Settling with Star Trek

This saturday was much nicer weatherwise than the day before - there even was some sunshine. So we decided to extend our stay out - for collecting a new chair - to visiting Planet Harry and getting the weekly game fix. After that we drove to Natsu for lunch.

Back home the cats were astonished to get some fish, but the hunger quickly took over and they were very happy with the take away sushi. So we all had a great lunch with cold dead fish on rice.

In the afternoon we cleaned the appartment and after that played a board game: Star Trek Catan.

In this special version of the classical Settlers of Catan there are some rolecards added, which give the game some dynamic improvement. We just did a two player game, but it was just to get used to the new mechanics for today's Super Bowl party.

The evening was spent on the couch with the most recent episodes of Constantine and Helix and later an old episode of Top Gear before we went to bed.

Am Samstag war das Wetter schon wesentlich besser - inkl. viel Sonnenschein - deshalb, und nachdem wir einen Sessel abholen wollten haben wir beschlossen gleich weiter nach Mariahilf zu fahren. So sind wir kurz beim Planet Harry eingekehrt und ich habe die wöchentliche Dosis Spiele mitgenommen. Danach ging es kulinarisch weiter und wir haben unser aller Mittagessen beim Natsu abgeholt.

Wieder zuhause waren die Katzen etwas überrascht. Dieser Zustand ist aber sehr bald dem Fischi-Hunger gewichen und so waren wir alle zusammen happy mit dem Mittagessen.

Am Nachmittag haben wir die Wohnung aufgeräumt und danach uns einem Brettspiel gewidmet: Star Trek Catan.

Bei dieser speziellen Version von Siedler von Catan kommen Rollenkarten hinzu, die das Spiel dynamischer und flexibler machen. Wir haben es nur zu Zweit angetestet um es für den heutigen Super Bowl Nachmittag/Abend parat zu haben.

Am Abend sind wir dann zu den aktuellen Folgen von Constantine und Helix auf die Couch gefallen und haben dann noch eine alte Epsiode von Top Gear angehängt bevor wir ins Bett gefallen sind.

Friday - why can't it be friday all the week

It was friday again and we didn't leave the flat. Ok, just joking, of course we went to Mariahilf for shopping and strolling. We started at Westbahnhof and first visited Starbucks to get the birthday drink for my dear. Piece of advice though, avoid the cinnemon syrup as it really tastes very artificial.

Then we walked down Mariahilferstrasse and after some quick stops at various shops we arrived at Planet Harry. Some chatting and buying later we left again for getting food.

The food this week was provided by Natsu and Blutaumüller. And then it was time to go home again, where our cats were waiting for us and demanded their tribute.

In the evening I played a bit Guild Wars 2 before we went onto the couch for series watching. This time it was the most recent episodes of Helix and Constantine.

Es war Freitag und wir sind nicht aus dem Haus gegangen. Ach was, natürlich waren wir unterwegs und haben Mariahilf unsicher gemacht und teilweise auch aufgekauft. Beginnend vom Westbahnhof sind wir zunächst beim Starbucks eingefallen um den Geburtstagsdrink von meinem Schatz abzuholen. Gleich ein Tipp von uns, den Cinnemon Syrup nicht nehmen, der schmeckt nur künstlich.

Dann sind wir die Mariahilferstrasse runtergegangen und nach ein paar kurzen Abstechern bei diversen Geschäften dann im Planet Harry gelandet. Ein bisschen plaudern und einkaufen und schon waren wir wieder am Weg weiter.

Die nächsten Stationen waren dann kulinarischer Natur: Natsu und Blutaumüller. Dann ging es wieder nach Hause wo wir von unseren Katzen schon erwartet wurden und wo wir unseren Tribut in Fisch zahlen durften.

Am Abend war ich dann ein wenig in Guild Wars 2 unterwegs bevor wir auf die Couch gefallen sind und uns aktuelle Serien wie Helix und Constantine angeschaut haben.

Eight minutes game time

Since it was the beginning of a new week I came home somewhat exhausted. There were already cats waiting for me though, who wanted to be played with and they got their wish fulfilled.

Some time later we then continued on our quest to test and play more board games: Eight-Minute Empire

Conclusion: while it is quickly explained and played, it lacks depth and thus will probably end up in storage.

Later still we went onto the couch and watched the last two episodes of Constantine and the most recent one of QI angeschaut.

Gestern war Wochenbeginn in der Arbeit und da bin ich dann etwas erschöpft nach Hause gekommen. Dort wurde ich schon von Katzen empfangen, die nach Beschäftigung gesucht und dann auch durch uns gefunden haben.

Etwas später dann haben wir weiter gemacht und endlich wieder eines unserer Brettspiele aus dem Kasten getestet: Eight-Minute Empire

Fazit: an sich schnell erklärt und gespielt, fehlt es aber auch irgendwie an Spieltiefe und wird vermutlich auch ins Endlager wandern.

Danach war dann Couch angesagt und wir haben uns die letzte zwei Episoden von Constantine und die aktuelle von QI angeschaut.

Prague - day 2

On our second - well first full - day in Prague we came around quite a bit. But first we had a good breakfast before we went up to the castle and then - with mild rain - we went slowly downhill from there.

Afterwards we went to a typical czech restaurant for lunch and the we went on into the city for some shopping.

After we stored our things in the hotel room we went out for dinner to a local burger restaurant, which was directly from the tourist guide. Afterwards we strolled through the Prague nightline - incl. the advent markets.

In the evening back at our hotel room we were able to watch the latest episodes of Constantine and Forever - thanks to a HDMI cable and the notebook with WiFi.

An unserem zweiten - eigentlich ersten vollen - Tag in Prag waren wir viel unterwegs. Zunächst sind wir nach einem guten Frühstück zum Schloss gefahren und im leichten Regen dann den Berg schön langsam wieder hinunter gegangen.

Danach sind wir in einem typischen tschechischen Lokal zum Mittagessen geblieben und danach ging es dann weiter durch die Stadt, ein wenig shoppen.

Nachdem wir unsere Sachen im Zimmer verstaut hatten, sind wir am Abend noch in ein Burgerlokal gegangen, quasi ein Geheimtipp aus dem Reiseführer. Anschließend sind wir noch durch das nächtliche Prag - inkl. Adventmärkte - spazieren gegangen.

Am Abend dann sind wir im Zimmer noch - dank HDMI-Kabel und Notebook mit WiFi - zu den aktuellen Folgen von Constantine und Forever zum schauen gekommen bevor wir umgekippt sind.

A playful evening

Yesterday we spent the evening as an alternative gaming evening. First we tried out our latest board game Sushi Dice. Although it is a dice game I was lucky enough to win against my wife. More fun - especially because it adds another level to the game - it certainly is with more than two players though.

After that I tried to play a bit of Magicka on the PC - with a controller instead of mouse and keyboard. It's not much easier that way, but the controlls feel more natural. Afterwards I played some more Gauntlet with my dear, although we only managed to do one level, which was hard enough.

Then we went onto the couch and watched episodes of Once Upon a Time, Constantine and an old one of Top Gear.

Gestern haben wir nach dem Abendessen einen alternativen Spieleabend gemacht. Zunächst haben wir das neue Brettspiel Sushi Dice ausprobiert. Und obwohl es sich um ein reines Würfelspiel handelt, habe ich doch gewonnen. Lustiger - vor allem weil eine weitere Komponente dazu kommt - wird es aber erst bei mehr als zwei Spielern.

Danach habe ich mich ein wenig an Magicka am PC versucht - und zwar mit einem Controller. Das macht die Sache zwar auch nicht einfacher, aber die Steuerung - kommt mir vor - ist so etwas intuitiver. Danach haben mein Schatz und ich wieder Gauntlet weiter gespielt, allerdings nur ein Level und das war hart genug.

Dann ging es auf die Couch, wo wir uns jeweils eine Folge von Once Upon a Time, Constantine und eine alte Top Gear Episode angeschaut haben.

A foggy Saturday

On Saturday we were allowed to sleep a bit longer. My dear then went to her yearly baking session with friends and I planned to ship off some stuff to my parents' but the things were to big for the car and the weather was not great to drive in, so I finally decided against it. Instead I played some Guild Wars 2.

In the evening we then watched another epsiode of Constantine and played a lot with the cats before going to bed.

Am Samstag durften wir länger schlafen. Mein Schatz ist dann zu ihrer jährlichen Backrunde aufgebrochen und ich wollte eigentlich ein paar Dinge ins Haus bringen. Da sich die meisten jedoch nicht ins Auto ausgegangen sind und das Wetter zum Autofahren wenig ideal war, bin ich dann doch zuhause geblieben und habe mich in Guild Wars 2 herumgetrieben.

Am Abend dann haben wir uns eine Episode Constantine angeschaut und haben noch intensiv mit den Katzen gespielt, bevor es ins Bett ging.

Die Mieze Katze mag gerne Schal spielen.

Yesterday it was baking time of the week again and I have chosen a quick time consuming recipe: Povitica

In between the baking sesssions I tried - in vain - to complete some story line achievements in Guild Wars 2. Unfortunately the other players were either incompetent or left after 10 seconds being in the group. I think I have to rely on The Grey to do those achievements successfully.

We concluded the evening with recent episodes of Constantine, The Flash and Selfie. Meanwhile the cat we very tired and just slept for most of the evening. This means that they will be full of energy today and be hyperactive.

"Yes, I sleep in my new bed. What do you mean that this is mummy's bag?"

Gestern war wieder einmal Backen angesagt und ich habe mir ein relativ langwieriges Rezept ausgesucht: Povitica

Währenddessen haben ich - leider umsonst - in Guild Wars 2 Story Line Achievements zu absolvieren. Leider waren die anderen Spieler entweder unfähig oder nach 10 Sekunden wieder aus der Gruppe verschwunden. Ich glaub ich muss das zusammen mit den Grey nochmal langsam angehen.

Den Abend beschlossen haben wir dann mit aktuellen Folgen von Constantine, The Flash und Selfie. Die Katzen waren sehr müde und sind nur faul rumgelegen. Das bedeutet aber wahrscheinlich, dass sie heute hyperaktiv sind.

"Ja, ich schlafe da in meinem neuen Körbchen. Wie, das ist eine Tasche von Mama?"

The age of dragons has started again

Yesterday I was at my parents' for dinner after work - it was very tasty plum dumplings.

After that I went home where my dear and our two cats were already waiting for me. I bought the latest incarnation of Dragon Age for my dear and it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the installation of the game took ages, but she was able to play a little anyway. Meanwhile I played with the cats and spent some time in Guild Wars 2.

We concluded the evening on the couch with one episode each of Constantine and Forever.

The pussy cat sometime likes to play scarf, but that's alright.

Danach ging es nach Hause wo schon mein Schatz und die Katzen gewartet haben. Meinem Schatz hatte ich das neue Dragon Age gekauft und das war gestern angekommen. Leider hat die Installation ewig gedauert, aber sie konnte es dann doch noch anfangen. In der Zwischenzeit habe ich mit den Katzen gespielt und mich dann ein bisschen in Guild Wars 2 herumgetrieben.

Den Abend beschlossen haben wir dann auf der Couch, wo wir uns jeweils eine Folge von Constantine und Forever angeschaut haben.

Die Mieze-Katze will manchmal Halswärmer spielen und das ist schon ok.

TV series fall preview

Yesterday after work I was at my parent's for dinner - I got delicious rice souffle.

Back home, the ladies already started their creative evening program, so I went on shopping for my weekly baking. After that I played a bit with the cats and did my dailies in Guild Wars 2. After a short nap on the couch the creative evening program was already over and I needed to quickly bake for this week sweet delight - Rehrücken.

The rest of the evening we spent on the couch. First we watched an old episode of Top Gear. And then we found trailers for the upcoming fall series on Hulu, so we watched them all to see which ones migth be interesting for us.

The Flash - spin-off of Arrow in the DC universe about the fastest man in the universe, who starts out by hunting people with supernatural abilities who use their powers for evil deeds.

Gotham - the prequel to Batman, when he was just a boy and Inspector (later Commissioner) Gordon is hunting criminal minds. The becoming supervillians a re also featured in the series and perhaps one might get more insight on their development as well.

Constantine - based on the comic Hellblazer and centered around John Constantine, possibly closer to the original than the movie with Keanu Reeves. It's more like a Supernatural without any humor.

The Mysteries of Laura - a single mom and NYPD homicide detective in a - at least for us - unexpectingly funny series. This could be quite the competition for Castle.

Marry Me - an unlikely couple on their way to getting married, with funny complications. Might be funny enough to watch through the season, if the trailer is any indication as to the funniness of the series.

Ich war gestern nach der Arbeit wieder bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen - es gab köstlichen Reisauflauf.

Wieder zuhause angekommen, hatten die Damen gerade mit ihrem Kreativabend begonnen und ich bin noch schnell fürs Backen einkaufen gegangen. Danach habe ich ein wenig mit den Katzen gespielt und dann in Guild Wars 2 meine Dailies gemacht. Nach einem kurzen Nap auf der Couch war es dann schon so spät, dass der Kreativabend zu Ende war und ich noch flink zu backen begonnen habe. Heute gibt es Rehrücken.

Den Ausklang des Abends hat dann eine alte Folge Top Gear gemacht. Zusätzlich dazu haben wir uns die Trailer von neuen Herbstserien auf Hulu angeschaut und hier ist eine Auswahl jener, die uns interessieren könnten.

The Flash - Ableger von Arrow im DC Universum um den schnellsten Mann des Universums, der sich auf die Jagd nach Menschen mit übernatürlichen Fähigkeiten macht, die diese zu bösen Zwecken benutzen.

Gotham - die Vorgeschichte zu Batman, als dieser noch ein Kind ist und Inspector (später dann Commissioner) Gordon auf Verbrecherjadg ist. Auch die späteren Superbösewichte werden präsentiert und vermutlich deren Wandlung dargestellt.
