One crying little kitty

Yesterday was the annual grilling at work, but since our pussy cat got herself ophthalmitis we were not sure if we should go to the vet again. After consulting the vet we treated the infection with mallow tea and hope for the best.

In the evening I played some Path of Exile and then we went onto the couch for tv show watching.

Gestern wäre eigentlich das alljährliche Grillfest in der Firma gewesen. Da aber die Mieze-Katze sich scheinbar eine Augenentzündung zugezogen hat und wir nicht sicher waren ob wir zur Tante Tierarzt gehen sollen, bin ich dann nach Hause gefahren und habe sie mit Käsepappeltee versorgt. Das hat einmal gereicht und jetzt warten wir ab, ob es besser wird.

Die abendtliche Beschäftigung war zunächst wieder Path of Exile, gefolgt von Serien schauen von der Couch aus.

Infusion for the cat

Yesterday afternoon we went to the vet with our pussy-cat since her kidney exam was not as good as excepted. So in the near future she'll be getting infusions, the first of which we had done yesterday. She was very active during the evening after that, but also had sometime troubles walking or running as the infusion depots on her body caught her off balance sometimes. We also tried out the new food variant, which she really liked and we hope that it stays that way.

In the evening I played some Path of Exile and after that we just went onto the couch.

Gestern waren wir am Nachmittag mit der Mieze-Katze wieder bei der Tante Tierarzt. Leider hat sich herausgestellt, dass ihre Nierewerte schlechter als die vom Kater sind und sie bekommt jetzt in der nächster Zeit Infusionen. Gestern war das erste Mal und danach war sie den ganze Abend aktiv, auch wenn sie dank der vier Infusionsreservoirs immer wieder Schlagseite bekommen hat. Auch das neue Futter haben wir gleich ausprobiert und da war sie auch sehr begeistert davon - mal abwarten ob das anhält.

Am Abend habe ich dann ein bisschen Path of Exile gespielt und dann sind wir auf die Couch gewandert.

Hot, hot and so damn hot

Yesterday after work I went to my parents and got a tasty apple pancake for dinner.

Afterwards I went home to sweat a bit in our warm flat. The cats also were not very keen on the hot weather and wanted to play once it's gotten cooler later that evening.

The conclusion of the day - after playing with the cats - was tv shows on the couch.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab wieder Apfel-Palatschinke.

Danach ging es nach Hause zum Schwitzen in der warmen Wohnung. Auch die Katzen waren nicht so begeistert und wollten erst später in der Nacht zum Spielen anfangen.

Abschluss des Tages - neben dem Spielen mit den Katzen - waren dann TV Serien auf der Couch.

A book as a present

Yesterday after work I went shopping. Since my mother-in-law's birthday is approaching and Mr. Niavarani wrote a funny new bok, I decided to just get that one for her.

After that I went home and into bed to relax some time in accordance with our cats who also didn't like the hot weather.

Later I played some Path of Exile following by some tv shows watching on the couch.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit noch schnell einkaufen. Nachdem der Geburtstag meiner Schwiegermutter ansteht und der Herr Niavarani ein sehr lustiges neues Buch auf den Markt gebracht hat, habe ich das schnell eingekauft.

Danach bin ich dann zuhause ob der Hitze umgekippt und habe mit den Katzen zusammen Siesta gehalten bis es wieder erträglich in der Wohnung war.

Ein bisschen Path of Exile als Abendunterhaltung gefolgt von TV Serien auf der Couch war dann der Abschluss des Tages.

Staying at home

My dear was swimming at Alte Donau yesterday, while I stayed home and took care of the cats and the flat.

I also did my weekly EDX courses and after that was done I played some Path of Exile.

In the evening, when my dear came back home, we just went onto the couch as usual.

Mein Schatz war gestern an der Alten Donau zum Schwimmen und ich bin inzwischen zuhause geblieben und habe die Katzen und die Wohnung gehütet.

Auch meine EDX Kurse habe ich wieder brav absolviert und als das erledigt war habe ich dann noch Path of Exile gespielt.

Am Abend, als mein Schatz wieder zurück war, ging es wie üblich zu den Serien auf die Couch.

Birthday feast

This saturday we celebrated my mother-in-laws birthday at Klaghofer.

In the afternoon we were just stuffed and exhausted, but the chores had to be done as well - after which we just fell into bed and we had to relax.

In the evening it was time for couch surfing again - including the latest episode of Doctor Who.

Am Samstag haben wir den Geburtstag meiner Schwiegermutter beim Klaghofer gefeiert.

Am Nachmittag waren wir nur mehr voll und fertig - trotzdem musst der Haushalt gemacht werden und danach sind wir einfach nur mehr umgekippt.

Am Abend dann war wieder Couchsurfen angesagt - unter anderem mit der aktuellen Folge von Doctor Who.

Busy friday

This friday after work I went to buy some beverages and brought them to Alten Donau, because my dear wants to go swimming with friends of hers this weekend.

After about 2 hours of driving through Vienna, I finally arrived back home and went out again to go to Mariahilf. There I shopped at myMuesli and Planet Harry and did some restock shopping.

There was no fish this week, as it was quite hot and that wouldn't have been good for the food when transporting it home.

In the evening I played a bit of Path of Exile before we went onto the couch for tv shows.

The new scouting platform is already in use.

Am Freitag war ich nach der Arbeit noch schnell Getränke einkaufen und habe sie zur Alten Donau gebracht, wo am Wochenende mein Schatz mit Freundinnen schwimmen gehen will.

Nach dem ca. 2 Stunden durch Wien fahren, bin ich schließlich zuhause angekommen und dann auch gleich wieder nach Mariahilf aufgebrochen. Dort habe ich dann myMuesli und den Planet Harry aufgesucht und entsprechend auch Sachen eingekauft.

Fisch gab es diesmal wieder nicht, nachdem die Hitze für den Transport nach Hause zu groß gewesen wäre.

Am Abend dann habe ich noch ein bisschen Path of Exile gespielt bevor es zu Serien auf die Couch ging.

Der neue Ausguck wird mittlerweile schon sehr gerne benutzt.

Something new for the cats

Yesterday after work I went to IKEA and bought something to have a new attraction for the cats in our flat.

Back home I installed said atrraction and now there's a now sleeping/lookout plattform in the hallway, where our cats can rest safely. Picture will follow soon I guess, once they start using it. If they don't use though we still can use it ourselves as storage space for games - so dear cats it's your decision...

In the evening I played Path of Exile since my dear was out with a friend of hers.

Gestern bin ich nach der Arbeit zum IKEA gefahren und habe etwas eingekauft um den Katzen in der Wohnung etwas Neues zu bieten.

Wieder zuhause habe ich es dann gleich montiert und jetzt gibt es eine weitere Schlaf-/Aussichtsplattform im Vorzimmer, wo sich die Katzen zur Ruhe begeben können. Fotos folgen vermutlich sobald es auch genutzt wird. Falls es nicht genutzt wird, haben wir mehr Staufläche für unsere Spiele - also Katzen entscheidet euch...

Am Abend habe ich dann Path of Exile gespielt, nachdem mein Schatz mit einer Freundin unterwegs war.

An evening at the vet

Yesterday after work I went to the vet with our princess - the second examination to see if her kidney problems have been getting better. Madame was very pissed, so much that the vet had to put a special cat muzzle on her. In the end everything was fine, but the results of the examination will be available on friday. Then we'll know if the medicine she's taking is enough or if she too has to go on a special diet.

Later that evening we went onto the couch and watched tv shows..

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit mit unserer Prinzessin bei der Tante Tierarzt - die zweite Routineuntersuchung wegen der Nierenwerte. Madame war wieder so zickig und rabiat, dass diesmal sogar ein Katzenbeißkorb Verwendung finden musste. Schlussendlich ist aber alles gut verlaufen und wir werden am Freitag wissen ob die Tabletten allein ausgereicht haben oder ob die Missis auch ihr Futter umstellen muss.

Am späteren Abend waren wir dann nur mehr auf der Couch und haben Serien geschaut.

Hot, hotter, well it's almost hell

Yesterday after work I went to my parents for dinner and got some tasty Kaiserschmarrn with fruit salad.

Afterwards I went home and we tried to live through the heat as good as possible. The cats were not very active until late that evening and then they wanted to play. After that we just went onto the couch for some BBC programms.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab Kaiserschmarrn mit Kompott.

Danach ging es nach Hause und wir haben versucht die Hitze so gut wie möglich zu überstehen. Die Katzen waren einfach nur fertig und haben erst am späteren Abend angefangen zu spielen. Wir sind auch nur herum gehangen und haben dann auf der Couch BBC geschaut.

Film Review: Wonder Woman

Yesterday we went to the movies again and we watched Wonder Woman with our usual gang of moviegoers.

The movie tells the beginning story of Diana Prince - better known as Wonder Woman - after we had a small glimpse of her in Batman vs. Superman. She was raised on a hidden island by the Amazons, and from a very young age wanted to become a warrior like the other women on the island. Her mother doesn't like that idea very much - note: what else was she supposed to do? there were no gardeners or scientists on the island as far as I noticed - but in the end Diana gets her training and becomes the best of the best. Just at that moment Steve Trevor - a man as she quickly recognized - crashlands his plane in the sea near the island and get's rescued by Diana. But Steve was pursued by the evil Germans and once the land on the hidden island there's a huge battle on the beach. It is at that point that Diana decides she need to go out into the world and kill Ares to stop the war that is poisoning humanity.

Yes, that was Ares in there and together with the other greek gods - after all Zeus brought Diana to life - they might or might not be real. Diana wants to do good and save humanity, her mother is not so keen on that idea but has to let her go anyway - Diana's at a tough age to argue with. Once she arrives at the industrial London she gets immersed into a whole new world, where her openness and views are not easy to hide for Steve.

What follows then are fights during the First World War until there's a showdown with the evil German general she thinks is the hiding Ares...

The movie is extremely well made - one of the best made DC movie to date - and the story is quite acceptable. Historically the movie is not quite accurate - this time around the Germans are evil because they are influences by the god of war - but the action scenes make more than up for that. Gal Gadot is the perfect choice for Wonder Woman - like Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark - and starts to bring the whole DC universe to life. Let's just hope that she gets enough screen time in Justice League so that the DC movies will be up to Marvel movies standard.

Conclusion: an absolute must-see movie for comic book and action movie fans - we watched in in 2D, which was ok - I guess there are not many 3D effects to warrent watching it in 3D

Gestern waren wir wieder im Kino mit der üblichen Runde und haben uns Wonder Woman angesehen.

Der Film erzählt die Vorgeschichte von Diana Prince - alias Wonder Woman - nachdem wir sie ja schon in Batman vs. Superman kurz kennengelernt hatten. Aufgewachsen auf einer versteckten Insel bei den Amazonen, möchte sie schon von klein auf eine Kriegerin werden wie ihre Kolleginnen. Ihrer Mutter gefällt das gar nicht - Einwand: was soll sie denn sonst werden, alle Amazonen trainiern den ganzen Tag, Gärtnerinnen oder Wissenschaftlerinnen sieht man dort gar nicht - doch es kommt wie kommen muss und so wird sie zur besten Kämpferin ausgebildet. Just dann stürzt Steve Trevor - ein Mann wie sie recht schnell feststellt - vor der Insel ab, denn er wird von den Deutschen verfolgt. Die manchen auch vor versteckten Inseln keinen Halt und so kommt es zum Gemetzel am Strand, wo Diana endgültig entscheidet in die Welt zu ziehen und Ares zu töten um den Krieg der die Menschheit vergiftet zu besiegen.

Ja, da war etwas mit Ares und den Göttern - denn man muss wissen dass Diana von Zeus ins Leben gerufen wurde und so den Drang verspürt Gutes zu tun und die Menschheit zu retten. Ihre Mutter ist da nicht so der Ansicht, aber sie lässt sie dann trotzdem ziehen - in dem schwierigen Alter von Diana gibt es keine Diskussionen. Als sie dann im industrialen London ankommt erschließt sich ihr eine ganz neue Welt, die sie mit ihren Ansichten und ihrer Direktheit etwas abstößt.

Was folgt sind dann Kämpfe im Ersten Weltkrieg bis es zum Showdown mit dem bösen deutschen General kommt den sie als Ares vermutet...

Der Film ist extrem gut gemacht - einer der besten DC Film bis zum heutigen Tag - und die Story ist auch durchaus akzeptabel. Historisch ist der Film nicht ganz so akkurat - diesmal sind die Deutschen böse weil der Gott des Krieges sie böse macht - aber die Action Sequenzen lassen diese Mankos schnell vergessen. Gal Gadot ist die perfekte Besetzung für Wonder Woman - ähnlich wie Robert Downey Jr. als Tony Stark - und bringt dem DC Universum den nötigen Rückhalt. Hoffen wir mal, dass sie in Justice League auch genug zum Einsatz kommt um den Marvel Filmen das Wasser reichen zu können.

Fazit: ein absoluter Pflichtfilm für Comic-Freunde und Action-Fans - wir haben ihn in 2D gesehen und das war auch ok, ich denke die 3D Effekte halten sich in Grenzen

An interesting book...

This sunday we relaxed a bit and tried to do some of the chores in our flat.

In the afternoon we went to Miskatonic University Museum and there - in Arkham Horror: The Card Game - we found a strange book called Necronomicon gefunden and decided to take it with us. I doubt that this could have been a mistake in any way...

In the evening, after entertaining the cats, we went onto the couch and watched our usual tv shows.

Am Sonntag haben wir uns ein wenig ausgeruht und versucht wieder Hausarbeit zu machen.

Am Nachmittag ging es dann ins Miskatonic University Museum und dort haben wir - bei Arkham Horror: The Card Game - ein komisches Buch namens Necronomicon gefunden und mitgenommen. Das kann sicher kein Fehler gewesen sein...

Am Abend, nachdem auch die Katzen ausgiebig bespasst wurden, ging es dann nur mehr auf die Couch zu den üblichen Serien.

Zombies and a certain Doctor

This saturday it would have been Free RPG Day, but Planet Harry didn't get the packages in time, so we'll have one in two weeks time instead.

That's why we didn't have much stress preparing for the afternoon boardgame session with friends. We played Zombicide: Black Plague and once won spectacular and one time we just lost horribly.

After our guests have gone, we just went onto the couch and watched the latest episode of Doctor Who.

Am Samstag wäre Free RPG Day gewesen, aber bei Planet Harry sind die Pakete noch nicht angekommen gewesen. Daher wird das in zwei Wochen nachgeholt.

Deswegen haben wir uns auch keinen Stress machen müssen, da am Nachmittag Freunde von uns zum Brettspielen vorbeigekommen sind. Wir haben dann Zombicide: Black Plague gespielt und einmal glorreich gewonnen und einmal nicht so glorreich sondern ziemlich heftig verloren.

Nachdem die Gäste gegangen waren sind wir dann noch auf die Couch gefallen und haben die aktuelle Folge von Doctor Who geschaut.

Happy Birthday Planet Harry!

This friday there was a huge birthday party at Planet Harry and there were a lot of cool and cheap games to buy. Well at least for the first 3-4 people to enter the shop that day, because the good stuff was either bought by them or reserved for friends of them who were further back in line. So I only got one board game and one roleplaying book and then went straight home againe.

Since I took the day off, I could spend a relaxing afternoon in the heat of the flat.

In the evening we just watched the usual show from the the couch.

Am Freitag war große Geburtstagsfeier beim Planet Harry und es gab jede Menge coole Sachen zu günstigen Preisen zu erstehen. Nun ja, zumindest für die erst 3-4 Personen, die ins Geschäft gekommen sind, weil die haben alles Coole abgestaubt bzw. für andere Leute, die weiter hinten angestellt waren, reserviert. Ich habe dann nur ein Spiel und ein Rollenspielbuch genommen und bin bald wieder nach Hause gefahren.

Da ich mir den Tag freigenommen hatte, durfte ich dann zuhause faulenzen und mich über die Hitze freuen.

Am Abend gab es dann die üblichen TV Serien auf der Couch.

Hot and tired

This thursday - a bank holiday - we tried to relax a bit, but the weather was so good and hot, that it wasn't quite possible. So we did some chores and tried not to sweat too much.

Our tom cat doesn't seem to mind the heat too much, but on the other hand he spends a lot of time in the coolest room of the flat - our bedroom.

Am Donnerstag - einem Feiertag - haben wir versucht uns zu erholen, aber das Wetter war so gut und heiß, dass uns das nicht wirklich gelungen ist. Also ging es daran Hausarbeit zu machen und ansonsten nicht zu sehr zu erschwitzen.

Dem Kater scheint die Hitze nicht so viel auszumachen, aber er verbringt auch viel Zeit im kühlsten Raum der Wohnung - unserem Schlafzimmer.

Dead tired

On wednesday after work I was dead tired and so we rather soon went onto the couch and watched tv shows.

Am Mittwoch war ich nach der Arbeit zu fertig um noch irgendetwas zu tun und so sind wir dann schon recht bald auf die Couch gefallen und haben Serien geschaut.

Und wieder ist Schnitzeltag.

Just some baking

Yesterday I was at my parents for dinner and got some tasty pancakes.

I also got some more cherries from the garden and so I baked something again back home - a blondie (cake with white and dark chocolate).

After that it was time for the couch and some tv shows.

Gestern war ich bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und ich habe köstliche Palatschinken bekommen.

Es gab auch wieder Kirschen aus dem Garten und so habe ich dann zuhause wieder einen Kuchen gebacken - diesmal einen Blondie (Kuchen mit weißer und dunkler Schokolade).

Danach ging es dann zu den üblichen Serien auf die Couch.

Die Woche beginnt - nachdem ich gestern Homeoffice hatte - mit einer interessanten Auswahl zu Mittag.

Filmreview: Baywatch

Yesterday we went to the movies and watched Baywatch.

Based on the tv series from the ninties, the story is about the lifeguards with the same names as in the tv series and their new adventures. As one could expect the movie has a lot of humour, but without any depth to it and boardering very bad taste.

If one should look at the actor's achievements in the movie I can't tell, because my brain went on emergency shutdown a few minutes into the movie and only a few of my brain cells had to die a heroic death.

Fun aside - which I didn't have - the movie doesn't take itself very serious and I get it why people might find it funny. It's totally not my kind of humour though and so I can not recommend the movie at all.

Conclusion: tasteless jokes with a lot of naked skin and other (dead, male) parts

Gestern sind wir wieder ins Kino gegangen und haben uns Baywatch angesehen.

Basierend auf der gleichnamigen Fernsehserie aus den 90er Jahren, geht es hier um die gleichnamigen Rettungsschwimmer und deren neuen Abenteuer. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten kommt auch der Humor nicht zu kurz, aber dafür der Tiefgang denn die Witze sind aus der untersten Schublade was Geschmack angeht.

Ob man den Film auch schauspielerisch betrachten soll, kann ich nicht sagen, denn mein Hirn hat schon relativ bald nach den ersten 18+ Witzen auf Notabschaltung gestellt und so sind nur ein paar Hirnzellen den Heldentod gestorben.

Spaß ohne - und das hatte ich - der Film nimmt sich nicht ernst und ich kann verstehen wenn man ihn lustig findet. Meine Art von Humor ist es nicht und so kann ich ihn auch nicht weiter empfehlen.

Fazit: geschmacklose Witze mit viel nackter Haut und anderer nackter (toter, männlicher) Tatsachen

Some hot Father's Day

This Father's Day it was quite hot and the cats just collapsed.

We then went to my parents-in-law to celebrate and we brought sushi for lunch.

When we came back home the cats still were not very active.

Only in the evening the action started and we played with the both of them for quite a while.

Once that was done, we were allowed to go onto the couch and watch our usual tv shows.

Am Vatertag war es zunächst heiß und die Katzen sind einfach umgefallen.

Danach sind wir zu meinen Schwiegereltern feier gefahren und haben Sushi mitgebracht.

Als wir wieder zuhause waren, war es immer noch heiß und die Katzen nicht wirklich zu gebrauchen.

Erst am Abend war dann Action angesagt und dann haben uns die Katzen spielerisch ausgepowered.

Abschließend war wieder die Couch und Fernsehserien am Programm.

Not quite so hot anymore

Yesterday I went on the weekly shopping trip to Mariahilf and of course I bought stuff at Planet Harry. Since the weather was not quite as hot I also bought some sushi at Temaya for lunch.

In the afternoon the cats were very active and so we spent a lot of time playing with them.

Since my dear had some university stuff to learn I turned my attention to my own studies with some EDX courses and in the evening we watched a movie on the couch: Moana from Disney. Finally not a bad movie to watch!

Gestern war der wöchentliche Einkaufstrip nach Mariahilf dran und ich habe natürlich wieder beim Planet Harry eingekauft. Nachdem das Wetter abgekühlt hatte, habe ich dann auch noch Sushi vom Temaya mit nach Hause gebracht, die wir zum Mittagessen gegessen hatten.

Am Nachmittag waren die Katzen hyperaktiv und so mussten wir uns mit ihnen sehr lange Zeit beschäftigen.

Da mein Schatz noch für die Uni Sachen erledigen musste, habe ich dann auch meine EDX Kurse absolviert und am Abend ging es dann zu Vaiana - einem Disney Film - auf die Couch. Endlich einmal kein schlechter Film!

No shopping trip

This friday after work - and after a short "visit" at Tichy - I didn't want to go out into the hot city and public transports and so I postponed the weekly Mariahilf shopping trip to today.

Instead I relaxed at home and in the evening - when the heat was going away - we watched tv shows from the couch again.

Am Freitag nach der Arbeit - und einem Kurzbesuch beim Tichy - wollte ich dann nicht mehr in die heiße Stadt und Öffis hinaus und habe den Mariahilfbesuch auf heute verschoben.

Stattdessen habe ich mich zuhause ausgeruht und am Abend dann - als die Temperaturen wieder angenehmer geworden sind - haben wir dann Serien auf der Couch geschaut.
