Yesterday I finalized the PDF from the WYFA workshop and put it online for sale: A Fishy Business

The rest of the day I did the chores and drove my dear to her massage session.

In the evening we were on the couch until it was cool enough to go to sleep.

Den Rest des Tages habe ich dann Hausarbeit gemacht und meinen Schatz zur Massage geführt.

Am Abend war dann wieder die Couch angesagt bis es in der Nacht kühl genug war um schlafen zu gehen.

The PDF is done!

Yesterday I finished writing and generating my WYFA PDF. Now friends of mine will proofread it and find a lot of typos and other mistakes before I'll release it on Wednesday or Thursday this week. Perhaps some people will pay money for it, let's just hope.

Otherwise I brought my dear to Reumannplatz, where she had the annual checkup of her hearing aid.

In the evening it was couch time and we tried to cool down the flat a bit.

Gestern habe ich mein WYFA PDF fertig geschrieben und abgeschlossen. Jetzt lesen noch ein paar Freunde drüber und finden hoffentlich sehr viele (Tipp)Fehler und dann werde ich es Mittwoch oder Donnerstag online stellen und hoffentlich finden sich ein paar Leute, die dafür Geld bezahlen.

Ansonsten habe ich Hausarbeit gemacht und meinen Schatz am Nachmittag zu Reumannplatz gebracht, wo sie das Jahresservice ihres Hörgerätes hatte.

Am Abend waren wir dann wieder auch der Couch und haben die Wohnung etwas abkühlen lassen.

On track again

Yesterday at work I had not much to do so I continued writing for my WYFA workshop project.

In the evening we went home quickly and had cold dinner before we went onto the couch.

Gestern war im Geschäft nicht soviel los, sodass ich wieder dazu gekommen bin am WYFA Workshop Projekt weiter zu schreiben.

Am Abend sind wir dann schnell nach Hause gefahren und haben uns ein kaltes Abendessen gemacht, bevor es dann auf die Couch ging.

Chores all day long

Yesterday I spent most of the day doing chores. That's why iwas didn't have enough energy left to write for the WYFA workshop. Fortunately the next days it should get a bit colder.

In the evening it was time for the couch.

Gestern habe ich den meisten Teil des Tages mit Hausarbeit verbracht, sodass ich dann auch keine Energie mehr hatte etwas für den WYFA Workshop zu schreiben. Zum Glück wird es ja jetzt ein bisschen kühler.

Am Abend waren wir dann wieder auf der Couch und haben dort den Tag ausklingen lassen.

A day to relax

Yesterday I took a day off of the WYFA workshop, but today I'll continue the last week until at the end of it a PDF document should be ready.

From noon on we were at Alte Donau with dear friends and we did some barbecuing and boardgaming.

Late in the evening we came home and entertained the cats and then we went to bed.

Gestern habe ich einen Tag Pause vom WYFA Workshop gemacht, dafür geht es heute in vollem Tempo weiter, denn am Ende der Woche sollte das PDF fertig sein.

Ab Mittag waren wir mit lieben Freunden an der Alten Donau und haben gegrillt und brettgespielt.

Spät am Abend waren wir dann wieder zuhause und haben die Katzen bespasst und dann ging es ins Bett.

It's tested now!

Yesterday was the last day of actual advice on the WYFA workshop. The last we us participants now have time to apply the lessons to our finished product and complete the adventure.

Because of this some friends of mine helped me out to playtest my scenario and I think they all had fun doing so. I got some good feedback and know now what can be improved to make it better.

Afterwards we played some boardgames on the Boardgamearena and following that we went onto the couch.

Gestern war, wie schon vermutet, der WYFA Workshop so gut wie aus. Die letzte Woche bleibt uns Teilnehmern nun das gelehrt umzusetzen und das Abenteuer fertig zu schreiben.

Aus diesem Grund fand gestern auch das Playtesten mit Freunden statt und ich denk es hat alles Spaß gemacht und ich habe gutes Feedback bekommen, wie ich einige Sachen verbessern kann.

Danach haben wir dann noch gemeinsam auf der Boardgamearena gespielt und danach ging es auf die Couch.

Get the marketing campaign going

Yesterday was the last big lesson on the WYFA workshop: marketing. Although I doubt that my scenario will be an instant hit, there were some interesting suggestions in the lesson that I might use in the next few months.

In the afternoon we went to Alten Donau and did a lot of watering, as the weather is still just one thing: hot.

Finally in the evening it was couch time and we watched a new movie on Netflix: The Gray Man.

Gestern war die letzte große Lektion vom WYFA Workshop: Marketing. Obwohl ich nicht glaube, dass mein Szenario der Verkaufshit wird, sind schon ein paar gute Tipps dabei gewesen, die man die nächsten Monate anwenden könnte.

Am Nachmittag sind wir dann zur Alten Donau gefahren und haben gegossen, nachdem das Wetter immer noch nur heiß ist.

Schlußendlich sind wir dann am Abend wieder auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns einen neuen Film auf Netflix angeschaut: The Gray Man.

Moody documents

The last session of the design topic on the WYFA workshop was about choosing the right color and pattern for the document. I will be looking into that after the playtest session on saturday, when I will be beginning to design the PDF.

During the day we stayed inside, safe for a quick trip, to survive the current heat wave.

In the evening it was couch and cats until it was cool enough outside to finally open some windows again.

In der letzten Lektion zum Thema Design vom WYFA Workshop ging es um die richtige Farbe bzw. das richtige Muster im Dokument. Das werde ich mir dann nach der Playtest Session am Samstag genauer anschauen, wenn ich das PDF beginne zu designen.

Untertags sind wir - bis auf eine Ausnahme - zuhause geblieben und haben versucht die Hitze gut zu überstehen.

Am Abend dann wieder Couch mit Katzen bis es draußen kühl genug geworden ist die Fenster wieder zu öffnen.

Cover this up

A big step towards the finished end product is the cover and this marks yesterday's lesson of the WYFA workshop. Although the titel is not final, I found the picture I want to use and the font.

At work it was pleasant enough although the weather was extremely hot, but we had some customers nevertheless.

In the evening I picked up my dear from Alten Donau and then wen went home to the cats and the couch.

Ein weiterer Schritt Richtung Endprodukt ist das Cover und damit die gestrige Lektion auf dem WYFA Workshop. Obwohl der Titel von meinem Abenteuer noch nicht final ist, habe ich zumindest das Bild und den Font bereits gewählt.

In der Arbeit war es trotz extremer Hitze erträglich und es sind auch einige Kunden gekommen.

Am Abend habe ich meinen Schatz von der Alten Donau abgeholt und dann ging es nach Hause zu den Katzen und auf die Couch.

Heat wave incoming

Since more than half of the WYFA workshop has passed, the preparations for the final stages begins. In case of yesterday's session it's playtesting and by the looks of it mine will take place this saturday. In any case I completed writing section 1 (of 8) yesterday.

At work there were not a lot of customers, but those that came bought rather generously and so that whole day was ok.

In the evening, after a quick dinner, it was cat entertaining and then onto the couch.

Nachdem schon mehr als die Hälfte vom WYFA Workshop vorbei ist, beginnen schon die Vorbereitung für den Abschluß. Konkret bedeutet es, dass jetzt Playtesting beginnen wird und wahrscheinlich werde ich diesen Samstag dazu kommen. Auf jeden Fall habe ich heute Sektion 1 (von 8) fertig geschrieben.

In der Arbeit war zwar nicht viel los, aber die wenigen Kunden waren sehr zahlungskräftig und somit war der Tag ok.

Am Abend, nach einem schnellen Abendessen, dann noch Katzenbespassung und ab auf die Couch.

Working hard on the day off

At the WYFA workshop we continued with the layout and features of the finished PDF document. This lession will be done by me later, since I'm still missing a fair amount of text and I should find some time next week to do those things.

We were at the in-laws and helped with clearing the house. Afterwards we had to do some stuff for ourselves as well and then finally we returned home to the cats.

Beim WYFA Workshop ging es weiter mit wie das PDF Dokument am besten für alle Bedürfnisse gestaltet werden soll. Die Lektion kann ich leider noch nicht machen, weil mir noch etwas Text und Zeit fehlt, aber beides sollte nächste Woche dann kein Problem sein.

Wir waren bei meinen Schwiegereltern und haben beim Hausausräumen geholfen. Danach haben wir noch eigene Besorgungen gemacht und dann erst ging es wieder nach Hause zu den Katzen.

Barbecue on sunday

Yesterday's session of the WYFA workshop was about design decisions for the final (pdf) product and tools for the first time.

At noon we went to Alte Donau to meet with friends for a barbecue.

And in the evening it was cat entertain time followed by couch time.

In der gestrigen Lektion vom WYFA Workshop ging es erstmals um die Designentscheidung beim fertigen (PDF) Produkt und um die richtige Wahl der Tools.

Zu Mittag sind wir zur Alten Donau gefahren, wo wir uns mit Freunden zum Grillen getroffen haben.

Am Abend wurden die Katzen bespasst und dann ging es auf die Couch.

Trip to the parents

The weekly goal of the WYFA workshop was 1500 words and finalizing the adventure in it's draft form. Although I managed to reach the word goal, my adventure is not yet complete, I'll have to write some more in the days to come.

We went to visit my parents and together had lunch at a local get together in St. Andrä/Wördern.

Afterwards I brought my dear to her roleplaying session and wrote the WYFA exercises at home.

Late that evening we went onto the couch for one tv series episode.

Im WYFA Workshop war das Wochenziel von 1500 Wörtern zu erreichen und damit das Grundgerüst für das Abenteuer fertig zu stellen. Ich habe zwar die Wörteranzahl erreicht, aber das Abenteuer ist noch nich vollständig ausformuliert, das werde ich dann die nächsten Tage nachreichen.

Wir waren dann zu Mittag meine Eltern besuchen und gemeinsam waren wir am Feuerwehrfest von St. Andrä/Wördern.

Danach habe ich meinen Schatz zum Rollenspielen gebracht und ich habe zuhause die WYFA Aufgaben erledigt.

Spät am Abend ging es dann noch auf die Couch für eine Folge einer Fernsehserie.

Getting things done

Yesterday's session of the WYFA workshop should have helped to get this week's wordcount target of 1000 words done and it did for me. So I hope that I'll be able to continue to write this weekend and that the first draft of the adventure is finished by then. Next week should be about polishing and playtesting.

During the day I was around a lot: grocery shopping and getting things done, before I started writing for the WYFA workshop.

In the evening we went onto the couch and let the day end that way.

Die gestrige Lektion vom WYFA Workshop sollte helfen auf das Wochenziel vom 1000 Wörtern zu kommen und ich habe es auch geschafft. Am Wochenende werde ich hoffentlich weiter kommen, sodass die erste Fassung vom Abenteuer fertig wird und nächste Woche dann den Feinschliff bekommt und Playtesting beginnen kann.

Untertags war ich viel unterwegs: einkaufen und Sachen erledigen, bevor ich dann am Nachmittag zum Schreiben für den WYFA Workshop gekommen bin.

Am Abend sind wir dann wieder auf die Couch gefallen und haben den Tag ausklingen lassen.

Saying goodbye

The topic of yesterday's WYFA workshop was handouts and other things you can give your players for better immersion into the game. I fear that this one task might take some more time on my part to complete.

We spent the day first at a funeral of my dear's godmother and afterwards we went to Alte Donau. When we returned home we were physically and mentally exhausted and had to lay down for quite some time.

In the evening the cats got their playtime and after that we went onto the couch.

Das Thema gestern im WYFA Workshop waren Handouts und andere Sachen, die man den Spielern geben und zeigen kann. Ich fürchte, da wird noch etwas Zeit für mein Abenteuer hineinfliessen müssen.

Ansonsten waren wir auf der Beerdigung der Patentante meines Schatzes und anschließend an der Alten Donau. Danach waren wir sehr erschöpft und haben uns zuhause niederlegen müssen.

Am Abend waren die Katzen im Mittelpunkt und nach der Spielsession ging es auf die Couch.

Railroads come around

The WYFA workshop continued with railroading (how players are forced to take certain paths) and how to avoid it. Since I got some experience with players and their strange ways of going around, this wasn't new to me and I already thought about it for my scenario

At work it was a bit better than last week, but still very few people came and bought something.

In the evening it was cat entertainment and human entertainment on the couch.

Weiter ging es im WYFA Workshop mit wie man Railroading (also die Spieler dazu zwingt bestimmte Wege zu gehen) vermeidet. Nachdem ich schon etwas Erfahrung mit Spielern und ihren interessanten Wegen habe, war das nichts Neues für mich und das ist schon bedacht gewesen im Szenario.

In der Arbeit war es etwas besser als letzte Woche, aber immer noch sehr wenig los.

Am Abend dann Katzenunterhaltung und Menschenunterhaltung auf der Couch.

Going round and round

The current lession of the WYFA workshop revolved around the known phenomenon that players rarely do as the writer of the scenario or adventure envisione. So the author needs to make sure there are additional paths and entry points in the scenario or adventure. I also looked at the layout software and found out that I need to spend some more time with it to unlock it's potential the publish something in the end.

Additionally I was at the dermatologist for a checkup and got another diagnosis. So right now I'll just have to wait for the foot to get better on it's own...

We went to the vet with our pussy cat again because her eye was not getting better and she got some new eye drops which should help.

Finally in the evening it was couch time with tv shows, which the cats are also really fond of and wait for eagerly every night.

In der aktuellen Lektion vom WYFA Workshop ging es darum, dass nicht alles so linear verlaufen wird wie sich das der Autor verstellt und so alternative Wege bereitstellen sollte. Zusätzlich habe ich mich mit der Layout Software bekanntgemacht und glaube da muss ich noch mehr Zeit investieren, bevor ich sie richtig verwenden kann.

Ausserdem war ich wieder beim Hautarzt und habe erneut eine andere Diagnose bekommen und werde jetzt wohl einfach warten müssen, bis der Fuß von selber besser wird...

Mit der Mieze Katze war ich auch wieder bei der Tante Tierarzt, weil ihr Auge nicht besser wird. Wir haben jetzt neue Tropfen bekommen und damit sollte es besser werden.

Am Abend schlußendlich dann wieder Couch und Fernsehserien, was die Katzen mittlerweile auch zu ihrer Routine gemacht haben und wirklich sehnsüchtig darauf warten.

Windy sunday

Yesterday's session of the WYFA workshops involved the NPCs (nicht-player-characters), those people who are controlled by the game master and are responsible for the story to unfold and progress. In addiition the weekly goal of 500 written words was to reach and I ended up with about 700 words myself.

In the afternoon we went to Alten Donau with friends, although the weather was not quite ideal.

Back home it was cat time and then into bed.

Die gestrige Lektion des WYFA Workshops handelte über die NPCs (oder auch Nicht-Spieler-Charaktere), also jene Personen, die vom Spielleiter übernommen werden und die zur Geschichte wesentlich betragen. Außerdem war das Wochenziel von 500 Wörtern zu erreichen, welches bei mir ca. 700 Wörter wurden. Ich bin also am richtigen Weg.

Am Nachmittag waren wir an der Alten Donau mit Freunden, obwohl das Wetter nicht ganz so ideal dafür war.

Wieder zuhause dann Katzen bespassen und ab in die Heia.

Start of the weekend (somewhat)

Yesterday's session of the WYFA workshop was all about research for the adventure. Not everything that's going on it known by everyone so it should also be presented in the adventure for easier play.

Work was - like the rest of the week - rather slow and afterwards I went to pick up my dear from Alten Donau.

Back home we entertained the cats and then we went onto the couch.

In der gestrigen Session vom WYFA Workshop ging es um das Recherchieren und Fakten sammeln für das Abenteuer. Nicht alles ist allen bekannt und so sollte man die wichtigsten Fakten auch in der Zusammenfassung aufbereiten.

Der Samstag war - wie schon der Rest der Woche - sehr schwach und ich bin dann danach noch zur Alten Donau gefahren um meinen Schatz abzuholen.

Wieder zuhause wurden Katzen bespasst und dann ging es auf die Couch.

The amazon are not as dodgy as I thought

This time on the WYFA workshop it was about the introduction and summary of the scenario. This will probably be the first 500 words of week one, which will be revealed today with the new task.

At work it was, for a friday, a very slow day. So let's hope that today will at least somehow make up for it.

In the evening my dear and I played our Blood Bowl 2 match, which showed once more that dice luck is mostly siding with a particular person and that's not me.

Diesmal ging es um die Einführung und Zusammenfassung von Abenteuer beim WYFA Workshop. Das werden dann auch vermutlich die 500 Wörter für die erste Woche sein, näheres dann in der heutigen Aufgabe.

Im Geschäft war gestern, für einen Freitag, wieder recht wenig los. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass es heute noch etwas besser wird.

Am Abend haben mein Schatz und ich unsere Blood Bowl 2 Partie absolviert, bei der sich wieder gezeigt hat, dass es bei Würfelspielen einen Favoriten gibt und das bin meistens nicht ich.
