Film Review: Justice League

Yesterday it was monday again and we went to the cinema to watch the latest DC movie: Justice League

After the events of the previous movie (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) it's looking rather grim for the world. Superman is dead, the Earth is invaded by aliens (again) and the remaining superheroes are not up to the task of repelling them. So Batman and Wonder Woman are on a mission to search for new recruit and the balance things out again.

They try to win over Barry Allen (The Flash), Arthur Curry (Aquaman) and Victor Stone (Cycborg) to their cause, but are not quite as successful as they hoped. Still pretty much alone they face the invaders in (yet another) final battle for Earth.

It's a nice movie from the DC universe and has some funny lines, but in the end it cannot compare to The Avengers, although it should as this is pretty much the same theme. So DC will continue to stay as number 2 when it comes to comic movies.

Conclusion: it's ok and one of the better recent comic films, but nothing compared to Marvel's movies

Gestern war wieder Kino-Montag und wir haben uns den neuesten DC Film angesehen: Justice League

Nach den Ereignissen des letzten Filmes (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) schaut es schlecht für die Welt aus. Superman ist tot, die Erde wird von Ausserirdischen angegriffen (mal wieder) und die verbleibenden Superhelden fühlen sich der Sache nicht gewachsen. Also suchen Batman und Wonder Woman nach neuen Rekruten um das Gleichgewicht wieder herzustellen.

Dabei versuchen sie Barry Allen (The Flash), Arthur Curry (Aquaman) und Victor Stone (Cycborg) mit mehr oder weniger großem Erfolg von der Sache zu überzeugen. Noch immer fast auf sich allein gestellt, treten die Helden dann schlussendlich dem Bösen entgegen und es kommt (mal wieder) zur großen Abschlussschlacht.

Ein ganz netter Film aus dem DC Universum mit Action und ein paar witzigen Dialogen, doch schlussendlich nicht mit The Avengers zu vergleichen, obwohl das die Messlatte sein sollte. DC wird wohl auch weiterhin auf Platz 2 bei Comic Verfilmungen bleiben.

Fazit: ganz nett und einer der besseren Comciverfilmungen, aber an die Marvel Film kommt er eben nicht heran

Gaming and watching

Yesterday evening we went to Guild Wars 2 to continue our quest for the legendary staff Nevermore.

After that we played with the cats and then went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Legends of Tomorrorw, The Flash and Arrow.

Gestern waren wir am Abend in Guild Wars 2 unterwegs und haben unsere Reise für das legendäre Staberl Nevermore fortgesetzt.

Danach war spielen mit den Katzen angesagt und dann ging es auf die Couch zu den aktuellen Folgen von Legends of Tomorrorw, The Flash und Arrow.

More LEGO Dimensions

Yesterday I went out again after I came home from work to buy some cheap LEGO Dimensions packs. We are now more or less ready for everything the levels throw at us, until the next wave hits us in November...

After that I assembled the mini figs at home to check if they are all working - and they did. The rest of the evening we spent watching the latest episodes of The Flash and Arrow.

Gestern bin ich noch schnell ein paar LEGO Dimensions Figuren günstig einkaufen gegangen, nachdem ich nach Hause gekommen bin. Wir sind jetzt - so denke ich - mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht um alle möglichen Levels bestehen zu können. Bis dann halt im November die nächste Wave kommt...

Danach habe ich die Figuren zuhause zusammen gebaut und ausprobiert, dass sie auch funktionieren - was sie getan haben. Den restlichen Abend waren wir dann auf der Couch und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von The Flash und Arrow angeschaut.

The usual evening

Yesterday after work I went to the post office and then did some grocery shopping. Back home again I entertained the cats and later we went onto the couch for the most recent episodes of The Flash, Arrow and Would I Lie To You?.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit noch schnell bei der Post und dann einkaufen. Wieder zuhause wurden die Katzen bespasst und dann ging es zu den aktuellen Folgen von The Flash, Arrow und Would I Lie To You? auf die Couch.

Exhausting day

Yesterday after work I was at my parents' for dinner and I got Apfelstrudel.

After that I went home through the traffic jam - because of the bank holiday today - and when I finally was home I just had to lie down. Later we played some Guild Wars 2 and then we went onto the couch for one episode each of The Flash, Upstart Crow (a BBC comedy series about Shakespeare) and Kalkofes Mattscheibe.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit wieder bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab Apfelstrudel.

Danach ging es im Stau - vorlängertes Wochenende stand an - nach Hause und dort bin ich dann etwas fertig umgekippt. Später dann noch etwas Guild Wars 2 gespielt und dann ging es auf die Couch zu jeweils einer Folge The Flash, Upstart Crow (einer BBC Comedy Show über Shakespeare) und Kalkofes Mattscheibe.

Move your body and the mind follows

Yesterday after dinner we went out for a walk/run before the weather takes a change to wet and cold for the next few days and this kind of activity will become rather unattractive then.

After that we had a short session of Guild Wars 2 and a longer one while entertaining the cats before we went onto the couch for the latest episodes of The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Castle. Next week the season finales will start and after that it time for canned goods again.

The local milk scandal at work has not turned out anything positive yet - which seems natural given that there's no milk left now, until I buy a new one today - but I am considering to install a new security system which just needs some small adjustments before it can go live...

Gestern waren wir nach dem Abendessen noch schnell eine Runde spazieren/laufen bevor das Wetter der kommenden Tage durch den drohenden Regen diese Aktivität etwas unattraktiver machen wird.

Danach gab es eine kurze Session Guild Wars 2 und eine länger Session Bespassung für die Katzen bevor es dann auf die Couch ging. Angeschaut haben wir uns diesmal die aktuellen Folgen von The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. und Castle. Nächste Woche beginnen dann die Staffelfinale und dann sind wir wieder auf Konserven angewiesen.

Von der Milchfront in der Firma gibt es natürlich nichts Neues zu berichten - wie auch meine Milch ist aus und ich bringe erst heute wieder eine neue mit - aber ich denke daran ein neues Sicherheitssystem zu installieren, das muss allerdings erst entsprechend justiert werden...

Busy saturday

Yesterday we were invited for lunch by my family. Although everyone ate asparagus, I decided to go for chop of meat.

After that I had to do some IT support for my father and a friend in Klosterneuburg, before we went home again.

When coming home our cats were still rather sleepy, as they were sleeping in the warm sun all day.

In the evening we went on an adventure with friends in Guild Wars 2 and after that we watched the latest episodes of The Flash and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. each on the couch.

Gestern waren wir zu Mittag zum Essen mit meiner Familie eingeladen gewesen. Obwohl alle Spargel gegessen hatten, habe ich mich doch für ein Kotelett entschieden.

Danach ging es noch zum IT Service bei meinem Vater und einer Freundin in Klosterneuburg, bevor wir uns wieder auf dem Heimweg gemacht haben.

Dort haben uns dann schon verschlafene Katzen erwartet, die vermutlich den ganzen Tag in der Sonne gelegen sind.

Am Abend war dann eine Ausflug mit Freunden in Guild Wars 2 geplant und dann sind wir nur mehr zu je einer Episode The Flash und Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. auf die Couch gefallen.

Not going out

Yesterday we wanted to go out to a live-audiobook recording, but since the weather was quite bad and we were very exhaused, we decided to stay home instead.

At first we played some Guild Wars 2 and then it was time for the couch and the most recent episodes of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Flash.

Gestern wollten wir eigentlich am Abend noch zu einem Live-Hörspiel gehen, aber nachdem das Wetter extrem unwirtlich und wir sehr erschöpft waren, sind wir dann doch zuhause geblieben.

Zunächst gab es eine kurze Session Guild Wars 2 und dann war Couch angesagt mit den aktuellen Episoden von Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. und The Flash.

Late day

Yesterday afternoon we had a again a workshop and therefore we came back home later. On our way home we stopped at Sichuan for dinner.

After the feeding of the beasts and some follow-up entertainment we just went onto the couch to watch the latest episode of The Flash.

Gestern am Nachmittag hatten wir wieder Kurs und sind deswegen wieder spät nach Hause gekommen. Auf dem Heimweg haben wir dann wieder beim Sichuan zu Abend gegessen.

Nach der Raubtierfütterung und -bespassung sind wir dann nur mehr zu einer Folge The Flash auf die Couch gefallen.

Exhausting wednesday

Yesterday, after a long day at work, I was greeted by the cats when I came home and they wanted their food. After that was done, we had dinner and played some Guild Wars 2.

Later, after some play time with the cats, it was time for the couch and some recent episodes of The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and MasterChef UK.

Gestern ging es nach einem längeren Arbeitstag nach Hause und diesmal wurde ich schon von den Katzen begrüßt und um Futter angebettelt. Nachdem das erledigt war, gab es dann Nachtmahl und währenddessen haben wir uns ein wenig in Guild Wars 2 herumgetrieben.

Später dann, nach dem Bespassen der Katzen, ging es auf die Couch zu neuen Folgen von The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. und MasterChef UK.

At the vet part two - the wetting princess

Yesterday after work it was the pussy-cat's turn to go to the vet. Like the times before she was not very pleased to go and this time she wet herself (and me) quite a lot. So much in fact that I had to clean the floor and change my clothes before we finally went off.

At the vet herself everything was fine and madame is in perfect health. When we were back Bubu already waited for us and was very astonished when he smelled her. So she spent the rest of the day cleaning herself and relaxing from the terrible encounter.

In the evening we just watched some series, namely the most recent episodes of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Flash and MasterChef UK before it was bed time.

Gestern war nach der Arbeit war die Mieze-Katze dran zur Tante Tierarzt zu gehen. Wie schon die letzten Male auch, war sie dabei ziemlich panisch und hat sich (und mich) diesmal von oben bis unten angepinkelt, sodass ich den Gang aufwischen und meine Kleidung wechseln musste, bevor es dann wirklich los ging.

Bei der Tierärztin selber war dann alles aber kein Problem mehr und auch gesundheitlich war die Mieze ok. Als wir dann wieder nach Hause gekommen sind, hat der Bubu schon auf sie gewartet und sich gewundert warum sie so streng riecht. Den restlichen Abend hat sie dann mit putzen und erholen verbracht.

Wir haben dann am Abend nur mehr Serien geschaut und zwar die aktuellen Folgen von Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Flash und MasterChef UK, bevor es ins Bett ging.

Early weekly shopping again

Yesterday after work I went on my weekly shopping trip to Mariahilferstrasse, since we are invited to the birthday dinner of a friend tonight.

First stop was Planet Harry and there I got the gift for this saturday's boardgame afternoon. In addition I also got a rather sweet bluRay deal: The Martian, Mad Max Fury Road and season 1 of The Flash. So there will be some great movie nights soon at home.

After that it was time to grab some food for dinner - not week should go by without the weekly cat sushi! So this time I went again to Temaya and they also have take-away.

Well packed I went home, where the cats already waited for me (and the food to be honest). But we all waited until my dear came back home and then it was time for dinner.

Afterwards, as the evening entertainment, we watched the last episode of season 2 of Agent Carter, the last episode of season 3 of James May's Cars of the People and the very first episode of Back in Time for the Weekend.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit auf dem Shopping Trip auf der Mariahilferstrasse, nachdem wir heute Abend von einer Freundin zu ihrem Geburtstagsabendessen eingeladen sind.

Zunächst war ich beim Planet Harry und habe die Mitbringsel für den Spielenachmittag am Samstag erstanden. Dabei habe ich auch gleich drei Schnäppchen beim bluRay Abverkauf gemacht: The Martian, Mad Max Fury Road und Season 1 von The Flash. Also demnächst großes Kino zuhause.

Danach ging es daran das Abendessen zu besorgen - denn keine Woche ohne Sushi für die Katzen! Ich bin also wieder zum Temaya gegangen und sie haben das Essen auch zum Mitnehmen.

Gut bepackt ging es nach Hause, wo die Katzen schon gewartet haben. Wir haben dann alle gemeinsam - mehr oder weniger geduldig - auf meinen Schatz gewartet und als wir dann komplett waren gab es Abendessen.

Danach, als Abendunterhaltung, standen die letzte Folge der zweiten Staffel von Agent Carter, die letzte Folge der dritten Staffel von James May's Cars of the People und die erste Folge von Back in Time for the Weekend auf dem Programm.

Rice, rice baby!

Yesterday it was a longer day for my dear and myself so I decided on short notice to do our dinner cooking and produced a nice Reisauflauf (basically a baked rice pudding) for us.

After that I did my daily log through Guild Wars 2 and then it was couch time with the most current episodes of The Flash and Arrow.

Gestern war für meinen Schatz und mich ein längerer Tag und so habe ich kurzfristig für unser Abendessen gesorgt und einen Reisauflauf gekocht.

Danach war dann das tägliche Durchloggen durch Guild Wars 2 dran und dann ging es schon auf die Couch zu den aktuellen Folgen von The Flash und Arrow.

Lazy saturday

On saturday we tried to sleep longer, but we forgot to adjust the cat-o-watch and so we were up quite early.

Most of the day we spent doing chores and going to shop for food, since it was quite a warm day. Later in the afternoon we played a bit Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2.

In the evening it was time for tv series again: The Great Interior Design Challenge on BBC and the most recent episode of The Flash.

Am Samstag haben wir versucht länger zu schlafen, aber wir hatten vergessen den Katzenwecker anzupassen und so sind wir wieder recht früh geweckt worden.

Den meisten Teil des Tages haben wir dann mit Hausarbeit und einkaufen verbracht, nachdem es ein recht warmer Tag war. Gegen Abend dann waren wir ein wenig in Diablo 3 und Guild Wars 2 unterwegs.

Am Abend standen dann wieder Serien am Programm: The Great Interior Design Challenge auf BBC und die aktuelle Folge von The Flash.

Why, oh why you ask?

Yesterday our japanes guest was suddenly home. Although we were certain that he had his monthly meeting with friends from the AFS, this supposedly didn't take place and so he came home hungry. To tell us in advance and let us plan accordingly is obviously too much to ask of him. Also my question as to why he didn't tell us, was too much for him to answer. So he had to cook his own dinner and later I had to clean up the mess to make the kitchen habitable again.

After that the daily german torture with "crimbing on trees" began, so I couldn't try out the newly released XCOM 2 as I had planned. Let's just hope that he going to his "draining" today and we have some quite time in the evening.

After that was finished we went onto the couch and watched one episode each of The Flash and Agent Carter.

Gestern war unser Japaner auf einmal überraschend zu Hause. Eigentlich hätte er den monatlichen Stammtisch mit seinen Freunden vom AFS gehabt, aber nachdem dieser scheinbar nicht stattgefunden hat, ist er hungrig nach Hause gekommen. Auf die Idee uns vorher Bescheid zu geben ist er nicht gekommen und auch die Frage danach hat er nicht verstanden. So hat er sich dann sein Abendessen selber kochen dürfen und ich dann später die Küche wieder bewohnbar machen können.

Danach folgte die tägliche Deutsch-Qual mit "auf Bäume krettern" und "Förster am Finger haben", sodass auch meiner geplanten XCOM 2 Session nichts geworden ist. Hoffentlich geht er wirklich heute zu "Dräning" und wir haben etwas Ruhe am Abend.

Danach ging es auf die Couch zu jeweils einer Folge The Flash und Agent Carter.

The Angry Birds are coming to get you

Yesterday, when we came home, we had yet another surprise waiting for us with our japanese guest. He wanted to do us some good and help with chores, so he decided the clean and vacuum some rooms. The first part went perfectly, but the second was flawed as he was trying to vacuum with our water-based vacuum cleaner by added a plastic bag to the exhaust. Although the vacuum is not ruined, it took me 20 minutes to clean the whole mess, that of course didn't went into the bag, inside up. If you know how a vacuum cleaner works, you'll know why that happened.

After that the ladies were being creative and our japanese guest practiced his german by shouting sentences again. But this time he asked several times what the sentences meant - a notion we would have expected of him quite some time ago.

Afterward we went onto the couch and first watched some movie trailes followed by the most recent episodes of The Flash and Shadowhunters after our guests left.

Gestern, als wir nach Hause gekommen sind, haben wir mit unserem Japaner gleich die nächste Überraschung erlebt. Er wollte uns etwas Gutes tun und hat in Teilen der Wohnung sauber gemacht und gesaugt. Ersteres war perfekt, nur für zweiteres hat er ein Plastiksackerl in den Wasserstaubsauger gespannt und ihn damit zum Glück nicht ruiniert, aber zumindest ordentlich verdreckt, sodass ich ihn dann 20 Minuten saubermachen musste weil der ganze Dreck natürlich nicht ins Sackerl gegangen ist - wer die Technik hinter einem Staubsauger kennt wir wissen warum.

Danach waren die Damen wieder kreativ aktiv und der japanische Gast hat wieder Deutsch durch Schreien geübt. Wobei er diesmal sogar etliche Male gefragt hat was die Sätze bedeuten - ein Fortschritt, den wir uns schon viel früher erwartet hätten.

Danach ging es auf die Couch, wo wir zunächst Trailer geschaut haben und nachdem unsere Gäste gegangen sind die aktuellen Folgen von The Flash und Shadowhunters bevor es ins Bett ging.

Gugelhupf - a worthy bake for the last day of training?

Yesterday after work and training, I went to Fressnapf for food for our pussy-cat. Back home I found a small group of petitioner for said food, so I quickly fed the cats. After that I went shopping for our own food and I then I "made" Cordon Bleu with potato wedges - all from the deep freezer.

After that I baked - for today being the last day of training - a gugelhupf.

While the sweet bake was in the oven we watched the current episodes of The Flash, Arrow and Galavant - and in the end even tasted the baked good and found it to be very good.

Gestern nach der Arbeit und dem Kurs, bin ich noch schnell zum Fressnapf um Futter für die Mieze-Katze gefahren. Zuhause angekommen wurde ich auch schon von den Katzen belagert und entsprechend um besagtes Futter angebettelt. Nachdem das erledigt war, bin ich noch schnell Abendessen einkaufen gegangen und habe dann für uns Tiefkühl-Cordon-Bleus und Potato Wedges gemacht.

Danach habe ich dann für heute - zum Abschlußtag - noch schnell einen Guglhupf gebacken.

Während die Süßigkeit im Backofen war, haben wir uns dann die aktuellen Folgen von The Flash, Arrow und Galavant angeschaut - und dabei dann auch noch den Guglhupf verkostet und für gut befunden.

Surprise, surprise

Yesterday everything went smooth with our japanese guest. He was friendly, helpful, didn't bent the new key and he told us about his day on his own without us asking. Would have been nice to have started like this... However I think it's just a phase again and he'll soon be back to his other self.

For dinner I had to do a quick shopping trip and afterwards "cooked" us some schnitzel and fries in the oven since my dear was away longer than usual.

After that the regular tv series watching resumed after the break with The Flash and Arrow.

Gestern ist auf einmal alles glatt gelaufen mit unserem japanischen Gast. Er war freundlich, hat geholfen, hat den neuen Schlüssel nicht verbogen und hat auch von sich heraus erzählt was er an dem Tag gemacht hatte. Tja, wenn das halt von Anfang an so gelaufen wäre... Wobei ich ja vermute, dass dies auch wieder nur eine kurz andauernde Phase sein wird.

Für unser Nachtmahl war ich noch schnell einkaufen und habe die Schnitzel mit Pommes im Backrohr gemacht, da mein Schatz länger außer Haus war.

Danach hat der reguläre Serienalltag wieder begonnen nach der Winterpause: The Flash und Arrow standen auf dem Programm.

The weekend is near

Yesterday it was quite evening with the last episode of The Flash before the winter break and one episode of MasterChef: The Professionals.

Gestern war ein ruhiger Abend mit der letzten Folge The Flash vor der Winterpause und einer Episode von MasterChef: The Professionals.

Furios times

Yesterday we again had a small catastrophy since our japanese guest thought he had lost his/our key to the flat. After some time searching he finally found it amongst his chaos, but his carelessness and the lack of enthusiasm to find the key angered me quite a bit, so I couldn't talk to him for the rest of the evening.

After a short session in Guild Wars 2 we went onto the couch and wacthed the most recent episode of The Flash, and after that we watched Have I Got a Bit More News For You on BBC before we went to bed quite exhausted.

Gestern stand uns wieder eine kleine Katastrophe mit unserem japanischen Gast ins Haus. Er hat geglaubt, dass er seinen/unseren Schlüssel verloren hat. Nach längerer Suche hat er ihn dann doch in seinem Chaos gefunden, aber die Leichtigkeit mit der Tatsache umzugehen und der mangelnde Einsatz etwas dagegen zu tun hat mich einiges an Nerven gekostet und ich bin im Moment deswegen nicht gut auf ihn zu sprechen.

Nach einer kleinen Session in Guild Wars 2 ging es dann auf die Couch und wir haben uns die aktuelle Folge von The Flash angeschaut, danach gab es noch Have I Got a Bit More News For You auf BBC bevor wir geschafft ins Bett gefallen sind.
