No baking this week
Yesterday I was quite exhausted when I came home so I had to lay down for a while. Because of that I couldn't/wouldn't bake anything and that's why there's no picture of baked goods in the blog and no sweet stuff in the kitchen at work - but I think my collegues will survive without any as well.
Later we fell on the couch and watched the most recent episodes of The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Castle. Afterwards it was one more entertainment time for the cats before we went to bed.

Lazy evening
Yesterday after work I was at my parents' and I got tasty pancakes for dinner there.
Back home my dear had her roleplaying group over. In the meantime I was playing some Guild Wars 2 and entertained the cats.
Later that evening we watched the most recent episode of Once Upon A Time.

Film review: Avengers - Age of Ultron
Yesterday we were at the cinena, but before that I went for a quick dinner to my parents - roasted dumplings with egg.
We wacthed the current Marvel film Avengers - Age of Ultron in 3D.
The Avengers are back and they once again try to make the world a safer place - but each one in it's own way. Tony Stark and Bruce Banner try it be creating an Artificial Intelligence, but their creation sees mankind as the biggest threat to the planet and tries to correct this. So the Avengers are forced to tkae action against their own creation to safe the world from destruction.
There's a lot of action going on, so much actually that you can's just follow it on the big screen. Add a whole lot of computer animated robots and two new characters (Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) and you have the right formula for this movie.
Conclusion: it's a good Marvel movie, although the story is rather light. For me the movie gets additional points for the one liners, which are perfectly timed and always hit the spot.

Yesterday we were at the Don't Panic Convention, which this year was combined with the Vienna Fantasy Gaming Convention.
So we mixed with the crowd and played some games.
First up was Istanbul. We made our way through the bazaar to collect the valuable gems.
After that we played the deckbuilding game Thunderstone Advance. While it was no completly new game, it still was interesting.
Unlike the next game we played: Munchkin Panic.
Here the known theme of Castle/Dead Panic (defend against masses of enemies) is combined with the one from Munchkin (hinder people from winning until someone wins anyway). This combination is very bad and so is the game. So it's fair to say that we didn't like it at all.
After that it was award time for the various competions. I took part in two of them - short story and roleplaying scenario - and what can I say, I won both of them!
The conclusion of the convention then was the auction of various things that haven't been sold so far. And we got ourselves some sauces, shirts and soft drinks for very little money.
Afterwards we went to a chinese restaurant nearby for dinner before going home to our waiting cats.
After feeding and entertaining them we went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Forever, The Big Bang Theory, Have I Got News For You and Coast Australia.

Boardgaming till we drop
Yesterday we had a traditional boardgame afternoon/evening/night at friends' of ours.
We started off with Dixit.
Then we tried a game our japanese Lord gifted us last Christmas - Alchemists.
In this game of deduction the players need to find out which (magical) elements are present in 8 given ingredients using experimentation. Since these combinations are random each game you can play it as often as you like. The funny part of the game is how you do your experiments: you can either give the mixed potion to a student to drink, which might lead to the student charging money after drinking a bad potion. But you can always drink the potions yourself, but you need to suffer the consequences yourself as well.
The game took for ages, but it was funny and interesting enough to play it again soon.
After that it was dinner time and we had a great feast.
The next game we played was called Särge schubsen (this translates to "pushing coffins").
Here you must quickly find out if the current dice roll fits one of your coffin cards and if so you need to hit the card in the middle of the table first. It's pure chaos.
It's an interesting game, as long as you are not too tired/slow to react.
Then we went into the desert and took part in a camel race with Camel Up.
You can either move a camel or bet on one during your turn. Once all camels have moved the round ends and you score. Once the first camel reaches the finish line the game ends.
The actual game play is exactly as exciting as it sounds and that's the game of the year 2014 for you. The main problem for me with the game is, that it doesn't scale with the number of players. So if you play with 6 people - like we did - you sometimes end up doing just one thing per round before it is over again.
To cheer us up we then played an alltime classic: Straw.
Afterwards we went digging through the ground with Saboteur.
You try to either reach the hidden gold or you try to hinder the others reaching to gold depending on your secret role card.
It sounds interesting enough, but once you play it it turns out that it isn't at all. The traitors have very limited chances to actually win the game and the hidden roles are totally useless as you have no advantage of not revealing how you play the game and thus everyone knows who plays against them by turn 2.
For the conclusion of the evening we went to a casino in Las Vegas.

Fridays are the best
Yesterday war friday and that meant going shopping on Mariahilferstrasse. First I went to myMuesli and afterwards to Planet Harry, but there wasn't anything new to buy for me there.
After that I went for food and shopped at Natsu and Blutaumüller. Back home I distributed the fish - cats first - and after that my dear went to the opera with her mother.
So I spent the evening first doing my EDX courses and then I went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Game of Thrones and Gotham there.

Finished another project
Yesterday after work I went to the gym with my dear so that we have earned the following first visit of the year at Tichy's.
Back home the cats were eagerly awaiting our return and didn't leave our side until they were fed and entertained afterwards.
After that I finished my PDF for this weekend's roleplaying contest with pictures from a dear friend. Unfortunately LaTeX wasn't doing the things I wanted it to do, so it took quite some time to finish the product. If anyone is interested in this I can provide the link to the finished product here (it's just german for now, but I'm planning to translate it to english as well).
Afterwards we went onto the couch to watch the most recent episodes of Arrow, The Mysteries of Laura and Masterchef before falling into our beds dead tired.

Vacation planned - check
Yesterday it was baking time again and I did another batch of Buchteln, which I almost perfected over the past few weeks.
After that I did some of my EDX course and have to say that I'm quite pleased with the state of those.
Then we finally planned and booked our next vacation and it's going to be to Milan for the World EXPO 2015 over Pentecost [rel.]!
The rest of the evening we spent on the couch watching the most recent episode of The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Masterchef.

Creative sleeping
Yesterday I was at my parents' for dinner and I got delicious apple pancakes.
Back home the ladies had their creative evening so I first played with the cats and then relaxed for some time in bed.
Later that evening - after a short planning session for a potential Milan vacation at the end of May - we went onto the couch and watched the most recent episode of Castle and Back in Time for Dinner.
