind wir dann von den Katzen überfallen worden und nachdem wir sie gefüttert und bespasst hatten, durften wir auch schlafen gehen.

Boardgaming

This saturday we were invited to a boardgame afternoon with friends. But before we started playing we "had to eat" some icecream from Tichy.

The first game we played was Lanterns: The Harvest Festival. In the game you have to place colored tiles, in a way that you get more from the placement than the other players. Because each player gets at least one card for each placed pile, unless the color stack is already depleted.

Even the son of our friends played the game and I think everyone liked it.

In between games and eating dinner we played a game of Zombie Dice, again with the son of our friends.

After that we had a huge amount of grilled food to eat, so we started playing again quite late. The game we chose next was Telsa vs.Edison, but because I misread a rule it quickly turned very ugly and we had to stop playing the game. I really liked the basic idea and I hope that we will be trying it again.

The conclusion of the day was XCOM: The Board Game. This has to be played with an app or a computer, as the app is giving out the instructions as to what to do when. We failed miserably at both the "easy" turorial and the first real mission and now the earth is doomed to be overrun by aliens.

Am Samstag war wieder ein Brettspielnachmittag bei Freunden angesagt. Zuvor haben wir uns allerdings noch mit Eisknödeln vom Tichy die Bäuche vollgeschlagen.

Das erste Spiel des Tages war Lichterfest. Dabei geht es darum, dass man farbige Laternenplättchen so anlegen sollte, dass man den besten Effekt davon trägt und gleichzeitig den Mitspielern nicht zu sehr hilft, denn jedes angelegte Plättchen bringt jedem Mitspieler eine Karte, außer die entsprechende Farbe ist bereits aufgebraucht.

Auch der Sohn unserer Freunde hat begeistert bei dem Spiel mitgemacht und es hat eigentlich allen gefallen.

Als Pausenfüller beim zum Grillen haben wir dann eine Partie Zombie Dice, ebenfalls mit dem Sohn der Freunde.

Danach haben wir ausgiebig gegessen und erst viel später ging es dann mit dem Spielen weiter. Als nächstes stand Telsa vs.Edison am Plan, doch weil ich eine Regel falsch interpretiert hatte ist das Spiel sehr schnell aus der Bahn gelaufen und wir haben es abbrechen müssen. Mir hat es gefallen und ich hoffe wir werden es noch einmal spielen können.

Zum Abschluss des Abends haben wir dann noch XCOM: The Board Game gespielt. Hierzu wird eine App oder ein Computer benötigt, der die passenden Anweisungen gibt was zu tun ist. Sowohl beim "einfachen" Tutorial als auch beim ersten echten Spiel hat uns allerdings das Würfelglück verlassen und so hat das Ganze in einem Desaster für die Erde geendet.

Busy saturday

Yesterday we were quite active. First we picked up my mother-in-law after breakfast and we went to the Garten Tulln exibition. Here are some of the pictures I took, the rest can be found in an album which is located here.

After that we went home and relaxed a bit. Then I baked a quick redcurrant cake before we went to Alte Donau for the so called Lichterfest (light festival). I also took some pictures, for the whole album click here.

After that we went home yet again and fell straight into our beds.

Gestern waren wir viel unterwegs. Zunächst haben wir meine Schwiegermutter nach dem Frühstück abgeholt und sind gemeinsam mit ihr zur Garten Tulln Messe gefahren. Hier ein paar Eindrücke davon, ein komplettes Album gibt es natürlich auch und zwar hier.

Danach sind wir wieder nach Hause gefahren und wir haben uns etwas ausgerastet. Danach habe ich noch schnell einen Ribiselkuchen gebacken und dann sind wir zum Lichterfest auf die Alte Donau gefahren. Auch hier gibt es ein kleines Album mit mehr Bildern und zwar hier.

Danach sind wir abermals nach Hause gefahren und fast augenblicklich ins Bett gefallen.
