Second day of conference

Yesterday was the second and final day of our conference and I got up early to take some picture - which can be found in this album.

In the afternoon I drove back home and took a long nap to relax again.

Gestern war der zweite und letzte Tag der Klausur und da habe ich dann in der Früh ein paar Bilder geschossen - diese sind in diesem Album zu finden.

Am Nachmittag ging es dann Richtung Heimat und dort habe ich mich dann ordentlich ausgeschlafen.

First day of conference

Yesterday was the first day of the conference at Lockenhaus which included a tour through the castle and ended with a great feast for dinner.

Gestern war der erste Tag der Klausur auf Burg Lockenhaus mit einer Führung durch die Burg und abschließendem Abendessen.

Gone for two days now

Yesterday after work I went home and out for grocery shopping again since I'll be gone the next two days on a conference at Lockenhaus Castle.

In the evening we went onto the couch to watch tv shows before I packed my stuff for today. I also took with me my camera so hopefully I can provide some nice pictures when I'm back again.

Gestern ging es nach der Arbeit nach Hause und dann noch schnell zum Einkaufen für die nächsten Tage, nachdem ich ab heute für zwei Tage beruflich auf Klausur auf Burg Lockenhaus bin.

Am Abend sind wir dann auf die Couch gefallen und haben Serien geschaut bevor ich den Koffer gepackt habe. Die Kamera ist auch dabei, vielleicht gibt es ja dann ein paar nette Bilder wenn ich wieder zurück bin.

Overexcited cats

Yesterday I was at my parents for dinner and got some tasty Grießschmarrn.

Back home again our overexcited cats still were looking for entertainment which they got from us. After that we sat down on the couch exhausted and watched the usual tv shows.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab köstlichen Grießschmarrn.

Wieder zuhause haben wir erneut unsere Katzen kaum unter Kontrolle gehabt und uns intensiv mit ihnen beschäftigt bevor es dann erschöpft auf die Couch ging und wir uns unsere üblichen Serien angeschaut haben.

Auch am Dienstag ist die Auswahl in der Kantine sehr bescheiden.

Monday, monday

Yesterday we spent a calm evening at home although the cats seemed to have finally realized that spring is here, since they were quite crazy running around the flat.

After that was done we sat down on the couch for the usual tv shows.

Gestern haben wir uns einen gemütlichen Abend mit den Katzen gemacht, die scheinbar jetzt aus dem Winterschlaf aufgewacht sind und wie irre durch die Wohnung getobt sind.

Nachdem wir alle ziemlich fertig waren sind wir dann auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns aktuelle Serien angeschaut.

Die Woche beginnt und die Auswahl in der Kantine ist bescheiden.

Sunday at Hard Rock Cafe

This sunday we celebrated a birthday of a dear friend at Hard Rock Cafe.

Well fed we then went back home and did our weekly chores. After that we all - cats included - were rather exhausted, so we had to lay down - especially the cats.

In the evening we went onto the couch as always and watched BBC shows before we went to bed - thanks to daylight time savings earlier than usual.

Am Sonntag waren wir mit lieben Freunden Geburtstag nachfeiern im Hard Rock Cafe.

Gut gefüttern sind wir dann wieder nach Hause gefahren und haben uns dort um die wöchentlichen Haushaltssachen gekümmert. Danach waren wir alle sehr erschöpft - auch die Katzen - sodass wir uns hingelegt haben - vor allem die Katzen.

Am Abend ging es dann wie immer auf die Couch und es wurden BBC Serien geschaut bis wir ins Bett mussten - dank der Zeitumstellung etwas früher.

Weekly shopping trip

This saturday we did our weekly shopping trip to Mariahilf one day late. We started off with lunch at Pak Choi.

Then wen went to Planet Harry where we spent some time talking and leaving with some stuff obviously. On our way home we also did some grocery shopping for the weekend. So when we finally were back home we just had to lay down and relax - something the cats didn't quite get, but they had been sleeping all day already.

In the evening we went onto the couch to watch the usual suspects of tv shows before we went to bed.

Am Samstag haben wir den freitäglichen Mariahilf Einkauf nachgeholt und sind dann auch gleich zum Pak Choi Mittagessen gegangen.

Beim lieben Planet Harry haben wir dann etwas länger Zeit verbracht und auch wieder das eine oder andere eingekauft. Auf dem Heimweg sind wir dann noch für das Wochenende einkaufen gegangen, sodass wir dann zuhause nur mehr erschöpft umgefallen sind - sehr zum Erstaunen unserer Katzen, die etwas unternehmen wollten nachdem sie den restlichen Tag geschlafen hatten.

Am Abend ging es dann auf die Couch zu den üblichen Fernsehserien bevor wir schlussendlich wieder ins Bett gefallen sind.

Massive boardgaming

This friday we had our monthly bread and circuses at work and we played Anno Domini: VIP twice and one game of Roll for the Galaxy. After that I went back home where my dearie already prepared for their Massive Darkness campaign, while I went to relax and take a nap.

Am Freitag hatten wir wieder Brot und Spiele in der Arbeit. Gespielt haben wir zweimal Anno Domini: VIP und einmal Roll for the Galaxy. Danach ging es nach Hause, wo mein Schatz schon für den Brettspielabend aufgebaut hatte. Sie hat mit Freunden ihre Kampagne von Massive Darkness weitergespielt, während ich mich ausgeruht habe.

Nachdem heute wieder Brot und Spiele in der Arbeit sind, war ich heute auch Mittagessen.

It's podcast time!

Yesterday after work I was grocery shopping and then back home I listened to podcasts.

Since my dear was out with friends and she came back home rather late, we just went to bed without watching any tv shows.

Gestern nach der Arbeit war ich noch schnell einkaufen und dann habe ich zuhause Podcasts gehört.

Da mein Schatz bei Freundinnen war ist sie dann spät nach Hause gekommen und wir sind dann nur mehr ins Bett gefallen ohne Serien zu schauen.

Heute endlich wieder Burger, aber nicht in der Kantine - ab zum Burgerista.

At the vet

Yesterday we went to the vet with our pussy cat for her annual examination, but everything is just fine.

Back home we played some computer games and then later went onto the couch for the weekly tv shows.

Gestern waren wir mit unserer Mieze-Katze bei der Tante Tierarzt zur jährlichen Kontrolle, aber es ist alles ok mit der Fluff-Maus.

Wieder zuhause haben wir ein bisschen Computer gespielt und dann ging es zu den wöchentlichen Serien auf die Couch.

Back to the routine

Yesterday after work I went to my parents for dinner and got a tasty apple pancake.

Afetr that I went home and there we rather early went onto the couch to watch tv shows, since we were rather exhausted.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und ich habe eine gute Apfel-Palatschinke bekommen.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dort sind wir dann schon relativ bald auf die Couch gefallen und haben Serien geschaut, weil wir doch schon erschöpft waren.

Film Review: Tomb Raider

Yesterday we were at the movies and watched the latest installment of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

The movie is a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise and therefore there's a new female lead actor in place.

The story is loosely based on the a video game of the same name, which also rebooted the franchise on the video game market. Lara follows her father, who is presumed dead, on his last expedition and finds more than she was hoping for. Soon she has to try to free herself from an evil organisation and try to survive on an otherwise lonely island in the pacific...

The story is rather well written, but don't look too hard on the details and the reasons the character do what they are doing. Just switch off your brain and enjoy the action ride, that's the best way to watch the movie.

The actor of Lara Croft has not been chosen rather well, as she still is more like a afraid doe at the end of the movie instead of the tough action heroine we liked to love over the years. And the bad guy is even a worse choice of actor, since he can't decide if he's playing an accountant or a mercenary and that make his whole plot line rather unbelievable.

Conclusion: action ok, content well...

Gestern waren wir wieder im Kino und haben uns den aktuellsten Film aus über Lara Croft angesehen: Tomb Raider

Der Film dient quasi dazu die ganze Tomb Raider Geschichte neu zu erzählen und deswegen gibt es auch eine neue Schauspielerin für die Titelrolle.

Die Story basiert lose auf einem Videospiel mit demselben Namen, welches auch als Soft-Reboot für das Franchise gedient hat. Lara folgt ihrem totgeglaubten Vater auf dessen letzte Expedition und findet dabei mehr als ihr lieb ist. Schon bald muss sie sich aus dem Fängen einer bösen Organisation befreien und auf eigene Faust auf einer sonst einsamen Insel im Pazifik überleben...

Die Story is durchaus gut geschrieben, aber bei der Handlung darf man sich keinerlei Gedanken über die Beweggründe der Charaktere machen. Einfach Hirn abschalten und die Action Revue passieren lassen, damit wird man am besten unterhalten.

Schauspielerisch kann ich nicht behaupten, dass Lara Croft sehr passend gewählt wurde, selbst am Ende vom Film wirkt sie noch immer wie ein verschrecktes Reh und nicht wie die toughe Archäologin, die man über die Jahre schätzen gelernt hat. Der Böse ist allerdings schlichtweg schlecht, denn entweder ist er ein Schreibtischtäter oder ein Söldner, aber beides kann er nicht dem Publikum vermitteln und das macht ihn dann irgendwie unglaubwürdig.

Fazit: Action ja, Handlung na ja
