The Con was a success!

This saturday saw the return of the Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention, which was organised by our store. Meanwhile I was at the shop and had a rather good day there as well.

Afterwards I went there to pick up my dear, who sold some of our games there, and we went out for dinner together at Rinderwahn.

Afterward we went home and just fell exhausted onto our couch.

Am Samstag war die Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention, welche vom unserem Geschäft organisiert wurde. Ich war in der Zeit im Geschäft und es war auch hier ein sehr guter Tag.

Anschließend habe ich dann meinen Schatz, der für uns unsere Spiele auf der Con verkauft hat, abgeholt und wir sind gemeinsam noch zum Rinderwahn essen gegangen.

Danach ging es nach Hause und wir sind nur mehr erschöpft auf die Couch gefallen.

DPC & VFGC

Yesterday we were at the Don't Panic Convention, which this year was combined with the Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention.

So we mixed with the crowd and played some games.

First up was Istanbul. We made our way through the bazaar to collect the valuable gems.

After that we played the deckbuilding game Thunderstone Advance. While it was no completly new game, it still was interesting.

Unlike the next game we played: Munchkin Panic.

Here the known theme of Castle/Dead Panic (defend against masses of enemies) is combined with the one from Munchkin (hinder people from winning until someone wins anyway). This combination is very bad and so is the game. So it's fair to say that we didn't like it at all.

After that it was award time for the various competions. I took part in two of them - short story and roleplaying scenario - and what can I say, I won both of them!

The conclusion of the convention then was the auction of various things that haven't been sold so far. And we got ourselves some sauces, shirts and soft drinks for very little money.

Afterwards we went to a chinese restaurant nearby for dinner before going home to our waiting cats.

After feeding and entertaining them we went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Forever, The Big Bang Theory, Have I Got News For You and Coast Australia.

Gestern waren wir auf der großen Don't Panic Convention die zusammen mit der Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention stattgefunden hat.

Wir haben uns unter die Leute gemischt und ein paar Spiele ausprobiert.

Den Beginn hat Istanbul gemacht. Wir haben uns durch den Bazar gemacht um Rubine zu sammeln.

Danach haben wir mit dem Deckbuilding Game Thunderstone Advance weitergemacht. Auch nicht unbedingt ein neues Spiel, aber es war auch nicht ganz uninteressant.

Ganz im Gegensatz dazu dann das letzte Spiel, das wir probiert haben: Munchkin Panic.

Hier wird das bekannte Thema von Castle/Dead Panic genommen (verteidigt euch gegen die Massen von Monstern) und mit dem Munchkin Thema gekreuzt (es kann nur einer gewinnen, also muss man ihn möglichst aufhalten). Diese Kombination ist extrem schlecht und schadet dem Spiel mehr als es hilft. Unnötig zu sagen, dass es uns nicht gefallen hat.

Dann gab es die Preisverleihung für die Wettbewerbe - wo ich beim Kurzgeschichten- und Rollenspiel-Wettbewerb mitgemacht hatte. Und ich habe in beiden Kategorien gewonnen!

Zum Abschluss hab es dann noch eine Versteigerung der übrig gebliebenen Dinge der Con und da haben wir uns mit (Grill)Saucen, T-Shirts und Getränken zu günstigen Preisen eindecken können.

Danach ging es dann noch zu einem nahe gelegenen Chinesen zum Abendessen bevor wir wieder nach Hause gefahren sind und uns die Katzen begrüßt haben.

Nach Fütterung und Spielsession sind wir dann nur mehr auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von Forever, The Big Bang Theory, Have I Got News For You und Coast Australia angeschaut.

Finished another project

Yesterday after work I went to the gym with my dear so that we have earned the following first visit of the year at Tichy's.

Back home the cats were eagerly awaiting our return and didn't leave our side until they were fed and entertained afterwards.

After that I finished my PDF for this weekend's roleplaying contest with pictures from a dear friend. Unfortunately LaTeX wasn't doing the things I wanted it to do, so it took quite some time to finish the product. If anyone is interested in this I can provide the link to the finished product here (it's just german for now, but I'm planning to translate it to english as well).

Afterwards we went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Arrow, The Mysteries of Laura and Masterchef before falling into our beds dead tired.

Gestern nach der Arbeit waren mein Schatz und ich turnen und haben uns dadurch den nachfolgenden ersten Tichy Besuch des Jahres verdient.

Wieder zuhause haben uns die Katzen schon sehr vermisst und sind uns kein Stück von der Seite gewichen, bis sie ihr Futter und ihre Spaßeinheiten hatten.

Danach habe ich dann mein PDF für den Rollenspiel-Wettbewerb am Sonntag mit den Bilder einer lieben Freundin versehen und fertig gestellt. Leider wollte LaTeX nicht immer so wie ich wollte, aber das Ergebnis ist dann ganz gut geworden. Falls es sich jemand anschauen will, der Link zum fertigen PDF ist hier.

Danach ging es dann noch auf die Couch und wir haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von Arrow, The Mysteries of Laura und Masterchef angeschaut bevor wir müde ins Bett gefallen sind.

Friday, on the road again

Yesterday was friday and that meant that it was time for the weekly shopping tour in Mariahilf. I wasn't doing the big tour, since I rested for some time back home and left quite late this time.

The places I went to this time were: myMuesli - getting an exclusive Mozart muesli, Planet Harry - where I bought the latest expansion for Castle Panic, Natsu - for the weekly share of fish for humans and felines, Blutaumüller - sweet stuff for weekend's breakfast.

After that I went home, where I was expected already. The cats became their food immediately and after that we also were allowed to eat our share. In the evening we first played a bit of Pillars of Eternity before going onto the couch and watch the most recent episodes of Castle and Forever.

By the way, I almost forgot, that I handed in my contribution for the short story and roleplaying contests of this year's Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention, which will take place at the end of april and I'd like to thank again everyone involved and helping me make this possible!

Gestern war wieder Freitag und das bedeutet, dass ich auf großer Einkaufstour in Mariahilf unterwegs war. Wobei ganz so groß ist sie nicht ausgefallen, weil ich mich zunächst zuhause noch etwas ausgeruht habe und so relativ spät weggegangen bin.

Die Stationen waren diesmal: myMuesli - mit einem exklusiven Mozart-Muesli, Planet Harry - wo die neue Expansion für Castle Panic mitgenommen werden musste, Natsu - die wöchentliche Fischportion für Mensch und Katze, Blutaumüller - Süßes für Frühstück am Wochenende.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dort wurde ich schon sehnsüchtig erwartet. Die Katzen waren schnell versorgt und dann durften auch wir unsere Portion Fisch zu uns nehmen. Den Abend haben wir zunächst mit Pillars of Eternity verbracht und danach ging es auf die Couch zu den aktuellen Folgen von Castle und Forever.

Ach ja, ich hatte ganz vergessen, ich habe auch meine Beiträge für die Wettbewerbe in der Kategorie Kurzgeschichte und Rollenspiel für die Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention Ende April abgegeben und möchte mich noch einmal herzlich bei allen Beteiligten und Helfern bedanken!

The New Year has begun

We were blessed to have been able to sleep longer yesterday, as even the cats needed time to relax after the quite long and loud night before that. After getting up and while having a brunch I did my dailies in Guild Wars 2.

In the afternoon I did the chores and then we did some board gaming. This time we tried out the Dice Masters game from WizKids especially in the Marvel version. This two player game works a lot like a mixture of Quarriors and Magic: The Gathering. You roll the dicce to produce energy and untis (Quarriors) and combat has individual attacking and blocking parts (Magic).

All in all we were quite pleased with the game and once the D&D version is out in spring we will once again reveal ourselves to be mere collectors of almost everything and buy more than just a starter.

After that I tried out a new game from Steam, which I bought our guest from Japan - who arrived back home safely -for his upcoming birthday and thanks to the family option I was able to test it myself: South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Much like the tv series with the same name nothing is a tabu and everything is allowed. The game itself is a mixture of role playing and adventure games with a hint of tv series feeling to it and I think I will continue playing it soon.

After dinner - geting rid of the salmon from sylvester - I sat down before the computer and started writing again. The goal is to take part in this year's Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention competitions in late april. I started with the short story and hopefully develop it to a role playing scenario as well.

The evening we concluded on the couch with the last episode of Selfie - which was cancelled some time ago already - and an old episode of James May's Toy Stories.

Wir haben uns zunächst gestern etwas länger ausschlafen dürfen, denn auch die Katzen mussten sich vom Krawall der Nacht erholen. Dann gab es einen Brunch zuhause, während ich in Guild Wars 2 meine Dailies absolviert habe.

Am Nachmittag dann war Hausarbeit angesagt und dann haben wir uns zum Brettspielen hingesetzt. Diesmal wurde Dice Masters von WizKids ausprobiert und zwar in der Marvel Variante. Dieses Zwei-Spieler Spiel funktioniert recht gut und stellt eine Mischung aus Quarriors und Magic: The Gathering dar. Man würfelt seine Einheiten (Quarriors) und hat eine Angriffsphase wo attackiert und geblockt wird (Magic).

Alles in allem waren wir sehr zufrieden mit dem Spiel und wenn dann die D&D Version im Frühjahr auf den Markt kommt, werden wir vermutlich wieder einmal dem Sammelwahn verfallen und mehr als den Starter kaufen.

Danach bin ich dann in ein neues Steam Spiel gekippt, welches ich unserem japanischen Gast - der wieder gut zuhause angekommen ist - zum baldigen Geburtstag geschenkt hatte und ich es aber dank der Familien-Funktion auch anspielen durfte: South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Ganz im Stil der gleichnamigen Fernsehserie ist hier nichts tabu und alles wird beim Namen genannt. Die Mischung aus Rollen- und Abenteuerspiel mit einem Schuss Fernsehserien-Feeling ist gut gelungen und ich denke ich werde bei Gelegenheit weiter spielen.

Nach dem Nachtmahl - den restlichen Lachs von Silvester verbrauchen - habe ich mich dann hingesetzt und wieder zum Schreiben begonnen. Das Ziel ist bei der diesjährigen Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention Ende April zumindest in einer Wettbewerbs-Kategorie an den Start zu gehen. Ich habe einfach einmal mit der Kurzgeschichte begonnen und wenn alles gut geht wird dann daraus auch noch ein Rollenspiel-Szenario weiter geschrieben.

Den Abend beschlossen haben wir dann auf der Couch mit der letzten Folge von Selfie - was ja schon vor langer Zeit eingestellt wurde - und einer alten Episode von James May's Toy Stories.
