NFL on Mars?

Yesterday we had friends over for boardgaming and we played a game of Terraforming Mars.

Afterwards it was the weekly NFL game on the couch and after that one episode of a tv show.

Gestern hatten wir Freunde zum Brettspielen bei uns zu Gast und wir haben eine Partie Terraforming Mars gespielt.

Danach ging es dann zu sonntäglichen NFL Spiel auf die Couch und später dann gab es noch eine Folge einer Fernsehserie.

Cats and Mars

Yesterday I went out to the vet to buy food and meds for our cats. After that we also went grocery shopping for our lunch.

In the afternoon we then played a two player game of Terraforming Mars, where Mars was very well settled I think.

In the evening we again went onto the couch for tv shows as usual.

Gestern war ich für die Katzen Futter und Medikamente einkaufen. Danach haben wir auch uns versorgt und unser Mittagessen besorgt.

Am Nachmittag ging es dann zu einer Zweier-Partie Terraforming Mars, wo der Mars schon sehr gut besiedelt wurde.

Am Abend schlussendlich dann wieder Fernsehserien auf der Couch.

Boardgaming forever

This saturday we went grocery shopping for the weekend before we went to friends of ours, with some icecream from Tichy, but we were not the only ones that had this idea on a rather sunny day...

The boardgame afternoon was quite funny and we played the following games: Between two castles of Mad King Ludwig, Meeple Circus, Checkpoint Charlie, Straw and finally a very long game of Terraforming Mars.

Am Samstag waren wir zunächst für das Wochenende einkaufen und dann - auf dem Weg zu lieben Freunden - noch beim Tichy Eis besorgen. Leider war es ein sehr warmer Tag, sodass wir nicht allein angestellt waren.

Der Brettspielnachmittag war dann sehr lustig und wir haben folgende Spiele gespielt: Zwischen zwei Schlössern, Meeple Circus, Checkpoint Charlie, Straw und zum Abschluss eine lange Partie Terraforming Mars.

Some boardgaming done

Yesterday we first went grocery shopping for the weekend and in the afternoon friends came by for boardgaming - we played Las Vegas and Terraforming Mars.

After that we had a great dinner and afterwards we were too tired to play any more boardgames, so we showed them our norway cruise presentation.

Then we just went to bed, once our guests left us, but not before we had to entertain the cats a lot and feed them.

Gestern waren wir zunächst für das Wochenende einkaufen und am Nachmittag kamen Freunde zum Brettspielen vorbei. Gespielt haben wir dann Las Vegas und Terraforming Mars.

Danach gab es ein gutes Abendessen und dann haben wir ihnen noch unsere Norwegen Kreuzfahrt Präsentation gezeigt, nachdem wir schon alle etwas zu müden waren um noch etwas zu spielen.

Als sie dann gegangen waren, sind wir nur mehr ins Bett gefallen, nachdem die Katzen bespasst und gefüttert wurden.

Stuff happening (includes @unserepost)

Yesterday was the first working day after the christmas vacation and it went rather ok.

Since our guest was celebrating his birthday as well and since he "surprised" us with a scavenger hunt at christmas, we decided to return the favor. He still is looking for the next clues...

I got two packages delivered at work during the christmas vacation, so I took them home yesterday. The first one was the long expected dice sets from Q-Workshop. But I again had my share of "luck" here, since instead of four different dice sets I got two each of two different ones...

The second package consisted of boardgame inserts made from wood and they are really cool. The first I put together was for Terraforming Mars and the result is rather stunning. The following picture was taken from the homepage of the manufacturer The Broken Token.

In the evening there was also a very positive phone call from our vet: our pussy cat reacted very well to the treatment earlier last year and now her lab results are all within the normal ranges. She still has to eat the special food, but unless our tom cat, she doesn't need to take the extra pills.

Last but not least the post service sent me a letter concerning my inquiry from last week, but of course not helping me in any way. They told me that the inquiry (made by the postal service employee) was not valid and that I need to do start an investigation myself. (sarkasm)So thanks again for the professional help at the desk!!(/sarkasm)

Gestern war der erste Arbeitstag nach den Weihnachtsferien und es ging einigermaßen.

Nachdem unser Gast Geburtstag hatte und er uns zu Weihnachten mit einer Schnitzeljagd "überrascht" hat, haben wir uns gedacht das können wir auch. Er sucht heute immer noch nach den weiteren Hinweisen...

Ich habe über die Feiertage auch zwei Paket in die Arbeit zugeschickt bekommen, die ich mir gestern mit nach Hause genommen habe. Das erste hat die lange erwarteten Q-Workshop Würfel. Hier habe ich allerdings wieder "Glück" gehabt, da es eigentlich vier verschiedene hätten sein sollen und ich jeweils zwei gleiche geliefert bekommen habe...

Das zweite Paket hat Brettspiel-Inserts aus Holz gebracht und die sind wirklich sehr cool. Das erste was ich zusammengestellt habe war für Terraforming Mars und das macht wirklich einen Unterschied. Das nachfolgende Bild ist von der Hersteller Homepage von The Broken Token.

Dann gab es am Abend auch noch einen positiven Anruf von der Tante Tierarzt: unsere Mieze-Katze hat gut auf die Behandlung angesprochen und ihre Werte sind jetzt alle im Normalbereich. Sie muss zwar weiterhin das Diätfutter fressen, braucht aber nicht wie der Kater auch noch zusätzlich Tabletten.

Last but not least hat sich auch schon die Post auf meine Beschwerde gemeldet, allerdings nicht sehr hilfreich. Ich habe einen Brief bekommen, dass die (von der Schalterbeamtin) angeschriebene Stelle nichts machen kann und ich solle doch eine Nachforschung starten. Boardgaming again!

This sunday we slept longer and when we were up I made us some nice breakfast.

Afterwards we started our boardgame afternoon, where we only were able to play two games this time.

We started with Near and Far which is an adventure game where the players recruit adventurers and solve quest on the board. Again this game had a lot of rules, but once you actually play it it all makes sense and it's rather easy to play.

We really liked the game and I guess we'll be playing if again soon, this time in the campaign or character mode.

After that it was time to introduce our guest to one of our favorite games of all time: Terraforming Mars. I think he really liked it as well and just to note, my dear won by a rather huge amount of points with her army of scientists.

In the evening we just went onto the couch and watched the latest episodes of Celebrity MasterChef.

Am Sonntag haben wir länger geschlafen und ich habe uns ein gutes Frühstück gezaubert.

Danach haben wir dann mit dem nächsten Brettspielnachmittag angefangen, wo sich allerdings nur zwei Spiele ausgegangen sind.

Begonnen haben wir mit Near and Far einem kompetitiven Abenteuerspiel, bei dem die Spieler versuchen Abenteurer zu rekrutieren und Abenteuer zu bestehen. Auch hier waren die Regeln sehr umfangreich, aber wenn man einmal im Spiel drinnen ist, dann ist es recht einfach zu verstehen.

Wir sind sehr von dem Spiel angetan und werden wahrscheinlich als nächstes den Kampagnen- oder Charakter-Modus probieren.

Danach ging es daran unserem Gast eines unserer Lieblingsspiele - Terraforming Mars - zu zeigen und auch er war davon sehr angetan. Mein Schatz hat diesmal übrigens haushoch mit ihren Wissenschaftlern gewonnen.

Am Abend dann ging es noch zu den aktuellen Folgen von Celebrity MasterChef auf die Couch.

Boardgaming - especially Telestrations/Stille Post Extrem again

Yesterday it was boardgame afternoon at our place again and we started with some quick games.

First up was The Duke, which I played together with a friend since my dear was still preparing food and the other guests hadn't arrived yet. We played two quick games, but I think it was quite enjoyable.

After that we bought and sold real estate with For Sale. The game was quick and something of a casual play.

Then we went on to the main event of the afternoon - Terraforming Mars wasp played. Although my scientists were utterly useless this time, we all had blast playing the game.

Then we had dinner with some great pulled pork and after that we continued gaming with Tanz der Hornochsen! Playing number cards and avoid stepping into cow dung is the whole point of the game - not that entertainifn to be honest.

After that it became even stranger with Emotify - describing people, things and feelings with emojis and the rest of the team has to guess the thin was funny for about 10 minutes and will not be repeated any time soon.

We then had a lot of laughs in the end with several rounds of Relestrations and here are some of the highlights:

Gestern war wieder ein Brettspielnachmittag bei uns und wir haben mit kleineren Spielen begonnen.

Da war zunächst The Duke, was ich gemeinsam mit einem Freund gespielt habe, während mein Schatz noch das Essen vorbereitet hatte und die restlichen Gäste noch nicht eingetroffen waren. Zwei relativ schnelle Partien, aber ich glaube es hat durchaus gefallen.

Danach haben wir Häuser gekauft und verkauft in For Sale. Das Spiel ging auch recht schnell und ist eher etwas für casual play.

Danach sind wir dann zum Hauptevent des Nachmittag gekommen - Terraforming Mars wurde gespielt. Und obwohl meine Wissenschaftler diesmal keinen Durchbruch auf irgendeinem Gebiet erringen konnten, hatten wir alle viel Spaß dabei.

Danach gab es gutes Pulled Pork in Burgerform als Abendessen und dann ging es gleich weiter mit dem Tanz der Hornochsen! Möglichst zufällig Zahlen platzieren und nicht in den Kuhmist steigen ist die Anforderung an dieses Spiel - was wir nur mäßig interessant gefunden haben.

Dann wurde es noch eine Spur seltsamer als wir Emotify gespielt haben - Personen, Dinge und Gefühle mit Emojis ausdrücken und vom Team erraten lassen. Der Spielspaß hat ca. 10 Minuten gedauert und wird vermutlich keine Wiederholung finden.

Zum humoristischen Abschluss des Spielenachmittags haben wir dann wieder etliche Runden Stille Post Extrem gespielt und hier sind die Highlights davon:
