Just the usual

Since I was asked from several people what went wrong with this week's bake, here's a picture of the rescue attempt - which tasted quite good actually.

Yesterday we spent the evning playing LEGO Harry Potter again and are in the middle of the second year already. After that it was time for tv series with Arrow and Forever.

Nachdem ich mehrfach gefragt wurde, was denn so schlimm am gestrigen Backdesaster war, hier ein Bild vom Rettungsversuch - der übrigens sehr gut geschmeckt hat.

Gestern war dann am Abend wieder LEGO Harry Potter angesagt, wo wir schon mitten im 2. Jahr angekommen sind. Danach war dann wieder Serienzeit mit Arrow und Forever.

DPC & VFGC

Yesterday we were at the Don't Panic Convention, which this year was combined with the Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention.

So we mixed with the crowd and played some games.

First up was Istanbul. We made our way through the bazaar to collect the valuable gems.

After that we played the deckbuilding game Thunderstone Advance. While it was no completly new game, it still was interesting.

Unlike the next game we played: Munchkin Panic.

Here the known theme of Castle/Dead Panic (defend against masses of enemies) is combined with the one from Munchkin (hinder people from winning until someone wins anyway). This combination is very bad and so is the game. So it's fair to say that we didn't like it at all.

After that it was award time for the various competions. I took part in two of them - short story and roleplaying scenario - and what can I say, I won both of them!

The conclusion of the convention then was the auction of various things that haven't been sold so far. And we got ourselves some sauces, shirts and soft drinks for very little money.

Afterwards we went to a chinese restaurant nearby for dinner before going home to our waiting cats.

After feeding and entertaining them we went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Forever, The Big Bang Theory, Have I Got News For You and Coast Australia.

Gestern waren wir auf der großen Don't Panic Convention die zusammen mit der Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention stattgefunden hat.

Wir haben uns unter die Leute gemischt und ein paar Spiele ausprobiert.

Den Beginn hat Istanbul gemacht. Wir haben uns durch den Bazar gemacht um Rubine zu sammeln.

Danach haben wir mit dem Deckbuilding Game Thunderstone Advance weitergemacht. Auch nicht unbedingt ein neues Spiel, aber es war auch nicht ganz uninteressant.

Ganz im Gegensatz dazu dann das letzte Spiel, das wir probiert haben: Munchkin Panic.

Hier wird das bekannte Thema von Castle/Dead Panic genommen (verteidigt euch gegen die Massen von Monstern) und mit dem Munchkin Thema gekreuzt (es kann nur einer gewinnen, also muss man ihn möglichst aufhalten). Diese Kombination ist extrem schlecht und schadet dem Spiel mehr als es hilft. Unnötig zu sagen, dass es uns nicht gefallen hat.

Dann gab es die Preisverleihung für die Wettbewerbe - wo ich beim Kurzgeschichten- und Rollenspiel-Wettbewerb mitgemacht hatte. Und ich habe in beiden Kategorien gewonnen!

Zum Abschluss hab es dann noch eine Versteigerung der übrig gebliebenen Dinge der Con und da haben wir uns mit (Grill)Saucen, T-Shirts und Getränken zu günstigen Preisen eindecken können.

Danach ging es dann noch zu einem nahe gelegenen Chinesen zum Abendessen bevor wir wieder nach Hause gefahren sind und uns die Katzen begrüßt haben.

Nach Fütterung und Spielsession sind wir dann nur mehr auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von Forever, The Big Bang Theory, Have I Got News For You und Coast Australia angeschaut.

Not very exicting

Yesterday was a quite boring evening so we spent most of the time on the couch watch the most recent episode of Masterchef, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Forever. After that we did a play session with the cats before going to bed.

Gestern war ein recht ereignisloser Abend, wir sind relativ bald auf die Cuoch gegangen und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von Masterchef, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. und Forever angeschaut. Dann gab es noch eine Spielsession mit den Katzen bevor es ins Bett ging.

Friday, on the road again

Yesterday was friday and that meant that it was time for the weekly shopping tour in Mariahilf. I wasn't doing the big tour, since I rested for some time back home and left quite late this time.

The places I went to this time were: myMuesli - getting an exclusive Mozart muesli, Planet Harry - where I bought the latest expansion for Castle Panic, Natsu - for the weekly share of fish for humans and felines, Blutaumüller - sweet stuff for weekend's breakfast.

After that I went home, where I was expected already. The cats became their food immediately and after that we also were allowed to eat our share. In the evening we first played a bit of Pillars of Eternity before going onto the couch and watch the most recent episodes of Castle and Forever.

By the way, I almost forgot, that I handed in my contribution for the short story and roleplaying contests of this year's Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention, which will take place at the end of april and I'd like to thank again everyone involved and helping me make this possible!

Gestern war wieder Freitag und das bedeutet, dass ich auf großer Einkaufstour in Mariahilf unterwegs war. Wobei ganz so groß ist sie nicht ausgefallen, weil ich mich zunächst zuhause noch etwas ausgeruht habe und so relativ spät weggegangen bin.

Die Stationen waren diesmal: myMuesli - mit einem exklusiven Mozart-Muesli, Planet Harry - wo die neue Expansion für Castle Panic mitgenommen werden musste, Natsu - die wöchentliche Fischportion für Mensch und Katze, Blutaumüller - Süßes für Frühstück am Wochenende.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dort wurde ich schon sehnsüchtig erwartet. Die Katzen waren schnell versorgt und dann durften auch wir unsere Portion Fisch zu uns nehmen. Den Abend haben wir zunächst mit Pillars of Eternity verbracht und danach ging es auf die Couch zu den aktuellen Folgen von Castle und Forever.

Ach ja, ich hatte ganz vergessen, ich habe auch meine Beiträge für die Wettbewerbe in der Kategorie Kurzgeschichte und Rollenspiel für die Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention Ende April abgegeben und möchte mich noch einmal herzlich bei allen Beteiligten und Helfern bedanken!

Happy Birthday-Party

Yesterday after work we went out with a dear friend, who had her birthday. We went to celebrate at an Irish Pub (Flanagans) and had burger, Kilkenny and cocktails.

Well fed we then went home again and I started to do my weekly bake. The cake was better than the attempt the day before but the chocolate ganache wasn't as good as I hoped. But I guess it will be eaten anyway.

The evening entertainment consisted of the following series:Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Great Comic Relief Bake Off and Forever.

Gestern waren wir nach der Arbeit mit einer lieben Freundin deren Geburtstag im Irish Pub (Flanagans) feiern. Dazu gab es Burger, Kilkenny und dann Cocktails.

Gut abgefüllt sind wir danach wieder nach Hause gewankt und ich habe der Kuchen für heute gebacken. Die Masse ist mir diesmal besser gelungen, aber mit der Schoko-Ganache hat es nicht so wirklich geklappt. Er wird aber trotzdem Abnehmer finden, da bin ich überzeugt.

Die Abendunterhaltung haben dann die folgenden Serien geliefert: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Great Comic Relief Bake Off und Forever.

Baking - but not good enough

Yesterday after work I was at my parents' for lunch and it was again a delicious Kaiserschmarrn.

After that I went home and from there to a "quick" stop at the post office to send an insured letter. After a mere 45 minute waiting in queue I was done and went on home, but not before doing some shopping for this week's bake.

Back home I started with the recipe from Mary Berry's show. The result was not what I expected as it was too little batter and thus resulted in a too thin cake. So tonight I'll have to start over again.

Afterwards my dear and me went onto The Secret World and made the Savage Coast more (un)safe. Following that we went onto the couch and watched the recent episodes of Castle (on Mars!) and Forever before we did another extensive play session with the cats and finally went to bed.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab wieder köstlichen Kaiserschmarrn.

Danach ging es nach Hause, von wo aus ich dann noch "schnell" zur Post gegangen bin einen Brief eingeschrieben aufzugeben. Nur 45 Minuten Wartezeit später war ich auch schon fertig und habe auch dem Heimweg noch für das dieswöchige Backen eingekauft.

Wieder zuhause habe ich mich dann gleich an das Rezept von Mary Berry gemacht. Das Ergebnis war leider nicht sehr befriedigend - die Masse war zu wenig und damit das Endergebnis zu dünn. D.h. ich muss heute Abend einen neuen Versuch starten.

Danach war ich mit meinem Schatz in The Secret World unterwegs, wo wir weiterhin die Savage Coast (un)sicher gemacht haben. Danach ging es auf die Couch und es gab die aktuellen Folgen von Castle (auf dem Mars!) und Forever bevor es nach einer weiteren Spielsession mit dem Katzen ins Bett ging.

Workout day

Yesterday I was with my dear for some physical workout after work. It wasn't bad and I have no sore muscels today, so we'll be doing this every second week from now on.

On out way home we stopped to take away some spanish/portuguese(?) snacks, which we ate at home.

After the usual dailies in Guild Wars 2 we went onto the couch and watched two episodes of Forever followed by one episode of The Big Bang Theory.

Gestern bin ich mit meinem Schatz nach der Arbeit turnen gegangen. Es war zwar etwas ungewohnt, aber ich habe mir auch keinen Muskelkater geholt - es wird also jetzt alle zwei Wochen Bewegung gemacht für den Körper.

Auf dem Heimweg haben wir uns noch unser Abendessen in Form von kleine spanischen/portugiesischen(?) Snacks geholt, die wir dann zuhause verzehrt haben.

Nach den üblichen Dailies in Guild Wars 2 ging es dann aber auf die Couch und es gab zwei Folgen Forever gefolgt von einer Episode The Big Bang Theory.

Tiredly baking

Yesterday evening I was quite tired and exhausted and just did some dailies in Guild Wars 2. Then I started baking - some lemon tarlets.

When those were in the oven we went onto the couch and watched one episode each of James May's Man Lab and Forever.

Gestern Abend war ich sehr müde und bin daher nur ein wenig in Guild Wars 2 gewesen. Dann fing das Backen an - Lemon Tarlets.

Als die im Ofen waren, sind wir dann nur mehr auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns eine Folge von James May's Man Lab und die aktuelle von Forever angeschaut.

Back to work

Yesterday was the first working day after my vacation and I had a lot of work to do.

In the evening I was at my parents' for dinner and it was a very tasty apple pancake.

Back home I was greeted by our two cats, who were very active the whole evening and played a lot. After I did my dailies in Guild Wars 2 I started baking for this week's sweet treat: walnut Gugelhupf

After that we fell onto the couch and watched the latest episodes of Sleepy Hollow, Forever and QI before finally going to bed.

Gestern war der erste Arbeitstag nach dem Urlaub und da ging es gleich wieder zur Sache.

Am Abend war ich dann bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab wieder die köstlichen Apfel-Palatschinken.

Wieder zuhause angekommen wurde ich von zwei Katzen begrüßt, die dann den restlichen Abend fast nicht zu bremsen waren, so aktiv waren die beiden. Nach dem Dailies in Guild Wars 2 habe ich dann die Süßspeise für heute gebacken: Walnuss Gugelhupf

Danach sind wir dann auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von Sleepy Hollow, Forever und QI angeschaut bevor wir ins Bett gefallen sind.

Prague - day 2

On our second - well first full - day in Prague we came around quite a bit. But first we had a good breakfast before we went up to the castle and then - with mild rain - we went slowly downhill from there.

Afterwards we went to a typical czech restaurant for lunch and the we went on into the city for some shopping.

After we stored our things in the hotel room we went out for dinner to a local burger restaurant, which was directly from the tourist guide. Afterwards we strolled through the Prague nightline - incl. the advent markets.

In the evening back at our hotel room we were able to watch the latest episodes of Constantine and Forever - thanks to a HDMI cable and the notebook with WiFi.

An unserem zweiten - eigentlich ersten vollen - Tag in Prag waren wir viel unterwegs. Zunächst sind wir nach einem guten Frühstück zum Schloss gefahren und im leichten Regen dann den Berg schön langsam wieder hinunter gegangen.

Danach sind wir in einem typischen tschechischen Lokal zum Mittagessen geblieben und danach ging es dann weiter durch die Stadt, ein wenig shoppen.

Nachdem wir unsere Sachen im Zimmer verstaut hatten, sind wir am Abend noch in ein Burgerlokal gegangen, quasi ein Geheimtipp aus dem Reiseführer. Anschließend sind wir noch durch das nächtliche Prag - inkl. Adventmärkte - spazieren gegangen.

Am Abend dann sind wir im Zimmer noch - dank HDMI-Kabel und Notebook mit WiFi - zu den aktuellen Folgen von Constantine und Forever zum schauen gekommen bevor wir umgekippt sind.

The age of dragons has started again

Yesterday I was at my parents' for dinner after work - it was very tasty plum dumplings.

After that I went home where my dear and our two cats were already waiting for me. I bought the latest incarnation of Dragon Age for my dear and it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the installation of the game took ages, but she was able to play a little anyway. Meanwhile I played with the cats and spent some time in Guild Wars 2.

We concluded the evening on the couch with one episode each of Constantine and Forever.

The pussy cat sometime likes to play scarf, but that's alright.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen - es gab köstliche Zwetschkenknödel.

Danach ging es nach Hause wo schon mein Schatz und die Katzen gewartet haben. Meinem Schatz hatte ich das neue Dragon Age gekauft und das war gestern angekommen. Leider hat die Installation ewig gedauert, aber sie konnte es dann doch noch anfangen. In der Zwischenzeit habe ich mit den Katzen gespielt und mich dann ein bisschen in Guild Wars 2 herumgetrieben.

Den Abend beschlossen haben wir dann auf der Couch, wo wir uns jeweils eine Folge von Constantine und Forever angeschaut haben.

Die Mieze-Katze will manchmal Halswärmer spielen und das ist schon ok.
