Mittagessen

Academy Awards aftermath

Yesterday I took a day off work, since the Academy Awards ceremony took quite long and I was able to go to bed at 6:30 in the morning. I didn't sleep that much then either.

We then went to do some shopping and had a nice burger for lunch/dinner.

Although I had taken the day off work, I was phoned by several colleagues - more actually than on a usual day at work. And since I take pride in my work I answered all calls.

In the evening we then did watch some BBC tv series on the couch and went to bed rather early.

This was the Oscars!

Yesterday it was the Academy Awards show on television and in prepartion for that I took a cat nap in the afternoon.

The show started way after midnight and this year I really enjoyed it again. My personal highlights were the candy rain, the smooth transition of the best songs into the show and the jokes weren't that bad either

The fatal mistake at the end with the best film was very nerve wracking, but the show had to go on.

Boardgaming all day long

This saturday we slept in and went grocery shopping at noon.

In the afternoon we were invited to boardgaming, where we played a lot of interesting and funny games.

We started with Captain Sonar a cooperative team version of battleships. At first it was a bit confusing, but on our second go we made it work and it was quite an exciting duel.

Then we played both Codename: Pictures and Codenames, so we could compare the two versions of the game. I still like the original better, but the pictures one is of course better in the context of not being tied to a specific language.

Then we played a card game called Fuji Flash. The goal is to get rid of all your cards on your hand, but in order to do so you have to play one card. If another player plays a higher card your card is lost and you have to redraw another cards to replace it.

Next up was Telestrations which is a very funny game. You have to draw things and give your drawing to the next player, who in turn must write down what that could be and the next player has to draw that again. This continues until every player has participated. And in the end you compare the original thing with the one that it ended up with. So for example you start with lepard and end up with cat-house.

After that we blew up kittens in Exploding Kittens. It's an ok game, but not so much my kind of game.

Then we added a hint of horror as we tried once more to solve the Betrayal at House on the Hill - this time it was an insane murdered running around the house. Well it was a relative of mine and I guess he just wanted to play a bit.

The conclusion of the evening was Time's Up Academy, which is an interesting combination of Activity and general knowledge. It's played over three rounds. The first round is about getting to know the things on the cards. One player tries to describe the thing and the other players from that team need to name it. In the second round another player tried the same, but only using one word per card. And in the final round yet another player does the same without any words. The good thing is that you know the things that are on the cards, if you remember them from the first round, as nothing new is added between rounds. It was a blast and we all laughed very hard.

Typical friday afternoon

This friday I stayed home longer after work before I went out to Mariahil for shopping.

After a short visit at Planet Harry I went to Temaya to buy the sushi for dinner.

Back home the food was well received and everyone was happy. The evening entertainment was some tv series on the couch as usual.

Freitag, 24. Februar 2017

What's left to say?

Yesterday I came home hungry, thanks to a very long meeting over the course of lunch and so we went out to shop for groceries right away.

Well fed, we then got onto the couch rather soon and tried to district ourselves from our current situation with some tv series. Out cats were also very happy with the additional attention.

Donnerstag, 23. Februar 2017

More books!

Yesterday after work I went out again to sell a boardgame we no longer play, but it was not as easy as it sound, especially when the meeting place was not uniquely specified. In the end all went well and afterwards I went to Planet Harry for restock of board games. Well not quite, as there was a sale of Warhammer roleplaying books and our japanes lord wanted some of those book. So I arrived with a list of books and left the store with two bags full of those books again.

Back home I entertained the cats and then played some Guild Wars 2, where there's a quest chain at the moment which grants you an ascended weapon in the end which is quite cool. I think my dear and I will soon be fighting our way through Tyria again.

After that we went onto the couch for one episode of BBC before I went to bed rather exhausted from the events of the last few days.

Mittwoch, 22. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Keine Schwierigkeiten mit Entscheidungen heute.

Gebackenes Schweins- oder Hühnerschnitzel mit Beilage nach Wahl

What a ... day!

Yesterday after work I went to my parents for dinner and got some tasty panckaes.

Afterwards I went home and due to the events of that day at work I only wanted to be on the couch and watch tv series - my dear and the cats next to me.

Dienstag, 21. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Coffee for the masses

Yesterday after work I went shopping for a Nespresso coffee maker for work - to raise morale a litte. Afterwards at home I did the last of the weekly cleaning of the flat and then we went onto the couch to watch some tv series.

Montag, 20. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Chores and Cthulhu

Yesterday I did the second half of the weekend chores. In between the cats wanted to be entertained as well. Later in the afternoon I finished all the things I needed to do and then went with some Cthulhu stuff onto the reading couch.

In the evening we continued to watch Jurassic World but we still weren't too happy about the storyline of the movie. By the way, I haven't posted my predictions for this year's Academy Awards but I hope to do so in the next few days.

Sonntag, 19. Februar 2017

Boardgaming!

This saturday in the morning I went to shop in Kagran, since we had guests in the afternoon for boardgaming. Before that happened I also did some of the weekend chores to make the flat presentable.

Then we finally started playing and the first game was Mombasa, a very complex but entertaining game.

Since the game took quite a while to play, we finished the afternoon off with some rounds of Codenames.

Samstag, 18. Februar 2017

Typical friday shopping

This friday I stayed home longer and went rather later to Mariahilf. So I just quickly shopped at myMuesli and Planet Harry and then picked up our food at Temaya.

After everyone at home was fed, we then went onto the couch to watch some tv series.

Freitag, 17. Februar 2017

Lazy couch evening

Yesterday after work I was doing some quick grocery shopping and then we spent the rest of the evening on the couch with support from our cats.

Donnerstag, 16. Februar 2017

Creative evening

Yesterday it was a creative ladies evening again and while the ladies were doing creative stuff I did some inventory duties on my printed Cthulhu PDFs. After that we watched some "funny" Trump videos on YouTube and after that the creative evening ended.

We then stayed on the couch to watch some tv series and after that we went to bed.

Mittwoch, 15. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Schnitzeln bis zum Umfallen!!!

Schwein- oder Hühnerschnitzel mit Beilage nach Wahl

So of this and some of that

Yesterday after work I was at my parents' and got some lovely Grießschmarrn für dinner (there's no picture this time unfortunately since I left my phone home by mistake).

Back home I went out again to the post office and then did some grocery shopping. I spent the rest of the evening doing some chores and then we went onto the couch and watched some tv series.

Dienstag, 14. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Short, but relaxing

Yesterday after work I went to the post office and did some grocery shopping. Later that evening we went on the couch for some time and relaxed a bit.

Montag, 13. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Yes, we are sick!

We did it and brought back (from the hospital?) some cold for us to hatch. So we spent the day at home and recovering.

Sonntag, 12. Februar 2017

Sick?

This saturday morning I picked up my dear from hospital and brought her back home. Afterwards I went out to do some grocery shopping and did chores, since my dear shouldn't sit or stand very long.

In the evening we had a small couch session before we both went to bed early - with a hint of cold coming up.

Samstag, 11. Februar 2017

Not quite the same friday routine

This friday after work I went home and out again to go shopping in Mariahilf. First up was Planet Harry and afterwards I visited my dear at the hospital, where she had a small operation.

On my way home I stopped at Temaya to buy some sushi for the cats and myself.

Afterwards I played some Guild Wars 2 before I went to bed rather early.

Freitag, 10. Februar 2017

Baking chores

Yesterday was a pretty routine day: entertaining the cats, doing chores and then I also baked something, vanilla-blueberry-cookies.

In the evening I played the new update of Guild Wars 2 for a bit.

Donnerstag, 9. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Und noch einmal eine Wurst zu Mittag.

Berner Würstel mit Zwiebelsenf und Pommes

Why are you doing this to us?

Yesterday we were once again talking to our lady in charge at MA11 and we were told again that she doesn't think we have it in us to be foster parents and that another meeting with her boss should clear things up once and for all. With this kind of information brought down on us, we spent the rest of the day not in quite a happy state - even lunch at Ebi7 wasn't tasting that good for us, although it was.

Back home I worked from home, while my dear went to friends to paint some miniatures. In the evening we disussed our whole situation again and after that went to bed without any further kind of entertainment.

Mittwoch, 8. Februar 2017

Guild Wars 2 update delayed

Yesterday after work I was at my parents and got a nice tasty dinner, which took the form of curd cheese strudel with vanilla sauce.

Afterwards I went home and out again to the post office. Then I stayed home and we waited for the update of Guild Wars 2. But a blizzard in the Seattle area made sure the update wasn't coming out, so we then went onto the couch for tv series.

Dienstag, 7. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Heute gab es eine traditionelle Speise.

Gekochtes Rindfleisch mit Röstkartoffel und Schnittlauchsauce und Apfelkren

Super Bowl aftermath

Yesterday after work I just went home and then we relaxed a lot and played with the cats - the yearly aftermath of the Super Bowl night, although I didn't stay up all night.

Montag, 6. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Yesterday we had a big roleplaying- and Super Bowl party. I started doing a royal speciality the day before - but without a recipe, because the BBC series where I saw the dish didn't have the rights to post a recipe. The next time I'm doing this dish I'll do a photo shoot and post my version of the recipe here.

Although the stability failed quite miserably, everyone was happy about the taste and everything was gone in a second.

In the evening there was roleplaying and then when the Super Bowl started, I went to bed. In the morning there were only some leftovers in the living room...

Sonntag, 5. Februar 2017

Shopping spree - one day later than usual

Yesterday we did our weekly shopping trip to Mariahilf and did some serious shopping at myMuesli and Planet Harry. Afterwards we went fpr lunch to Temaya.

Back home we started preparing the flat for today's visit for the Super Bowl and in the evening we went exhausted on the couch to watch some tv series.

Samstag, 4. Februar 2017

Gaming at work

This friday I stayed longer at work since I played some boardgame with a colleague of mine. Because of that I wasn't going to Mariahilf that day. Having said that, we both had a lot of fun playing Codenames and Arkham Horror: The Card Game.

In the evening back home my dear and I just went onto the couch and watched tv series.

Freitag, 3. Februar 2017

Assassin's NDS

Yesterday after work I went out shopping and I got some rare Assassin's Creed for the Nintendo DS, which I tried out at home.

Otherwise it was a rather quiet evening, which I spent with the cats and watching videos online, since my dear was out boardgaming.

Donnerstag, 2. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

Work and more work

Yesterday after work I went to my parents for dinner and I got a tasty Kaiserschmarrn.

After that I went - via public transport - to Planet Harry so that we might cheer each other up, which worked rather well.

Back home I tended to the cats and also did some work for my job.

Mittwoch, 1. Februar 2017

Mittagessen

End of ... workshop

Yesterday it was the last day of our C# workshop and it took longer than expected. Afterwards I met with colleagues for dinner at Böhmische Kuchl, but I arrived quite late since I had to drive home with the car through the "terrible blizzard" that hit Vienna.

But as you can see I didn't have to starve that evening and after that good meal I went back home. There I was greeted by my dear and the cats and we spent the rest of the evening on the couch with an episode of a BBC tv series before we went to bed.
