Boardgaming all day long

Yesterday we started the day slowly and played boardgames all day long. Most of the time we spent as vikings and tried to put together A Feast for Odin. After that we played some shorter games: Railroad Ink, The Fox in the Forest, Codenames Duet and The Game.

After that it was rather late, so we all went to bed very tired.

Gestern haben wir den Tag gemütlich angehen lassen und haben den ganzen Tag Brettspiele gespielt. Die meiste Zeit haben wir damit verbracht Wikinger zu sein und Ein Fest für Odin auszurichten. Danach haben wir noch ein paar kürzer Spiele gespielt: Railroad Ink, The Fox in the Forest, Codenames Duet und The Game.

Danach war es dann schon so spät, dass wir alle müde ins Bett gefallen sind.

The last night in Vienna (not for us)

Yesterday at work after everything was done we stay according to the old motto bread and circuses and played some boardgames. We did play The Game, Sheriff of Nottingham and Galaxy Trucker and think everyone loved those games.

In the evening we had out farewell party for our japanese Lord, since he'll be flying home to Tokyo today. Time really flies when you have a great time.

Gestern haben wir in der Firma nach der Arbeit wieder unter dem Motto Brot und Spiele Brettspiele gespielt. Wir haben uns an The Game, Sheriff of Nottingham und Galaxy Trucker versucht und es hat wieder allen sehr gut gefallen.

Am Abend dann haben wir unseren Abschied von japanischen Lord gefeiert, nachdem er ja heute wieder nach Tokyo zurückfliegt. Die Zeit ist einfach wieder zu schnell vergangen.

Boardgaming away

This saturday we had friends over for boardgaming.

We started the afternoon with Scythe - a strategic worker placement game in an alternate timeline. All in all it was a bit confusing and complex and was met with various feelings.

Afterwards we played some games of Codenames - for fun and relaxing a bit.

Then we went into a haunted mansion with Betrayal at House on the Hill (incl. expansion).Zu

The conclusion of the evening was two games of The Game which we both lost quite narrowly.

Am Samstag hatten wir wieder Freund zum Brettspielen bei uns zu Gast.

Begonnen haben wir diesmal mit Scythe - einem strategischen Worker Placement Spiel in einer alternativen Zeit. Alles in allen ein recht komplexes Spiel und es hat eher gemischte Gefühle hinterlassen.

Danach wurde wieder ein paar Runden Codenames gespielt - quasi zum Auflockern.

Dann sind wir in das verwunschene Haus gegangen und haben es untersucht in Betrayal at House on the Hill (inkl. Expansion).

Zum Abschluss haben wir uns dann noch an The Game versucht und sind zweimal recht knapp gescheitert.

Boardgaming on the weekend

This saturday we went to a dear friend for a boardgame afternoon. But before we started gaming we went out to eat greek at Poseidon.

The first boardgame we played in the afternoon was Dark Gothic: Colonial Horror and it's a deck-building game with some horror elements. That means that you have to improve your deck of cards with new ones. We liked the concept of the game, although the planning is rather difficult as you constantly trade cards with other players and discard from your deck.

Then we started building trees with Kodama: The Tree Spirits a slow and simple card game. Each round you have to add another branch to your tree and score points for that - but not too many as this would anger the tree spirit (or something like that).

The next one was an old favorite of ours: Castles of Mad King Ludwig, which went rather quick, since we played it quite often.

With the afternoon almost over we then turned to quick games and played one game of The Game and two games of Straw before we went home to our cats.

Am Samstag waren wir wieder zu einer lieben Freundin zum Brettspielen eingeladen. Doch zunächst ging es griechisch essen ins Poseidon.

Das erste Brettspiel des Nachmittags hieß Dark Gothic: Colonial Horror und ist ein Deck-Building Game mit Horror Aspekt. Das bedeutet dass jeder Spieler sein eigenes Deck erweitert und mit dem Lauf des Spieles verbessert. Es hat uns recht gut gefallen, obwohl die Planung des eigenen Deckinhalts etwas schwer war, weil andauernd Karten getauscht oder entfernt wurden.

Danach haben wir Bäume gebaut mit Kodama: The Tree Spirits einem sehr langsamen und simplen Kartenlegspiel. Jede Runde muss man eine Karte an dem eigenen bestehenden Baum anbauen und so Punkte machen - doch nicht zuviele, weil das verärgert den Baumgeist (oder so ähnlich).

Das nächste Spiel war ein alter Bekannter: Castles of Mad King Ludwig, was diesmal recht flott gegangen ist, weil wir es eben schon relativ oft gespielt hatten.

Dann waren wir mit unserem Spielenachmittag schon fast am Ende, also haben wir noch eine Partie The Game und zwei Runden Straw gespielt bevor es zu den Katzen nach Hause ging.

Boardgames!!!

This saturday it was time for boardgames with friends again. But before we began to play we had a sweet snack first.

The first game we played was Castles of Mad King Ludwig, where I narrowly succeeded with my dungeon strategy.

After that we played Machi Koro for the first time a complete game with the first expansion.

The next card game we played was Stich-Meister, where - once again - chaos was present all the time.

Shortly before dinner we quickly played a game of The Game, which we won without any notable problems.

After a very good dinner we play against zombies in Zombicide: Black Plague and - although we played some thing wrong - we found it quite nice, but we liked Ugly Snouts better.

The last game we played was Straw, where the poor camel got it's back broken over and over again.

Am Samstag war wieder Brettspielnachmittag mit Freunden angesagt. Bevor wir allerdings zu spielen begonnen haben, gab es noch eine gute Jause.

Als erstes Spiel haben wir dann mit Castles of Mad King Ludwig begonnen, wo ich mit meiner Dungeon-Strategie ganz knapp - um einen Punkt - gewonnen habe.

Danach ging es weiter mit Machi Koro und diesmal haben wir es endlich geschafft mit der ersten Erweiterung zu spielen.

Als nächstes Kartenspiel haben wir dann Stich-Meister gespielt, was wieder - oder wie immer - sehr chaotisch ausgegangen ist.

Kurz vor dem Abendessen haben wir dann noch schnell eine Partie The Game gespielt und souverän gewonnen.

Nach dem sehr guten Essen haben wir uns dann den Zombies von Zombicide: Black Plague zugewandt und - obwohl wieder falsch gespielt - es für recht befunden, allerdings haben uns die Ugly Snouts besser gefallen.

Ganz zum Schluss gab es dann noch eine Partie Straw, wo das arme Kamel wieder überladen wurde.

Gaming on a hot sunday

Yesterday we had two dear friends over for a boardgame afternoon. But first we had to eat some of the ice cream they brought from Tichy.

First we played the new Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game. A very well made cooperative card game, where the party really has to work together to have a chance of winning. We played the tutorial and the first of five scenarios and I think we will play the other four very soon as well.

Then we had our Schaumrollen and tart - which I made the day before - and they were very well received. The Schaumrollen a bit more, because in the end there was less left over.

Next we continued playing our neverending campaign of the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game with part 4 (Fortress of the Stone Giants). It went well again, although my small monk is now really nothing more than a support sidekick compared to the powergaming other three characters, who decimate everything in their paths.

The conclusion of the gaming day was a shorter game, as we didn't want to start another long game at that time. So we decided to play two games of The Game - the first was lost very close to finishing it and but the second one was won almost with ease.

After our guests were gone we justed watched one episode each of Legends of Tomorrow and Upstart Crow before it was time for bed.

Gestern hatten wir Besuch von zwei lieben Freuden und wir haben einen Spielenachmittag bei uns veranstaltet. Doch zunächst haben wir die mitgebrachten Tichy Eisknödeln verdrückt.

Gespielt haben wir dann zunächst Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game ein sehr gut gemachtes kooperatives Kartenspiel, bei dem die Gruppe wirklich gut zusammen arbeiten muss um zu bestehen. Wir haben das Tutorial und dann das erste von fünf Szenarien gespielt und ich denke wir werden die restlichen dann auch noch angehen.

Dann gab es Schaumrollen und Tarte, wobei beides gut angekommen ist, die Schaumrollen allerdings eine Spur besser - zumindest wenn man nach dem Schwund gehen darf.

Als nächstes haben wir unsere endlose Kampagne beim Pathfinder Adventure Card Game mit Teil 4 (Fortress of the Stone Giants) fortgesetzt. Es ging alles soweit gut, auch wenn ich mich als kleiner Mönch schon wirklich sehr sinnlos bei den Powergamern der restlichen Gruppe die alles niedermachen was ihnen begegnet.

Zum Abschluss, weil wir kein längeres Spiel mehr anfangen wollten, haben wir dann noch zwei Partien The Game gespielt - eine Partie knapp verloren und die andere dann dafür gewonnen.

Nachdem unsere Gäste gegangen waren gab es noch jeweils eine Folge Legends of Tomorrow und Upstart Crow bevor es ins Bett ging.

Boardgames

Yesterday it was once again a boardgame afternoon at a dear friend of ours. The first game we played was The Game and after that we got lunch.

Well fed, we then continued with our campaign at the Pathfinder Adventure Game and we finally finished the thrid adventure.

Afterwards we joined the crew of Firefly: Fistful of Credits in the hunt for some quick bucks, but we failed miserably.

The conclusion of the afternoon was building castles for Mad King Ludwig.

When we came back home, the cats were hungry at first and then went to the toilet almost immediately - it looked like they slept the whole day and forgot to follow the call of nature. We concluded the day with an episode each of Once Upon a Time and QI, before we went to bed - although the cats weren't tired at all and didn't understand our need to sleep, but the let us do it anyway.

Gestern waren wir wieder zu einem Brettspielnachmittag bei einer lieben Freundin eingeladen. Zunächst wurde mit The Game begonnen und dann gab es Mittagessen.

Gut abgefüttert haben wir dann das Pathfinder Adventure Game weitergespielt und das dritte Abenteuer abgeschlossen.

Danach sind für mit der Crew von Firefly: Fistful of Credits auf die Jagd nach Schätzen gegangen und haben dabei kläglich abgebissen.

Zum Schluss wurden dann noch (Luft)Schlösser für den Mad King Ludwig gebaut.

Wieder zuhause angekommen waren die Katzen zuerst hungrig und mussten dann gleich beide auf die Katzentoilette, scheinbar haben sie den ganzen Tag verschlafen. Wir haben uns dann noch eine Episode von Once Upon a Time und QI angeschaut, bevor wir auch ins Bett gefallen sind - die Katzen haben das nicht ganz verstanden und wollten noch was machen, haben dann aber doch nachgegeben.

Boardgames!

This saturday we had a boardgame afternoon with friends, but before that we went to shop at Interspar. Well packed we went home and after a quick lunch we were on our way.

Although there was some heavy snowstorms going on we made it safely to our friends and then the fun started.

We began with Mysterium. The game - a mix of Dixit and Cluedo - was well received and I as the ghost was especially pleased the my murderer was revealed and put to justice.

The next game was Survive: Space Attack!. The players try to leave a disintegrating space station and reach the nearby wormholes. It was utter chaos but I think the players liked it.

For relaxation we then played a card game called Stich-Meister. It's a simple game until the rules - that are secretly selected by the players each round - kick in. Then it turns to chaos and we managed to keep our sanity intact. It was fun and almost with an open end as to who won.

Since we already played a card game, we opted to play another with The Game, which we easily quite narrowly won.

At the late hours of the day we then turned to a game which required some skill to play - Flick 'em Up!. Lawkeepers and Outlaws had a stand-off in Dodge City twice and each time the Outlaws were more dexterous.

After that it was time for betrayal and intrigue with The Resistance: Avalon. Although the forces of good were successful, in the end the evil guys managed to single out Merlin and won after all.

Finally we entered the world of spycraft with Spyfall - on a smartphone. The honest people of the circus were good, but the spy - yes, it was me - managed to determine the location and won the day.

Since our japanese guest stayed home and had a party with friends, we were quite unsure as to the state of our flat. But surprisingly there was (almost) nothing wrong with the state of the flat and we were quite surprised.

Am Samstag hatten wir Brettspielnachmittag bei Freunden, aber zuvor waren wir noch beim Interspar einkaufen. Voll bepackt sind wir wieder nach Hause gekommen und nach einem schnellen Mittagessen waren wir schon wieder auf dem Weg.

Trotz relativ heftigem Schneesturm sind wir wohl behalten bei unseren Freunden angekommen und dann ging es auch schon los.

Begonnen haben wir mit Mysterium. Das Spiel - eine Mischung aus Dixit und Cluedo - hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen, vor allem mir weil ich als Geist die Spieler erfolgreich von meinem Mörder in Kenntnis setzen konnte.

Das nächste Spiel am Plan war Survive: Space Attack!. Die Spieler müssen versuchen sich von einer auflösenden Raumstation in nahe gelegene Wurmlöcher in Sicherheit zu bringen. Das Chaos war perfekt, aber ich denke auch hier hatten alle ihren Spaß dabei.

Zur Auflockerung haben wir dann Stich-Meister gespielt. Ein einfaches Kartenspiel mit Stichen, wobei jede Runde andere Regeln gelten die kollektiv aber geheim von den Mitspieler ausgesucht werden. Das war erst ein Chaos, aber sehr witzig und mit relativ offenem Ende wer gewonnen hat.

Da wir schon bei den Kartenspielen waren, haben wir gleich mit The Game weiter gemacht, welches wir souverän relativ knapp gewonnen haben.

Zu später Stunde wurde dann noch unsere Geschicklichkeit getestet mit Flick 'em Up!. Gesetzeshüter und Banditen standen sich zweimal in Dodge City gegenüber und beide Male waren die Banditen erfolgreich - als einfach die besseren Schnipser.

Dann ging es noch mit Verrat und Intrige weiter in The Resistance: Avalon. Obwohl die Mächte des Guten sehr erfolgreich unterwegs waren, haben die Bösen es doch geschafft Merlin zu finden und somit das Spiel zu gewinnen.

Ganz zum Schluss wollten wir dann noch ins Reich der Spione eintauchen mit Spyfall - via Smartphone. Die ehrlichen Zirkusleute waren gut, aber der Spion - ja, ich was das - hat es trotzdem geschafft sein Ziel zu erreichen.

Nachdem unser japanische Gast zuhause geblieben ist und mit Freunden eine Party gefeiert hatte, waren wir nicht sicher in welchem Zustand wir die Wohnung vorfinden würden. Aber es war (fast) alles ok und wir waren entsprechend überrascht.

Boardgame afternoon again

Yesterday we hosted a boardgame afternoon again. (The pictures were made by Mr. Znarf)

We started with Battlestar Galactica, where we were unlucky against three Cylons who just blow our nice little ship out of the sky that is space.

After that we played a game of The Game. Since we were so successful at it we decided to play it again, but this time we failed quite close - and not because we increased the difficulty as soneone suggested, which we didn't do.

Later it was time for some zombies with Dead Panic and thanks to the noble sacrifice of two of us, the others made it to the van in time.

The conclusion of the afternoon/evening we went to Japan and tried to look after a panda in a bamboo garden - in Takenoko.

Gestern war wieder großer Brettspielnachmittag bei uns. (Die Bilder sind vom Hrn. Znarf)

Begonnen haben wir mit Battlestar Galactica, wo wir es leider nicht geschafft hatten gegen drei Cylonen zu bestehen und so sind wir mit wehenden Fahnen untergegangen.

Danach haben wir The Game gespielt. Und nachdem die erste Partie so leicht war, haben wir gleich noch eine zweite gespielt, bei der wir knapp gescheitert sind - obwohl wir nicht wie vorgeschlagen den Schwierigkeitsgrad erhöht hatten.

Dann kam Dead Panic dran und dank der heldenhaften Opferung von zwei der Überlebenden haben es die anderen dann doch noch in den Van geschafft.

Zum Abschluss ging es dann nach Japan wo wir einen Panda im Bambuswald beaufsichtigen mussten - in Takenoko.
