Boardgaming on a bank holiday

Yesterday we had dear friends over for boardgaming.

We started with a game all about the folk tales of the Brothers Grimm: The Grimm Forest. The players try - as on of the pigs - to build three houses. Like in the fairy tale it's not a good idea to rely on straw or wood to do that, as I learned first hand.

Then we started laying tiles in Azul. Here I tried a completely different strategy to last friday, but it didn't pay off at all.

The conclusion was a trip to Scotland where we brewed whisky and herded sheep in Clans of Caledonia. Although you only play 5 rounds it's a very complex and exciting boardgame.

After we showed to kids LEGO Dimensions, our guests went home and we went onto the couch for one episode of a BBC show before we went to bed.

Gestern hatten wir liebe Freunde zum Brettspielen zu Besuch.

Begonnen haben wir mit einem Spiel zu Grimm's Märchen: The Grimm Forest. Darin versuchen die Spiele als eines der Schweinchen drei Häuser zu bauen. Ganz wie im Märchen ist es nicht unbedingt eine gute Idee die Häuser aus Stroh oder Holz zu bauen, wie ich selber erfahren durfte.

Danach haben wir Fliesen gelegt bei Azul. Hier habe ich eine ganz andere Strategie wie letzten Freitag gespielt, die aber nicht aufgegangen ist.

Zum Abschluss sind wir dann noch nach Schottland gefahren und haben Whisky gebrannt und Schafen gezüchtet in Clans of Caledonia. Obwohl es nur 5 Runden gespielt wird ist es ein sehr komplexes aber auch spannendes Spiel.

Nachdem wir den Kids noch kurz LEGO Dimensions gezeigt hatten, sind unsere Gäste dann aufgebrochen und wir haben uns noch zu einer Folge einer BBC Series auf die Couch gesetzt bevor es ins Bett ging.

Last day with our guest *sniff*

Yesterday was the last full day with our japanese Lord and therefore we played another board game with him: Colosseum. Although the game does strike you as nothing special at first glance, it's actually quite strategic and well made. So it goes back into the cupboard with the good games.

Then we also went to the vet with our little Princess and got her the bi-monthly "small check-up" - incl. 50 gramms of fur that was brushed out.

In the evening we played some LEGO Dimensions before we went on to watch tv series on BBC.

Gestern war der letzte ganze Tag, an dem unser japanischer Lord bei uns zu Gast war und deswegen haben wir noch einmal ein Brettspiel gespielt: Colosseum. Obwohl das Spiel auf den ersten Blick nichts besonders scheint, hat es doch interessante Aspekte und Tiefen und wir daher gerne wieder in den Schrank der zu behaltenden Spiele gestellt.

Wir waren dann gestern noch bei der Tierärztin mit unserer Prinzessin und dort wurde wieder das "kleine Service" gemacht - inkl. 50 Gramm Fell ausgebürstet.

Am Abend dann haben wir ein bisschen LEGO Dimensions gespielt bevor wir zu BBC Serien übergegangen sind.

Fantastic deals and where to shop for them

This saturday we slept longer and since I still was tired from the trip the day before, we decided not to go to the spielespass, the replacement for Spielefest. Instead we first went to Sichuan for lunch.

After that we went to Mariahilf to shop at myMuesli and Planet Harry.

We also stopped at Müller to buy the newly released story pack for LEGO Dimensions for the recently released movie Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which we started playing in the evening at home - I have to say it's quite funny.

Later that evening we just stayed on the couch and watched some tv series.

Am Samstag haben wir länger geschlafen und nachdem ich noch etwas müde vom Vortag war, sind wir dann auch nicht zum spielespass, dem Ersatz für das Spielefest gegangen. Stattdessen waren wir zunächst beim Sichuan Mittagessen.

Danach ging es dann nach Mariahilf wo wir bei myMuesli und Planet Harry einkaufen waren.

Beim Müller haben wir dann noch das neue Story Pack für LEGO Dimensions zum Film Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them gekauft, welches wir am selben Abend auch gleich angespielt haben - sehr witzig muss ich sagen.

Den späteren Abend haben wir dann auf der Couch mit Fernsehserien verbracht.

Game and fun

Yesterday after work I went to the post office. Afterwards, when I came back home, it was the cat's time to be entertained.

After a short visit to both Guild Wars 2 and LEGO Dimensions we went onto the couch and watched the most current episodes of Once Upon A Time, QI and Westworld.

Gestern bin ich nach der Arbeit noch schnell zur Post gegangen. Danach, als ich wieder zuhause war, ging es daran die Katzen zu bespassen.

Nach einem Kurzabstecher nach Guild Wars 2 und LEGO Dimensions sind wir dann auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von Once Upon A Time, QI und Westworld angeschaut.

More LEGO Dimensions

Yesterday I went out again after I came home from work to buy some cheap LEGO Dimensions packs. We are now more or less ready for everything the levels throw at us, until the next wave hits us in November...

After that I assembled the mini figs at home to check if they are all working - and they did. The rest of the evening we spent watching the latest episodes of The Flash and Arrow.

Gestern bin ich noch schnell ein paar LEGO Dimensions Figuren günstig einkaufen gegangen, nachdem ich nach Hause gekommen bin. Wir sind jetzt - so denke ich - mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht um alle möglichen Levels bestehen zu können. Bis dann halt im November die nächste Wave kommt...

Danach habe ich die Figuren zuhause zusammen gebaut und ausprobiert, dass sie auch funktionieren - was sie getan haben. Den restlichen Abend waren wir dann auf der Couch und haben uns die aktuellen Folgen von The Flash und Arrow angeschaut.

Friday at home

This friday after work I went out for a quick grocery shopping trip, but otherwise stayed home and entertained the cats.

In the evening we played some LEGO Dimensions before we went to bed.

Am Freitag bin ich nach der Arbeit nach Hause gefahren und war nur kurz noch einkaufen. Danach bin ich aber zuhause geblieben und habe mich mit den Katzen beschäftigt.

Am Abend haben wir dann ein bisschen LEGO Dimensions gespielt bevor es ins Bett ging.

The weekly routine is back

Yesterday after work I was at my parents' for dinner and got a tasty Kaiserschmarrn.

Afterwards I went home to entertain the cats after that I played some LEGO Dimensions.

The evening concluded with the most recent episodes of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Timeless and Supergirl.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit wieder bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab köstlichen Kaiserschmarrn.

Danach ging es nach Haus zum Katzen-Bespassen und etwas LEGO Dimensions spielen.

Den Abend haben wir dann auf der Couch mit den aktuellen Folgen von Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Timeless und Supergirl beschlossen.

More LEGO Dimensions minifigs incoming

Yesterday after work I went shopping again to buy some cheap LEGO Dimensions minifigs at Saturn.

Back home I started to assemble them - under the supervision of the cats - and added those figures to our collection.

In the evening we watched the current episode of Once Upon A Time and Mock The Week before it was time for bed.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit noch shoppen und habe günstig ein paar LEGO Dimensions Figuren beim Saturn erstanden.

Diese Figuren wurden dann auch gleich - unter der Aufsicht der Katzen - zusammen gebaut und in die Sammlung aufgenommen.

Am Abend haben wir uns dann die aktuelle Folge von Once Upon A Time und Mock The Week angeschaut, bevor es ins Bett ging.

Good food, good game

Yesterday my parents-in-law invited us to EBI7 for lunch, which was again very good.

After we were full, we went to Morawa at Wetsbahnhof and home after that, where the cats waited already.

My dear went out to a friend and so I spent the afternoon playing some LEGO Dimensions alone, but continued to play toegther when she came back. Now we have finished the story line, there are many worlds and levels still to be explored.

Gestern waren wir mit den Schwiegereltern im EBI7 zum Mittagessen, und es war gut wie immer.

Nachdem wir satt waren ging es noch zum Morawa im Wetsbahnhof und dann nach Hause, wo die Katzen schon gewartet haben.

Mein Schatz war dann noch eine Freundin besuchen und so haben ich ein bisschen LEGO Dimensions allein gespielt, was wir dann auch fortgesetzt haben, als sie wieder nach Hause gekommen ist. Wir sind jetzt mit der Story durch und können uns den vielen verschiedenen Welten und anderen Levels widmen.

This was my birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday and so we spent a relaxed day. We wanted to do the weekly shopping trip, but this time we went to Donauzentrum to check out the cheapest LEGO Dimensions.

But first it was time for lunch at Burgerista for some nice burger.

After that we decided that Müller had the cheapest LEGO Dimensions and so we bought the latest sets that were interesting for us. For later that day we then stocked some donuts at Tasty Donuts.

In the evening it was our own private Oktoberfest with beer and weisswurst.

The conclusion of the day was that we played LEGO Dimensions until we were too tired to continue.

Gestern war mein Geburtstag und so haben wir den Tag gemütlich verbracht. Um die Einkaufstour nachzuholen sind wir diesmal ins Donauzentrum gefahren und haben dort nach günstigen LEGO Dimensions Ausschau gehalten.

Doch zunächst sind wir beim Burgerista auf einen guten Burger eingefallen.

Danach war der Müller das günstigste Geschäft für die neuen LEGO Dimensions Sets und da haben wir dann zugeschlagen. Als Verpflegung für den Abend haben wir uns dann noch bei den Tasty Donuts versorgt.

Am Abend gab es dann noch Weisswürstl und Bier - in einem kleinen privaten Oktoberfest.

Zum Abschluss des Tages haben wir dann noch LEGO Dimensions gespielt bis zum Umfallen.

Quite boring evening

Yesterday after work I stayed home while my dear went to meet a friend of hers. So I entertained the cats and played some LEGO Dimensions.

"More entertaining, less LEGO Dimensions!"

Gestern bin ich nach der Arbeit zuhause geblieben, während mein Schatz sich mit einer Freundin getroffen hat. Ich habe mich dann mit den Katzen beschäftigt und ein bisschen LEGO Dimensions gespielt.

"Mehr Bespassung, weniger LEGO Dimensions!"

Tiramisu!

Yesterday after work I went to my parents' for dinner and I got the birthday tiramisu.

After that I went home and then we went for a walk through Böhmischer Prater.

In the evening we played one level of LEGO Dimensions followed by watching two episodes of Mock The Week.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab das Geburtstags Tiramisu.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dann sind wir noch eine Runde im Böhmischen Prater spazieren gegangen.

Am Abend war dann ein Level bei LEGO Dimensions an der Reihe, gefolgt von zwei Episoden Mock The Week.

Birthday lunch (early)

Yesterday for lunch we went to Klaghofer for our yearly birthday lunch.

Well stuffed afterwards we had to do some minors tasks, but in the end everything was finished - including me - so once we were back home I just collapsed and had to relax.

Later that evening we just had another session with LEGO Dimensions before we finally went to bed.

Gestern zu Mittag waren wir beim traditionellen Geburtstagsessen beim Klaghofer eingeladen.

Danach ging es gut gefüllt nicht direkt nach Hause, sondern es mussten noch diverse Kleinigkeiten erledigt werden. Zum Schluss war alles erledigt - inklusiver mir - und so bin ich zuhause fertig ins Bett gefallen.

Am späteren Abend gab es dann noch eine LEGO Dimensions Session bevor es schlussendlich ins Bett ging.

Baking and cruising

On saturday we were grocery shopping, as we had friends over in the afternoon. My bake from the day before was also quite nice and so we were well prepared.

In the afternoon we had friends over to give them our presentation on our cruise. All went well and I also gave them a presentation of my soda bread baking - tasting afterwards included.

In the evening, after they were gone, we played some LEGO Dimensions before we went dead tired to bed.

Am Samstag waren wir zunächst noch einkaufen, da wir am Nachmittag Gäste hatten. Meine Kardinalschnitte vom Vorabend ist recht gut gelungen und auch ansonsten haben wir uns gut vorbereitet.

Am Nachmittag sind dann Freunde von uns zu Besuch gewesen, denen wir nach einer Jause die Kreuzfahrt Präsentation gegeben haben. Alles in allem ist alles gut gegangen und auch die Live Präsentation vom Soda Bread Backen lief ohne Probleme.

Am späteren Abend dann haben wir noch ein bisschen LEGO Dimensions gespielt bevor wir müde und fertig ins Bett gefallen sind.

LEGO Dimensions forever!

On friday we had a different shoppinh trip than usual. But first we went to Sichuan for lunch.

After that we went to the Game City at the town hall - a free PC and konsole gaming exhibitions, which lasts three days. Although we had a timeslot for the new VR glasses for Playstation 4, we waited quite a while to try them out and weren't given that much time either. All in all, nothing special though.

Afterwards we went to Westbahnhof, where we visited the GameStop to get us some cheap LEGO Dimensions packs.

We went on to Planet Harry after that, where we stayed only for a short time and didn't buy anything because of my upcoming birthday.

The last stop before we went home was Saturn where we bought LEGO Dimensions for a friend and we also found some cheap packs for ourselves. So right now we have most of the good stuff covered.

We didn't bring sushi this time, but the cats were not that disappointed as I was baking in the evening and they got some milk and cream to "taste".

In the evening we played with the new LEGO Dimensions mini figs and were very happy with them.

Am Freitag haben wir ein etwas ungewöhnliches Freitagsprogramm absolviert. Zunächst waren wir beim Sichuan Mittagessen.

Danach sind wir zum Game City ins Rathaus gefahren - einer gratis PC- und Konsolen-Messe, die über drei Tage dort stattfindet. Trotz Terminslot bei einer der Attraktionen - die neue VR-Brille von der Playstation 4 - haben wir etliche Zeit warten müssen und sind dann auch nur recht schnell abgefertigt worden. Alles in allem, nichts Spezielles.

Danach ging es zum Westbahnhof, wo wir beim GameStop ein paar günstige LEGO Dimensions Figuren eingekauft haben.

Dann ging es weiter zum Planet Harry, wo wir aber nicht lange geblieben sind und ich mir wegen meinem kommenden Geburtstag auch nichts kaufen durfte.

Der letzte Stop vor dem Nachhausegehen war dann noch der Saturn wo wir für eine Freundin LEGO Dimensions gekauft haben und uns wieder ein paar günstige Figuren gefunden haben. Jetzt sind wir schon relativ gut ausgestattet.

Ausnahmsweise gab es diesmal keine Sushi für die Katzen, aber nachdem ich noch am Abend gebacken habe ist dort etwas für die in Form von Milch und Schlagobers abgefallen.

Am Abend dann haben wir die neuen LEGO Dimensions Figuren eingespielt und sind sehr glücklich mit ihnen.

The Doctor is in the house

Yesterday after work I still had much to do. First I went to the flat of our friends to water their plants. After that I went to Hofer to buy the latest bargain PC for both my father and father-in-law for their birthdays. Afterward I went home and out again to the post office and for grocery shopping.

Once all that was done, I just collapsed at home and did some routine stuff. The cats really liked the new PC I bought.

In the evening we fell onto the couch and played the newly acquired Doctor Who level for LEGO Dimensions - travelling through time and kicking some Dalek butt in the process, what's not to love?

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit noch viel unterwegs. Zunächst in der Wohnung unserer Freunde Blumen gießen. Danach ging es zum Hofer um den aktuellen PC sowohl für meinen Vater als auch Schwiegervater zum Geburtstag zu besorgen. Dann ging es nach Hause und gleich wieder weg zur Post und zum Einkaufen.

Nachdem das alles erledigt war, bin ich zuhause nur mal umgefallen und haben noch allfälliges erledigt. Die Katzen haben die PCs aber auch gleich ins Herz geschlossen.

Am Abend sind wir dann auf die Couch gefallen und haben das neue Doctor Who Level von LEGO Dimensions gespielt - durch die Zeit reisen und Daleks verdreschen, was will man mehr?

Seasons are starting again

Yesterday my dear made me an early birthday present: the Doctor Who level pack for LEGO Dimensions. I started playing it a bit, but I guess we both will be playing the whole thing rather soon.

After that it was early couch time, where we at first watched the current episode of The Great British Bake Off, followed by the season starter episodes of Scream Queens, Lucifer and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Gestern habe ich von meinem Schatz ein Vor-Geburtstagsgeschenk bekommen: das Doctor Who Level Pack für LEGO Dimensions. Ich hab es dann nur kurz angespielt, aber ich denke das wird schon bald zum Einsatz kommen.

Danach ging es vorzeitig auf die Couch, wo wir uns zunächst die aktuelle Folge von The Great British Bake Off angeschaut haben, gefolgt von den Folgen zum neuen Staffelanfang von Scream Queens, Lucifer und Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Some kind of sport

Yesterday in the evening we went to UCI Milleniumcity, but not for a movie - we went to play billard. Since there was also an unoccupied snooker table it was snooker for me for the whole two hours. Although I was way out of practice, I really enjoyed playing again!

When we came back home, the cats wanted to be entertained and fed.

After that was done, we went onto the couch and played the Doctor Who story level of LEGO Dimensions - Allons-y!

Gestern waren wir am Abend wieder in der UCI Milleniumcity, allerdings nicht um ins Kino zu gehen, sondern wir waren Billard spielen. Nachdem es auch einen (freien) Snooker Tisch gab, war ich nicht zu halten und ich habe die zwei Stunden dort verspielt. Obwohl ich sehr außer Übung war, hat es mir doch gut gefallen!

Als wir wieder zuhause angekommen sind, haben uns die Katzen schon erwartet und wurden von uns bespasst und gefüttert.

Danach sind wir auf die Couch gefallen und haben das Doctor Who Story Level von LEGO Dimensions gespielt - Allons-y!

The Good Friends of Jackson Elias

On sunday we were up early and started to build our new LEGO Dimensions set and afterwards played it a bit. We like it very much and are glad that we got it rather cheap. So there will be some packs coming soon I guess...

My dear went to a gaming afternoon after lunch, so I worked on some stuff in the meantime.

Later that afternoon there was a Google Hangout with The Good Friends of Jackson Elias podcast, which was very good and we all had a lot of fun.

When my dear came back in the evening, we just played some more LEGO Dimensions to save the universe!

Am Sonntag haben wir gleich in der Früh begonnen unser neues LEGO Dimensions zusammen zu bauen und dann auch kurz anzuspielen. Es gefällt uns sehr gut und wir sind froh, dass wir es sehr günstig bekommen haben. Da werden wohl bald ein paar weitere Packs ins Haus stehen...

Mein Schatz ist dann am Nachmittag zu einer Spielerunde aufgebrochen und ich habe mich um anfälliges gekümmert.

Am späteren Nachmittag gab es dann vom The Good Friends of Jackson Elias Podcast ein Treffen auf Google Hangout, was mir sehr gut gefallen hatte und wo wir alle viel Spaß damit hatten.

Als mein Schatz dann am Abend wiedergekommen ist, haben wir noch ein bisschen LEGO Dimensions gespielt und sind dabei das Universum zu retten!
