Yesterday after work I went home and opened the fall news from our favorite chocolate maker: Zotter.

Unfortunately it was the wrong package - one since smaller than we paid for - so we couldn't taste it and I have to contact them today on what they could offer to make this right...

In the evening we watched BBC shows before we went to bed, but not before entertaining the cats of course.

Gestern nach der Arbeit ging es nach Hause und dort habe ich unser herbstliches Zotter Neuheitenpaket ausgepackt.

Leider haben wir das falsche Paket bekommen, sodass wir noch nichts davon gekostet haben und ich heute reklamieren muss...

Am Abend gab es dann BBC Serien bevor wir ins Bett fallen konnten, natürlich nicht ohne Bespassung der Katzen.

Star Trek is back!

Yesterday after work I went to my parents and got - among other things - a very tasty tiramisu.

Then I went back home and after some chores we did at home we went onto the couch the watch tv shows. We also started watching the new Star Trek: Discovery show and we are currently unsure if we like it. Especially the main character is no doing so well on the motivation side and acting rather irrational for a human raised by vulcans. But perhaps the story explains this at some point until then we are not sure of this is going to go on...

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern und habe unter anderem ein köstliches Tiramisu bekommen.

Danach ging es nach Hause und nach etwas Hausarbeit sind wir dann recht bald auf die Couch gefallen um uns unter anderem die Pilotfolgen von Star Trek: Discovery anzuschauen. Wir sind uns noch etwas unsicher ob die Serie gut wird, bei der Hauptdarstellerin und ihrer Motivation und Beweggründen sind wir uns aber sicher, dass hier von der Geschichte her etwas sehr falsch gelaufen ist, aber man wird sehen...

Film Review: Kingsman - The Golden Circle

Yesterday we went to the movies and watched Kingsman - The Golden Circle.

The movie starts right with some action as Agent Galahad/Eggsy's live is on the line when he is assaulted. He can barely escape with his life by going underground in the sewers of London.

But the action is still coming and after a strike against all british Kingsman Galahad and Merlin are the last ones standing and have to flee to their - until this point unknown - american colleagues, the Statesman.

Piece after piece the puzzle begins to form until the agents are ready to save the world...

Not to spoil too much of the story is quite hard with this movie. But the sequel is really living up to the expectations. You get the feeling that there are even more action and slo-mo shots in this one and the humor isn't left out as well. There are even funny and action scenes not already shown in the trailers.

All around this is a great and funny action movie, where you didn't feel the whole minutes passing.

Gestern waren wir wieder im Kino und haben uns Kingsman - The Golden Circle angesehen.

Der Film beginnt gleich mit einem Anschlag auf Agent Galahad/Eggsy's Leben und er kann sich nur dadurch retten, dass er im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes in der Londoner Kanalisation untertaucht.

Damit hört die Action aber nicht auf und als es einen Anschlag auf alle Kingsman in England gibt und Galahad und Merlin die letzten Überlebenden sind, fliehen sie zu den - noch unbekannten - amerikanischen Kollegen, den Statesman.

Nach und nach fügt sich das Puzzle zusammen und die Agenten versuchen wieder einmal die Welt zu retten...

Nicht zuviel von der Handlung zu spoilern ist bei dem Film nicht leicht. Und auch wenn es die Fortsetzung eines sehr erfolgreichen Films ist, sie ist gut gelungen. Man hat das Gefühl noch mehr Action und Slow-Motion Shots zu sehen, der Witz kommt ganz und gar nicht zu kurz und auch die Trailer haben noch nicht alle guten Szenen gezeigt.

Rundherum ein wirklich guter und humorvoller Actionfilm, dem man die Länge von 141 Minuten nicht anmerkt.

And now he's going back "home"

This sunday the only task for our japanese guest was packing his stuff (not as extreme as the boardgame we played the day before) and this time it wasn't that difficult - he didn't even have to leave stuff behind.

In the afternoon we brought him to the airport and as of right now he's still on his way back home to Japan.

In the evening we just went onto the couch and we watched BBC shows..

Am Sonntag stand eigentlich nur mehr Kofferpacken (nicht so extrem) für unseren Gast an und diesmal ging das sogar recht einfach und es mussten nicht wieder einzelne Teile bei uns zurückgelassen werden.

Am Nachmittag haben wir ihn dann zum Flughafen gebracht und zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt ist er immer noch auf dem Heimweg nach Japan.

Am Abend sind wir dann nur mehr auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns BBC Serien angeschaut.

The last day of the stay for our lord

This saturday we all went to Mariahilf where we met a friend for lunch. We had indian food and it was quite good, but almost to hot for me (again).

At Planet Harry I didn't buy anything again - my birthday is still approaching - so we then went back home again. On our way there we had the last Tichy icecream of the season.

Back home again we then played - for the last time during his stay with us - some boardgames with our japanese lord. We started with Kofferpacken extrem, which was kind of the thing he was going to do soon anyway.

Next up we played Stich-Meister with only three players, which is quite a different experience to play, since you can plan somewhat ahead.

The conclusion then was the Omens of Ice expansion for Elder Sign, where we lost quite narrowly and now the earth is covered in ice - sorry about that.

Am Samstag sind wir alle nach Mariahilf aufgebrochen und haben uns dort mit einer Freundin zu Mittagessen getroffen. Wir waren indisch essen und es war sehr gut, wenn auch für mich fast schon wieder zu scharf.

Beim Planet Harry habe ich dann wieder nicht gekauft - der Geburtstag rückt immer näher - und so sind wir dann wieder nach Hause gefahren. Doch bevor wir dort angekommen sind, gab es noch ein letztes Eis der Saison beim Tichy.

Wieder zuhause haben wir dann - zum letzten Mal in seinem Urlaub - mit unserem japanischen Lord Brettspiele gespielt. Begonnen haben wir mit Kofferpacken extrem, quasi als Vorgeschmack auf das was ihm noch bevorsteht.

Als nächstes haben wir Stich-Meister zu dritt gespielt, wo die Sache ein wenig besser planbar ist.

Der Abschluss war dann die Omens of Ice Expansion von Elder Sign, wo wir es sehr, sehr knapp nicht geschafft haben die Welt zu retten und jetzt in einer kalten Eiswüste leben müssen.

Boardgaming doesn't get old

This friday after work I stayed longer and played some boardgames with colleagues of mine. We gave those games a try: Isle of Skye, Straw and King of Tokyo. I think everyone liked the games and I guess we'll be doing something similar in the near future again.

Afterwards I went home and since it was quite late I didn't go out to Mariahilf anymore.

We then did a boardgaming session at home as well with two Anno Domini game sets VIP and Wissenschaft & Forschung where I managed to lose quite spectacularly.

In the evening we watched the finals of Celebrity MasterChef UK on BBC.

Am Freitag nach der Arbeit habe ich mit Kollegen noch einen Brettspielsession eingelegt. Wir haben die folgenden Spiele gewählt: Isle of Skye, Straw und zum Abschluss King of Tokyo. Es hat allen sehr gut gefallen und ich denke es wird bald eine Wiederholung geben.

Danach ging es nach Hause und nachdem es schon spät war auch nicht mehr wie üblich nach Mariahilf.

Wir haben dann auch noch zuhause ein Brettspielsession eingelegt mit den zwei Anno Domini Sets VIP und Wissenschaft & Forschung wo ich wieder grandios abgebissen habe.

Am Abend dann gab es dann noch das Finale von Celebrity MasterChef UK auf BBC.

Relaxing TV evening with a hint of cats

Yesterday after work I was out for a quick grocery shopping trip and then we spent a relaxing evening which concluded on the couch with BBC shows. In between our cats demanded their rightful play-time - quite insistently because they noticed we had time.

Gestern nach der Arbeit war ich noch schnell einkaufen und dann haben wir uns einen gemütlichen Abend gemacht, der dann schlussendlich mit BBC Serien auf der Couch geendet hat. Natürlich sind auch die Katzen nicht zu kurz gekommen, die gemerkt haben dass wir Zeit für sie haben und ihr Recht lautstark eingefordert haben.

Going to space and beyond

Yesterday evening we had a short boardgaming session with a dear friend. We played Xia: Legends of a Drift System and there the players try to be successful merchants or pirates in space..

Although the rules are quite extensive, it played rather nicely and quick. We only played the short version and my trading strategy didn't pay off in the end. Perhaps if we played it again for a longer time it would be more successful.

Gestern Abend haben wir einen kurzen Brettspielabend mit einem lieben Freund eingelegt. Wir haben Xia: Legends of a Drift System gespielt und darin geht es darum erfolgreich mit einem kleinen Raumschiff durchs Weltall zu fliegen und zu handeln oder Pirat zu werden.

Obwohl die Regeln etwas umfangreich waren, hat es sich sehr flüssig und schnell gespielt. In der kurzen Spielvariante hat sich mein Händler nicht wirklich durchsetzen können, aber ich denke wir werden schon noch einmal ein längeres Spiel spielen.

Yesterday after work I went to my parents for dinner and got a quite tasty Kaiserschmarrn.

After that I went home and there we entertained our cats quite a lot and afterwards it was couch time with some tv series on BBC.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und habe einen köstlichen Kaiserschmarrn bekommen.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dort haben wir dann unsere Katzen ausgiebig bespasst bis wir auf die Couch gefallen sind und uns BBC Serien angeschaut haben.

Boardgaming in space

Yesterday after work and dinner I quickly baked a plum tray bake again. While the bake was in the oven we played a game of A Castle for All Seasons and noticed that the game isn't that good to keep - so one less game in our flat!!!

After that we went onto the couch for the second episode of The Orville and this time I didn't sleep through the episode, but I must agree with the opinion of other people that the show is neither funny nor exciting - there was much potential with it being a funny Galaxy Quest-like show, but I guess it won't happen.

Gestern nach der Arbeit und dam Abendessen habe ich schnell einen Zwetschkenkuchen gebacken. Während dieser im Ofen war, haben wir eine Partie Im Schutze der Burg und festgestellt, dass das Spiel nicht so gut ist, dass wir es uns behalten wollen - ein Spiel weniger in unseren Regalen!!!

Danach ging es auf die Couch zur zweiten Folge von The Orville, die ich diesmal nicht verschlafen hatte und auch ich muss sagen, dass die Serie ziemlich fad ist - weder besonders lustig, noch besonders spannend - was sehr schade ist, dann das Potential für eine Galaxy Quest TV Serie wäre durchaus vorhanden gewesen.

Boardgaming - the time-consuming varients

After some good night sleep we primarily played longer boardgames this sunday.

After breakfast we started with Mansions of Madness - Second Edition. At at country house we tried to solve the mysteries and stop a dangerous ritual, but ultimately we failed.

After lunch we then played The 7th Continent for the second time. This time we came better prepared and so we explored a lot of the land mass of the continent before we had to stop. Perhaps we'll continue exploring tonight...

For the conclusion of the day we presented our picture from our recent cruise to our japanese lord and used him as a beta tester for length of said presentation.

Nach einer etwas längeren Nachtruhe haben wir am Sonntag primär lange Spiele gespielt.

Nach dem Frühstück ging es mit Mansions of Madness - Second Edition los. In einem Landhaus war die Hölle los und wir wollten das Ritual aufhalten, doch leider waren wir nicht stark genug.

Nach einer Mittagspause ging es dann mit der zweiten Partie von The 7th Continent weiter. Diesmal waren wir besser vorbereiten und so konnten wir einen großen Teil der Landmasse erkunden, bevor wir dann das Spiel erneut unterbrochen haben. Vielleicht geht's ja heute Abend weiter...

Zum Abschluss des Tages haben wir dann unserem japanischen Lord die Bilder unserer Kreuzfahrt präsentiert und ihn gleich auch als Beta-Tester für die Länge dieser Präsentation herangezogen.

Boardgaming time!

This daturday we played a lot of boardgames again with our rather large group of 7 people (thanks to our japanese lord).

We started with a rathe strange game from a Kicktstarter - Bears vs Babies. IN this cardgame you try to build monsters from bodyparts and then fight off an army of crazy babies. It's as weird as it sounds...

Next we played two games of Magic Maze and we tried to steal our adventurer's gear from the shoping mall - not quite as successfully as we hoped.

After that we played the card game Dann ging es ans Kartenspiel The Great Dalmuti, where a revolution brought properity for the people and the win for me in the end!

Then I went to the kitchen to make some flatbreads for our dinner curry. In the meantime the other six played Stich-Meister and had some rather funny and weird rules combinations again.

To lighten up we then played three rounds of Codenames gespielt.

Another game we played was Der wahre Walter where we had another good laugh after the other.

Since some of the guests had to leave at that point we played Telestrations with a smaller group but it was quite funny again. Here are some of the highlights of the games.

Am Samstag haben wir wieder große Brettspielrunde gehabt - diesmal waren wir (danke unserem japanischen Lord) sogar 7 Leute.

Begonnen haben wir mit einem sehr skurrilen Kickstarter Spiel - Bears vs Babies. Ein Kartenspiel bei dem man versuchen muss Monster aus Körperteilen zu bauen und dann die Armee der wildgewordenen Babies damit aufzuhalten. Es spielt sich so wie es klingt...

Als nächstes haben wir dann zwei Partien Magic Maze gespielt und versucht die Ausrüstung unserer Helden im Einkaufszentrum zu stehlen - mit mäßigem Erfolg.

Dann ging es ans Kartenspiel Der Große Dalmuti, wo eine Revolution zur rechten Zeit den Umschwung für das Land (und den Sieg für mich) gebracht hat!

Dann habe ich mich in die Küche begeben um Fladenbrot für unser Curry zu machen. In der Zwischenzeit haben die anderen dann Stich-Meister und wieder recht einzigartige Kombinationen aus Regeln gefunden.

Um die Sache wieder etwas aufzulockern haben wir dann drei Runden Codenames gespielt.

Ein weiteres Spiel, wo Lachen auf der Tagesordnung gestanden ist, war Der wahre Walter.

Danach ist ein Teil der Gäste bereits nach Hause aufgebrochen und wir haben dann noch ein paar Runden Stille Post Extrem gespielt - hier wieder ein Auszug von den besseren Begriffen. Viel Spaß damit!
