Creative evening

Yesterday I was at my parents' for dinner and I got delicious pancakes.

After that I went home and then to the vet for our cat's special food and medicine. Back home again the ladies have already started their creative work and meanwhile I did some achievements in Guild Wars 2.

At the end of the creative work we watched trailers of the upcoming movies we are interested in. After we were alone again we played with the cats before going back to the couch to watch the latest episodes of Sleepy Hollow, Castle and Galavant.

Gestern war ich bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab wieder köstliche Palatschinken.

Danach bin ich nach Hause gefahren und dann zur Tante Tierarzt gegangen um dem Kater sein Futter und seine Medikamente zu kaufen. Zuhause angekommen waren die Damen schon aktiv mit ihrem Kreativabend und ich habe ein bisschen in Guild Wars 2 Achievements gemacht.

Zum Abschluss des Kreativabends haben wir uns dann Trailer der interessanten Filme der nächsten Zeit angeschaut. Als wir dann wieder allein waren haben wir noch unsere Katzen bespasst und sind dann wieder auf die Couch gefallen um uns die aktuellen Folgen von Sleepy Hollow, Castle und Galavant anzuschauen.

Eight minutes game time

Since it was the beginning of a new week I came home somewhat exhausted. There were already cats waiting for me though, who wanted to be played with and they got their wish fulfilled.

Some time later we then continued on our quest to test and play more board games: Eight-Minute Empire

Conclusion: while it is quickly explained and played, it lacks depth and thus will probably end up in storage.

Later still we went onto the couch and watched the last two episodes of Constantine and the most recent one of QI angeschaut.

Gestern war Wochenbeginn in der Arbeit und da bin ich dann etwas erschöpft nach Hause gekommen. Dort wurde ich schon von Katzen empfangen, die nach Beschäftigung gesucht und dann auch durch uns gefunden haben.

Etwas später dann haben wir weiter gemacht und endlich wieder eines unserer Brettspiele aus dem Kasten getestet: Eight-Minute Empire

Fazit: an sich schnell erklärt und gespielt, fehlt es aber auch irgendwie an Spieltiefe und wird vermutlich auch ins Endlager wandern.

Danach war dann Couch angesagt und wir haben uns die letzte zwei Episoden von Constantine und die aktuelle von QI angeschaut.

Relaxing ... well sunday as well

This sunday was similar relaxing as well as the day before. We again were allowed to sleep longer and then had a great breakfast. After the we went on to continue our quests in Lord of the Rings Online. So far we still aren't at the current maximum level of 100, but we are getting there and we made some major progress with the story line.

In the afternoon my dear went to a american football afternoon/evening meeting at a friend's place while I did some cleaning up and optimizing in Guild Wars 2.

Der Sonntag war ähnlich entspannend wie schon der Samstag. Wir durften wieder relativ lange schlafen und haben gut gefrühstückt. Dann sind wir gemeinsam in Lord of the Rings Online unterwegs gewesen. Wir haben das aktuelle maximale Level von 100 zwar immer noch nicht erreicht, aber wir machen Fortschritte mit der Story.

Am Nachmittag dann ist mein Schatz zu einem American Football Nachmittag/Abend bei Freunden aufgebrochen und ich habe ein bisschen in Guild Wars 2 organisiert und optimiert.

Lazy saturday

On saturday we were allowed - by the cats - to sleep longer, which we did. After that we had a great breakfast and then needed to do the shopping for the weekend.

In the afternoon I at first did my dailies in Guild Wars 2. Then, when my dear went to a board game afternoon I watched some of the tv series she is not interested in.

Am Samstag durften wir - von den Katzen aus - wieder länger schlafen und haben es auch getan. Danach ging es zu einem guten Frühstück und dann musste wir noch für das Wochenende einkaufen gehen.

Den Nachmittag habe ich zunächst mit Guild Wars 2 und Dailies verbracht. Mein Schatz ist dann zu einen Brettspielnachmittag aufgebrochen und ich habe dann noch diverse Serien nachgeschaut, die sie nicht interessieren.

Fridays are great!

This friday's tour to Mariahilf started with a good lunch at home. After that I was off to do some shopping, but just the short version of it this time.

So first I was at Planet Harry for the weekly games fix, then I bought food at Cornwall Pasty Pirates, Natsu and finally Blutaumüller. Well equipped I then went home again, where I was allowed to share the fish by/with our cats, which made them very happy.

The evening I spent trying out the free weekend of Civilization: Beyond Earth on Steam. I must confess that as of lately I'm not that fond of games anymore that take ages to accomplish anything - perhaps time has gotten to precious for me. So I'm glad I tested it and know for sure that I don't need to buy it in the future.

The evening was traditionally conluded by watch tv series on the couch.

Der freitägliche Ausflug nach Mariahilf hat zuerst mit einem guten Mittagessen zuhause begonnen. Danach ging es dann zum Shoppen, wobei die Tour diesmal kürzer war.

Also da was zunächst der Planet Harry für die wöchentliche Dosis Spiele, dann ging es weiter zum Essenkauf bei den Cornwall Pasty Pirates, dem Natsu und dem Blutaumüller. Gut bepackt bin ich dann schlussendlich wieder nach Hause gefahren, wo ich gleich meinen Fisch abgeben durfte und so Katzen glücklich gemacht habe.

Den Abend habe ich ein wenig mit dem gratis Spielwochenende von Civilization: Beyond Earth verbracht. Ich musste aber feststellen, dass mir Spiele die ewig dauern bis man ein Erfolgserlebnis hat nicht mehr so viel Spaß machen wie früher - vermutlich weil Zeit kostbarer geworden ist. Daher bin ich zwar dankbar für den gratis Test aber auch froh, dass ich mir das Spiel nie kaufen werden muss.

Den Abend beschlossen haben wir dann traditionellerweise auf der Couch mit Fernsehserien.

Welcome to the family - SSD drive

Yesterday I received my - spontaneously ordered a few days ago - SSD drive via mail. After work back home I then immediately installed it with Windows 8.1 and after half an hour everything worked again. No troubles whatsoever. It now a quick alternative for programms I use quite often.

After much testing of the new drive we then went onto the couch and watched The Big Fat Anniversary Quiz with Jimmy Carr and after that the most recent episode of The Mysteries of Laura angeschaut.

Gestern habe ich das - vor einigen Tagen spontan bestellte - SSD-Laufwerk mit der Post geliefert bekommen. Wie ich nach der Arbeit nach Hause gekommen bin, habe ich es natürlich gleich eingebaut und mir Windows 8.1 installiert. Und was soll ich sagen, innerhalb von 30 Minuten war alles erledigt - keine Probleme. Jetzt habe ich eine schnelle Alternative für Programme, die ich öfters verwende und ich bin sehr zufrieden damit.

Nach dem ausgiebigen Testen des Laufwerks sind wir dann allerding auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns das Big Fat Anniversary Quiz mit Jimmy Carr und danach die aktuelle Folge von Mysteries of Laura angeschaut.

Tiredly baking

Yesterday evening I was quite tired and exhausted and just did some dailies in Guild Wars 2. Then I started baking - some lemon tarlets.

When those were in the oven we went onto the couch and watched one episode each of James May's Man Lab and Forever.

Gestern Abend war ich sehr müde und bin daher nur ein wenig in Guild Wars 2 gewesen. Dann fing das Backen an - Lemon Tarlets.

Als die im Ofen waren, sind wir dann nur mehr auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns eine Folge von James May's Man Lab und die aktuelle von Forever angeschaut.

Guild Wars 2 - Point of No Return

Yesterday after work I went to my parents for dinner and is was again a great Kaiserschmarrn.

After that I went home and quickl helped a friend with her Wintersday achievements in Guild Wars 2. Just in time for the new update, which we then played afterwards for most of the evening and watched the great story resolve.

Later yet we went onto the couch and watched episodes of James May's Man Lab and Castle.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab köstlichen Kaiserschmarrn.

Danach ging es nach Hause und ich habe noch schnell einer Freundin mit den Wintersday Achievements in Guild Wars 2 geholfen. Gerade rechtzeitig, denn das neue Update war dann schon relativ früh da und wir haben dann den restlichen Abend die neue Story angeschaut.

Ganz später dann ging es noch auf die Couch und es gab eine Folge von James May's Man Lab und Castle.

It's time for holiday plans

Yesterday, after coming home from work, there was need to do more chores at home. After we finished doing this, the flat was again in a presentable state so we started with our evening program.

First we went to Guild Wars 2, the last chance to do some of the Wintersday festival stuff before the update today. Apart from one small missunderstanding with another player everything went fine though.

After that we started to put up the (drinking) fountain for our cats we got as a Christmas present from a friend. At first the new thing was quite dangerous but over time the cats were courageous enough to go near it - picture of this will be posted in the coming days.

The conclusion of the day was once again watching series on the couch. First up was the most recent episode of QI, followed by an old episode of James May's Man Lab and in the end we watched the first episode of James Nesbitt's Ireland, a short series about the beauties of the Emerald Island, which sparked some holidays planning on it's own.

Gestern war, nach dem Heimkommen aus der Arbeit, wieder weitere Hausarbeit angesagt. Nachdem das erledigt war und die Wohnung von wieder in einem annehmbaren Zustand gebracht wurde, haben wir uns dem Abendprogramm gewidmet.

Zunächst sind wir nach Guild Wars 2 gegangen um die Wintersday Festival Sachen zu einem Abschluss zu bringen. Dabei ging alles - bis auf ein blödes Missverständnis mit einem anderen Spieler - relativ glatt.

Danach haben wir endlich den (Trink)Brunnen, den wir von einer Freundin zu Weihnachten bekommen hatte, in Betrieb genommen. Die Katzen waren sehr interessiert und vorsichtig beim Inspizieren - Bilder dazu werden in den nächsten Tagen nachgereicht.

Den Abschluss des Tages haben dann wieder Serien gemacht. Zunächst die aktuelle Folge von QI, gefolgt von einer alten Folge von James May's Man Lab und zum Schluss die erste Folge von James Nesbitt's Ireland, einer kurzen Serie über Irland, was wieder zu Urlaubswünschen geführt hat.

Sleep is overrated - especially on the weekend

After spending the night at the sleep lab - with about 5 hours of total sleep incl. interruptions - I came home quite early and was greeted by two cats who wanted to be taken care of. After that I lay down myself to make up for some of my missing sleeping time.

In the afternoon we wanted to play some Star Trek Attack Wing, but other things came up and finally we stayed at Lord of the Rings Online for quite a bit instead.

The evening on the couch consisted of the last live show of Monty Pythons followed by one old episode each of James May's Man Lab and Top Gear before it was bed time again.

Nach der Nacht im Schlaflabor - mit ca. 5 Stunden Schlaf mit Unterbrechungen - bin ich sehr früh nach Hause gekommen und wurde von zwei Katzen empfangen, die gleich versorgt werden wollten. Danach habe ich mich dann hingelegt um den Schlaf der Nacht etwas nachzuholen.

Am Nachmittag wollten wir dann Star Trek Attack Wing spielen, sind aber von anderen Sachen abgelenkt worden und schlussendlich dann bei Lord of the Rings Online gelandet.

Die Abendbeschäftigung war diesmal schon früher dran und so haben wir uns dann zunächst die letzte Live Show der Monty Pythons angeschaut. Danach jeweils noch eine Folge von James May's Man Lab und Top Gear bevor es ins Bett ging.

Boardgames and surprises

Saturday started quite late, because we were able to sleep longer than usual. After breakfast we went shopping for groceries - well we flew would be more acurate as it was rather windy outside. After we returned home we were glad to not need to leave the flat again.

In the afternoon we then started testing board games again and so we played three of them to determine their worthyness to stay in our flat.

We started the test plays with Demon Dice - a dice game where almost each die has different faces and thus after a throw you need several minutes to figure out what exactely you just managed to throw. And needless to say, this game went straight to the games depot.

Up next was a game of pirates and loot with Buccaneer. You have to make a profit by plundering ships with a mixed crew of pirates. To make things interesting the captain of the crew has to pay each participating pirate his variable share and thus can even end up paying them from his own pocket. So you need to remember how much the crew wants before going for the plundering tour.

The game is ok and quite demanding in terms of remembering which crew consists of the most expensive pirates, so that you can still make a profit from plundering a ship. We'll keep it for now, perhaps playing it with a larger group of people first.

The last game was a slimed down version of the classical Inkognito. You have to find out the roles and code numbers of other players by deduction.

Since the two player version is rather dull, this one went to storage as well.

In the evening we played a bit of Lord of the Rings Online, before I got a phone call from hospital that there was a free spot that evening at the sleeping lab. So I took that - 2 month earlier - and went there straight away.

Der Samstag hat einmal ganz laaaaaangsam begonnen, nachdem wir uns relativ lange ausschlafen konnten. Nach dem Frühstück ging es dann zum Einkaufen, wobei gehen relativ ist - fliegen wäre ob der starken Winde wohl treffender gewesen. Mit Essen für eine Woche zurück, waren wir dann froh nicht mehr weiter aus dem Haus gehen zu müssen.

Den Nachmittag haben wir dann zum Ausprobieren von drei Spielen genutzt, um wieder mit unsere Brettspiel-Kasten-Projekt weiter zu machen.

Den Beginn hat Demon Dice gemacht - ein Würfelspiel bei dem fast jeder Würfel andere Seiten hat und man nach jedem Wurf einmal 5 Minuten die Bedeutung jeder geworfenen Seite nachschauen muss. Überflüssig zu sagen, dass dieses Spiel den Weg ins Endlager gefunden hat.

Als nächstes standen die Seeräuber im Mittelpunkt. Es gilt mit einer Crew aus Piraten gewinnbringend Schiffe zu kapern. Die Schwierigkeit dabei ist jedoch, dass der Kapitän der jeweiligen Piratencrew den Gewinn an alle beteiligten Piraten auszahlen muss, auch wenn es mehr kosten würde als erbeutet wurde.

Das Spiel ist ganz ok und fordert ziemlich zum genauen Aufpassen auf, welcher Stapel schon wie viel an Auszahlung verlangt. Es wird einmal behalten und in größerer Runde ausprobiert.

Das letzte Spiel war denn die abgespeckte Version eines Klassikers Inkognito. Dabei geht es darum, dass man durch geschicktes Ausspionieren feststellen muss welcher Spieler welche Rolle und welchen Code hat.

Leider ist die 2-Spieler Version extrem langweilig und daher wandert auch dieses Spiel ins Endlager.

Am Abend haben wir uns dann ein wenig in Lord of the Rings Online herumgetrieben, bis ich einen Anruf aus dem Spital bekommen habe, dass für mich ein Bett für diese Nacht frei geworden ist und ich meine Schlafanalyse jetzt knapp 2 Monate vor meinem eigentlichen Termin haben könne. Natürlich habe ich zugesagt und bin so recht abrupt aufgebrochen.

Friday shopping tour

And once again it was Friday. As soon as this week has started it was over again, so it was time for the weekly shopping tour to Mariahilf.

But before we went, we had a quick lunch at home. After that we wanted to leave but our cats suddenly acted very strangely and were hiding under the couch. So we stayed home for a bit and made sure that everything was alright with them. We didn't find out what was wrong - possibly a mini earthquake that we weren't able to notice - but after about 30 minutes the cats were back to their normal self again. So it was safe for us to finally leave for shopping.

We started at Westbahnhof and shopping commenced on Mariahilferstrasse from there. First at myMuesli - where we bought more breakfast supplies - then to Planet Harry, who managed again to have gotten new and desirable games for us. On our way home we picked up food for the weekend at Cornwall Pasty Pirates, Natsu and Blutaumüller before finally making our way home.

Arriving there we were instantly greeted by the cats, who demanded their share of the food - even before we were able to change clothes. When they were finally happy, we then could eat our food as well.

The evening was spent the usual way: first gaming on the PC and later watching series on the couch.

Und schon war es wieder Freitag. Kaum hatte die verkürzte Arbeitswoche begonnen, schon war sie wieder aus und es war an der Zeit zum Shoppen nach Mariahilf zu gehen.

Doch bevor wir aufgebrochen sind, haben wir noch schnell zuhause zu Mittag gegessen. Danach wollten wir dann eigentlich los, doch plötzlich waren die Katzen ganz verschreckt und haben sie regelrecht versteckt. Also haben wir geschaut was los ist, aber nichts gefunden. Nach ca. 30 Minuten intensiver Betreuung sind sie wieder in ihren normalen Zustand gekommen und alles war vergessen. Unsere Vermutung war, dass sie etwas gespürt haben was für und nicht wahrnehmbar ist - z.B. ein Mini-Beben - und deshalb so verstört waren. Nachdem es ihnen aber wieder gut ging, sind wir dann nach Mariahilf aufgebrochen.

Dort haben wir vom Westbahnhof her begonnen unsere Einkäufe zu tätigen. Da war zunächst myMuesli - wo es wieder Nachschub für das Frühstück gegeben hat - dann ging es zum Planet Harry, der wieder etliches neue Spiele bekommen hat und die wollten alle mitgenommen werden. Quasi dann schon auf dem Heimweg sind wir zu den Cornwall Pasty Pirates und beim Natsu bzw. beim Blutaumüller eingefallen und haben uns mit entsprechend essbaren eingedeckt.

Wieder zuhause angekommen wurde das Fisch gleich requiriert, bevor wir überhaupt Zeit hatten uns umzuziehen. Also wurden den Katzen ihre Portion gegeben und dann durften wir auch zuhause ankommen. Also wir unsere Portion zu essen begonnen hatten, waren die beiden Katzen natürlich schon fertig, aber glücklich.

Den Abend haben wir dann zunächst vor dem PC verbracht und später dann auf der Couch.
