Boardgaming on the weekend

This saturday we went to a dear friend for a boardgame afternoon. But before we started gaming we went out to eat greek at Poseidon.

The first boardgame we played in the afternoon was Dark Gothic: Colonial Horror and it's a deck-building game with some horror elements. That means that you have to improve your deck of cards with new ones. We liked the concept of the game, although the planning is rather difficult as you constantly trade cards with other players and discard from your deck.

Then we started building trees with Kodama: The Tree Spirits a slow and simple card game. Each round you have to add another branch to your tree and score points for that - but not too many as this would anger the tree spirit (or something like that).

The next one was an old favorite of ours: Castles of Mad King Ludwig, which went rather quick, since we played it quite often.

With the afternoon almost over we then turned to quick games and played one game of The Game and two games of Straw before we went home to our cats.

Am Samstag waren wir wieder zu einer lieben Freundin zum Brettspielen eingeladen. Doch zunächst ging es griechisch essen ins Poseidon.

Das erste Brettspiel des Nachmittags hieß Dark Gothic: Colonial Horror und ist ein Deck-Building Game mit Horror Aspekt. Das bedeutet dass jeder Spieler sein eigenes Deck erweitert und mit dem Lauf des Spieles verbessert. Es hat uns recht gut gefallen, obwohl die Planung des eigenen Deckinhalts etwas schwer war, weil andauernd Karten getauscht oder entfernt wurden.

Danach haben wir Bäume gebaut mit Kodama: The Tree Spirits einem sehr langsamen und simplen Kartenlegspiel. Jede Runde muss man eine Karte an dem eigenen bestehenden Baum anbauen und so Punkte machen - doch nicht zuviele, weil das verärgert den Baumgeist (oder so ähnlich).

Das nächste Spiel war ein alter Bekannter: Castles of Mad King Ludwig, was diesmal recht flott gegangen ist, weil wir es eben schon relativ oft gespielt hatten.

Dann waren wir mit unserem Spielenachmittag schon fast am Ende, also haben wir noch eine Partie The Game und zwei Runden Straw gespielt bevor es zu den Katzen nach Hause ging.

Football and some gaming

This sunday we went out for lunch with a friend of ours to Koi.

Afterwards we were quite full and so we just went home, where we watched two episodes of Celebrity MasterChef. After that we switched to boardgames and played Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

And then it was already time for the Euro 2016 game of France versus Iceland, the reason we met in the first place. After this nerve wracking game was over, out friend went home and we went straight to bed.

Am Sonntag sind wir zu Mittag mit einer lieben Freundin zum Koi essen gegangen.

Danach waren wir voll und sind nach Haus gerollt, wo wir uns dann zwei Folgen von Celebrity MasterChef angeschaut haben. Danach ging es zum Brettspielen und wir haben Castles of Mad King Ludwig gespielt.

Dann war es schon Zeit für das EM Match Frankreich gegen Island, weswegen wir uns eigentlich getroffen hatten. Als dieser Krimi vorbei war, ist unsere Freundin wieder nach Hause gegangen und wir sind nur mehr ins Bett gefallen.

Boardgames!!!

This saturday it was time for boardgames with friends again. But before we began to play we had a sweet snack first.

The first game we played was Castles of Mad King Ludwig, where I narrowly succeeded with my dungeon strategy.

After that we played Machi Koro for the first time a complete game with the first expansion.

The next card game we played was Stich-Meister, where - once again - chaos was present all the time.

Shortly before dinner we quickly played a game of The Game, which we won without any notable problems.

After a very good dinner we play against zombies in Zombicide: Black Plague and - although we played some thing wrong - we found it quite nice, but we liked Ugly Snouts better.

The last game we played was Straw, where the poor camel got it's back broken over and over again.

Am Samstag war wieder Brettspielnachmittag mit Freunden angesagt. Bevor wir allerdings zu spielen begonnen haben, gab es noch eine gute Jause.

Als erstes Spiel haben wir dann mit Castles of Mad King Ludwig begonnen, wo ich mit meiner Dungeon-Strategie ganz knapp - um einen Punkt - gewonnen habe.

Danach ging es weiter mit Machi Koro und diesmal haben wir es endlich geschafft mit der ersten Erweiterung zu spielen.

Als nächstes Kartenspiel haben wir dann Stich-Meister gespielt, was wieder - oder wie immer - sehr chaotisch ausgegangen ist.

Kurz vor dem Abendessen haben wir dann noch schnell eine Partie The Game gespielt und souverän gewonnen.

Nach dem sehr guten Essen haben wir uns dann den Zombies von Zombicide: Black Plague zugewandt und - obwohl wieder falsch gespielt - es für recht befunden, allerdings haben uns die Ugly Snouts besser gefallen.

Ganz zum Schluss gab es dann noch eine Partie Straw, wo das arme Kamel wieder überladen wurde.

Yesterday we were invited to a boardgame afternoon at friends, who also happen to have a small baby and thus the playing of games was constantly interrupted.

But in the end we managed to play a game of Machi Koro and Castles of Mad King Ludwig each.

In the evening, after we were back home and entertained the cats, we went onto the couch and watched one episode of Legends of Tomorrow and Kalkofes Mattscheibe each before we went to bed.

Gestern waren wir zum Brettspielen bei Freunden eingeladen gewesen, die allerdings auch ein sehr kleines Baby haben, sodass das eigentliche Spielen immer wieder unterbrochen wurde.

Wir haben es trotzdem geschafft eine Partie Machi Koro und dann ein komplettes Spiel Castles of Mad King Ludwig zu absolvieren.

Am Abend, als wir wieder zuhause waren und die Katzen ausgiebig bespasst hatten, sind wir dann nur mehr auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns eine Folge Legends of Tomorrow und Kalkofes Mattscheibe angeschaut bevor es ins Bett ging.

This saturday it was time again for a boardgame afternoon, this time around at our place. So I decided to buy some donuts before noon and went to the Tasty Donuts shop at Wiedner Hauptstrasse. Unfortunately this shop had closed down and so I needed to go back to Mariahilf..

When I came back home, I went out again to shop for groceries. Unfortunately Hofer didn't have the right kind of potatoes, so I went out yet again to buy them at Spar.

When I finally came home, it was almost time for our guests to arrive, so I just ate a quick snack for lunch.

The games we played this time were the following ones.

We started with the third scenario of Super Fantasy: Ugly Snouts Assault which we managed to beat just in time.

Then we had a séance with a ghost to solve the Mysterium - which we we able to do quite easily.

Then we had a great dinner and after that we traded cows (and other animals) at Kuhhandel.

We stayed with animals and tried to start our own Evolution.

Then some of our guests had to leave, but we just played one more game with the remaining ones. It was castle building for a mad king - Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

Diesen Samstag hatten wir wieder eine Brettspielrunde und diesmal waren wir als Gastgeber an der Reihe. Daher wollte ich am Vormittag noch schnell Donuts von Tasty Donuts besorgen. Leider bin ich zu spät draufgekommen, dass die Filiale in der Wiedner Hauptstrasse geschlossen wurde und so bin ich dann nach Mariahilf gefahren.

Nachdem ich wieder zuhause war, bin ich dann noch einkaufen gegangen. Leider gab es die gewünschten Erdäpfel beim Hofer nicht und so bin ich dann noch einmal extra zum Spar gegangen.

Als ich dann endlich wieder zuhause war, war es bereits so spät, dass ich gerade noch einen Snack zu Mittag essen konnte, bevor unsere Gäste gekommen sind.

Die Spiele, die wir dieses Mal gespielt haben, waren folgende.

Begonnen haben wir mit dem dritten Szenario von Super Fantasy: Ugly Snouts Assault und das ging diesmal verdammt knapp zu unseren Gunsten aus.

Dann haben wir wieder eine Séance mit einem Geist gespielt um das Mysterium zu lüften - was uns auch relativ leicht gelungen ist.

Dann haben wir unser gutes Nachtmahl zu uns genommen und danach gab es einen großen Kuhhandel.

Als nächstes haben wir dann wieder im Tierreich gespielt mit Evolution.

Danach sind die ersten Gäste gegangen und mit den verbleibenden zwei haben wir dann noch Schlösser bauen gespielt mit Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

Yesterday it was once again a boardgame afternoon at a dear friend of ours. The first game we played was The Game and after that we got lunch.

Well fed, we then continued with our campaign at the Pathfinder Adventure Game and we finally finished the thrid adventure.

Afterwards we joined the crew of Firefly: Fistful of Credits in the hunt for some quick bucks, but we failed miserably.

The conclusion of the afternoon was building castles for Mad King Ludwig.

When we came back home, the cats were hungry at first and then went to the toilet almost immediately - it looked like they slept the whole day and forgot to follow the call of nature. We concluded the day with an episode each of Once Upon a Time and QI, before we went to bed - although the cats weren't tired at all and didn't understand our need to sleep, but the let us do it anyway.

Gestern waren wir wieder zu einem Brettspielnachmittag bei einer lieben Freundin eingeladen. Zunächst wurde mit The Game begonnen und dann gab es Mittagessen.

Gut abgefüttert haben wir dann das Pathfinder Adventure Game weitergespielt und das dritte Abenteuer abgeschlossen.

Danach sind für mit der Crew von Firefly: Fistful of Credits auf die Jagd nach Schätzen gegangen und haben dabei kläglich abgebissen.

Zum Schluss wurden dann noch (Luft)Schlösser für den Mad King Ludwig gebaut.

Wieder zuhause angekommen waren die Katzen zuerst hungrig und mussten dann gleich beide auf die Katzentoilette, scheinbar haben sie den ganzen Tag verschlafen. Wir haben uns dann noch eine Episode von Once Upon a Time und QI angeschaut, bevor wir auch ins Bett gefallen sind - die Katzen haben das nicht ganz verstanden und wollten noch was machen, haben dann aber doch nachgegeben.

Friday's are exhausting

Yesterday it was time again to shop in Mariahilf. After I picked up our japanese guest from his language class once again and he picked up yet another ticket at Libro, I went to myMuesli and Planet Harry for shopping. There wasn't many new gaming items, but I got the expansion for Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

After that it was food time and so I went to Natsu and Blutaumüller to buy our dinner.

Back home I was greeted by my dear and the cats - although the cats were mainly interested in the food.

Later I tried to complete my Coursera course on Ruby on Rails, but I failed to do so.

Exhausted and somewhat frustrated it was time for the couch and we watched old episodes of The Great British Bake Off.

Gestern war wieder Einkaufen in Mariahilf angesagt. Nachdem ich ein weiteres Mal unseren japanischen Gast von seinem Sprachkurs abgeholt hatten und er sich wieder ein Ticket vom Libro geholt hat, bin ich zu myMuesli und zum Planet Harry zum Einkaufen gegangen. Viele Neuigkeiten gab es nicht, aber die Expansion zu Castles of Mad King Ludwig wurde mitgenommen.

Danach ging es daran unsere Abendessen zu organisieren und so bin ich beim Natsu und dann beim Blutaumüller eingefallen.

Zuhause wurde ich von meinem Schatz und den Katzen erwartet - wobei es bei den Katzen wohl hauptsächlich ums Essen ging.

Später dann habe ich versucht meinen Coursera Kurs zu Ruby on Rails zu vollenden, was mir leider nicht so gelungen ist.

Etwas erschöpft und frustriert bin ich dann auf die Couch gefallen und wir haben uns die alten The Great British Bake Off weiter angeschaut.

Boardgames deluxe

Since we were invited to a boardgame afternoon I bakes some Vanillekipferln the evening before - a recipe and pictures will soon be featured after I bake the second batch.

At the boardgame afternoon we really tried to play many games and we succeeded. We started with Dungeon Fighter - where we really managed to beat the game for once! After that it was game of Sheriff of Nottingham, where we smuggled some goods into the city.

Next we went to the Isle of Skye, where everyone was building their own kingdom - whisky included of course. Then we went on to build some castles for a mad king with Castles of Mad King Ludwig, where not the most beautiful but the "best" castle won the game.

The conclusion of the evening was two games of fairy tales telling with Once Upon a Time... and a nerve wrecking game of The Game.

Through the pouring rain - save inside our car - we went home where we just watched an episode of Mysteries of Laura before we went to bed.

Für den geplanten Brettspielnachmittag habe ich am Vorabend noch schnell Vanillekipferln gemacht - Rezept und Bilder folgen sobald ich das Rezept wiederholt habe.

Beim Brettspielnachmittag selber haben wir uns dann so richtig ins Zeug gelegt und gespielt bis zum Umfallen. Begonnen haben wir mit Dungeon Fighter - wo wir diesmal tatsächlich erfolgreich waren! Danach kam eine Partie Sheriff of Nottingham, wo wir Waren in die Stadt schmuggeln mussten.

Als nächstes stand dann die Isle of Skye im Mittelpunkt, als wir unser jeweiliges Königreich mit Whisky aufgebaut haben. Weiter mit dem Bauen ging es dann in Castles of Mad King Ludwig, wo nicht die schönsten sondern die "besten" Schloss-Kreationen gewonnen haben.

Zum Abschluss des Abends dann gab es noch zwei Partien Märchenerzählen mit Es war einmal... und einer nervenaufreibenden Partie The Game.

Durch den Regen - geschützt im Auto - sind wir dann nach Hause gefahren und haben uns nach einer Folge Mysteries of Laura ins Bett begeben.

Yesterday we had a quickly planned board games afternoon with friends, since another longer planned one got cancelled due to illness.

So we first went to Sichuan for lunch - excellent as always!.

After the we restocked some icecream at Tichy for later that day.

We then played games starting with Nations: The Dice Game followed by three scenarios at Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and concluded with some castle building action at the Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

Later that evening we then watched one episode of Elementary and the most recent episode of Would I Lie To You?.

Gestern hatten wir einen spontanen Brettspielnachmittag mit Freunden, weil ein anderer geplanter krankheitsbedingt ausgefallen ist.

Zunächst waren wir im Sichuan Mittagessen - gut wie immer!.

Danach ging es noch zum Tichy um Vorrat für den Nachmittag einzukaufen.

Gespielt haben wir dann zunächst Nations: The Dice Game gefolgt von insgesamt drei Szenarien beim Pathfinder Adventure Card Game und dann noch eine schnelle Partie von Castles of Mad King Ludwig.

Am späteren Abend dann haben wir uns noch eine Folge Elementary und die aktuelle Folge von Would I Lie To You? angeschaut.

A new car

Yesterday we finally got our new car and drove the friends with it for a boardgame afternoon. Pictures of the new car will be added at a later time.

We played the following games: King of Tokyo (several times), Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Poker and Ingenious.

When we came home, the cats were already waiting to for us and so we fed them and playd with them for a long time before going to bed.

Gestern war es soweit, wir haben unser neues Auto abgeholt und sind damit dann gleich zu Freunden gefahren um einen Brettspielnachmittag zu verbringen. Foto vom neuen Auto gibt es hoffentlich bald.

Gespielt haben wir dann King of Tokyo (mehrfach), Castles of Mad King Ludwig, Poker und Einfach Genial.

Als wir dann wieder nach Hause gekommen sind, haben uns die Katzen schon erwartet und sie wurden gefüttert und ausgiebig bespasst.
