BBC evening

Yesterdax I was atr my parents for dinner and I got some tasty apple pancakes.

Back home our guest was away at his rugby training and when he came back we had a quick dinner.

Later he went to bed early and we went onto the couch to watch The Great British Bake Off - Masterclass and Have I Got a Bit More News For You on BBC.

Gestern war ich wieder bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab köstliche Apfel-Palatschinken.

Wieder zuhause war unser Gast gerade beim Rugby Training und als er wieder nach Hause gekommen ist, haben wir dann noch schnell zu Abend gegessen.

Später dann ging er früher schlafen und wir sind noch auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns The Great British Bake Off - Masterclass und Have I Got a Bit More News For You auf BBC angeschaut.

Obwohl es Weißwurst gegeben hätte, habe ich mich doch anders entschieden.

Yesterday we picked up "our" exchange student and spent the evening with getting to know each other and watching Star Trek: Into Darkness.

The cats were not alarmed very much, except for the extra room now being closed most of the time, but they'll manage I guess.

Gestern haben wir "unseren" Austauschschüler abgeholt und dann den Abend einmal mit Kennenlernen und Star Trek: Into Darkness schauen verbracht.

Die Katzen sind nicht sehr beunruhigt gewesen, außer dass sie nicht mehr ins Kinderzimmer können, aber auch an das werden sie sich gewöhnen.

Die Woche fängt kulinarisch relativ gut an.

Danach wird es allerdings etwas fraglich, was ich den Rest der Woche essen soll.

Chores and television

Yesterday was a day for relaxation, but also for doing chores.

In the evening we watched series: Sleepy Hollow, Heroes Reborn, Scream Queens and The Big Bang Theory.

Gestern war ein Tag zum Ausrasten, aber auch zum finalen Wohnungsputz.

Am Abend dann waren noch Serien angesagt: Sleepy Hollow, Heroes Reborn, Scream Queens und The Big Bang Theory.

Boardgames!

This saturday we went to a board game afternoon with friends and we tried to play many different games.

We started with Exploding Kittens, a very strange game, where you have to try and escape the exploding kittens.

After that we tried Star Realms with six players for the first time and it went quite well, except that it took almost the same time to play and afterwards to sort out one deck from the cards.

Next up we went to Scotland, more precise to the Isle of Skye, where we tried to be the best chieftain - whisky included of course.

Before we had dinner, we just wanted to go to an inn and relax - with a nice Inn-Fighting. But since we started to play wrong, we didn't manage to finish in time for the real dinner.

Well fed we then went to Las Vegas to play in the casino.

Since we already were in America, we then took the train and went across the country - with TransAmerica.

To bring in more luck, we then went onto Roll For It! and tried to match dice rolls to cards.

The conclusion of the evening was a wild shot-out on a train - the Colt Express.

When we finally made it home, the cats were already waiting desperately for us, so we fed them and then went quickly to bed.

Am Samstag waren wir zu einem Brettspielnachmittag eingeladen und wir haben uns bemüht viele verschiedene Spiele zu spielen.

Begonnen haben wir mit Exploding Kittens, einem sehr abgedrehten Spiel, wo man versuchen muss den explodierenden Kätzchen zu entkommen.

Danach haben wir erstmals versucht Star Realms zu sechst zu spielen und das ist ganz gut gegangen, auf wenn das anschließende Aussortieren unseres Decks fast länger gedauert hat als das Spiel selber.

Als nächstes ging es nach Schottland, genauer zur Isle of Skye, wo wir den besten Häuptling gewählt haben - natürlich kam auch der Whisky nicht zu kurz.

Bevor wir zu unserem Abendessen gekommen sind, wollten wir uns in der Kneipe prügeln - mit Inn-Fighting. Nachdem wir es aber zunächst falsch gespielt hatten, haben wir es dann unterbrochen als das eigentliche Essen gekommen ist.

Gut gestärkt sind wir dann nach Las Vegas ins Kasino gegangen.

Da wir dann schon in Amerika waren, sind wir in den Zug gestiegen und quer durch das Land gefahren - mit TransAmerica.

Um wieder mehr Glücksfaktor ins Spiel zu bringen, haben wir dann Roll For It! ausgepackt und versucht die richtigen Würfelergebnisse zu erreichen.

Zum Abschluss gab es dann eine wilde Schießerei auf einen Zug im Wilden Westen, am Colt Express.

Als wir dann nach Hause gekommen sind, waren die Katzen schon relativ verzweifelt, aber sie wurden dann entsprechend schnell von uns versorgt und dann war alles wieder gut.

Shopping and building

This friday I was home after work but left soon after that to go to Mariahilf for shopping. The extended shopping trip brought me to Audiamo, myMuesli and Planet Harry. I didn't find anything special this time around, so I soon went on to buy food at Natsu and Blutaumüller.

Back home the cats were quite happy about the sushi I brought and after being fed I spent the rest of the evening assembling the newly aquired IKEA bed.

Later, when my dear came back home from her roleplaying session, we had a quick episode of Arrow before going to bed.

Am Freitag war ich kurz zuhause und bin dann nach Mariahilf gefahren. Auf der erweiterten Einkaufstour standen das Audiamo, myMuesli und Planet Harry. Etwas spezielles habe ich mir nicht gefunden und so bin ich dann weiter gegangen um unser Essen beim Natsu und Blutaumüller zu holen.

Wieder zuhause haben sich die Katzen sehr über die mitgebrachten Sushi gefreut und ich habe den Abend damit verbracht das neu gekaufte IKEA Bett zusammen zu stellen.

Später dann, als mein Schatz von ihrer Rollenspielsession zurück gekommen ist, haben wir uns noch schnell eine Episode Arrow angeschaut, bevor es ins Bett gegangen ist.

IKEA visit in the evening

Yesterday after work we went to IKEA, where we first had dinner.

After that we - amonst other things - got a new bed for the extra room and brought home the in total 100kg heavy monster.

In the evening it was couch time - this time with The Flash.

Gestern nach der Arbeit waren wir beim IKEA, wo wir uns zunächst ein Nachtmahl geholt haben.

Danach haben wir- unter anderen - ein neues Bett für das Kinderzimmer erstanden und das in Summe rund 100kg schwere Monster nach Hause gebracht.

Am Abend dann war kurz Couch-Zeit, diesmal mit The Flash.

Das Ende der kulinarischen Kantinenwoche bringt noch eine schwere Wahl mit sich.

It's the final week on Bake Off

Yesterday the ladies had their creative evening and I played some Diablo 3 in the meantime.

Later we watched the recent episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and after that the final of The Great British Bake Off.

Gestern hatten die Damen wieder einen Kreativabend und ich habe inzwischen etwas Diablo 3 gespielt.

Später dann haben wir uns die akuelle Folge von Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. angeschaut und danach das Final vom Great British Bake Off.

Yesterday after work I was at my parents for dinner and I got tasty pancakes.

Afterwards I went home and we continued our home improvement project.

Later it was couch time and we watched BBC: first the most recent episode of Have I Got a Bit More News for You (this time with Jeremy Clarkson), followed by Horrible Histories and in the end the last episode of the Hairy Bikers.

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit bei meinen Eltern zum Abendessen und es gab Palatschinken.

Danach ging es nach Hause und dort wurde weiter am Wohnungsprojekt gearbeitet.

Später dann ging es auf die Couch und wir waren auf BBC unterwegs: zunächst die aktuelle Folge von Have I Got a Bit More News for You (diesmal mit Jeremy Clarkson), gefolgt von Horrible Histories und am Ende noch die letzte Folge der Hairy Bikers.

Heute gab es wieder eine kräftige Portion Fleisch.

Film review: Inside Out

It was movie monday and we went to see the most recent Pixar movie: Inside Out

In this movie a small girl called Riley and the voices/emotions in her head are the main actors. Those emotions are not just imaginative but real small people who take control of Riley's life from a console inside her head and that way create memories that are stored. Due to a small mishap two of the emotions go missing and the rest of them (fear, anger and disgust) try to make their best to correct the situation, which goes terribly wrong.

The story is nice and tried to tell a funny story of growing up and explaining some phases of the process. But the funniest part comes at the end of the movie where the audience gets a glance at other people's and animal's emotions and how they are created (cat is a highlight).

Conclusion: entertaining movie, almost no 3D effect to mention (again), but one of Pixar's less funny movies.

Es war wieder Kinomontag und wir haben uns den aktuellen Pixar Film angesehen: Inside Out

Es geht darin um das kleine Mädchen Riley und die Stimmen bzw. Emotionen in ihrem Kopf. Diese sind nicht nur in der Vorstellung vorhanden, sondern kleine Figuren die an einem Steuerpult Riley's Leben im Griff haben und für sie Erinnerungen erzeugen. Durch ein Missgeschick kommen zwei dieser Emotionen abhanden und die restlichen drei (Angst, Wut und Ekel) versuchen das Beste zu machen, was aber nicht so ganz gelingt.

Die Geschichte ist ganz nett erzählt und versucht auf witzige Art und Weise manche Handlungsweisen zu erklären. Allerdings ist der witzigste Part des Films am Ende zu finden, wo auch die Emotionen anderer Personen und Tiere gezeigt werden und man so ein besseres Bild bekommt (Stichwort Katze).

Fazit: unterhaltsamer Film, 3D Effekte so gut wie keine vorhanden (wieder einmal), aber eher einer der schwächeren Pixar Filme.

Much Ado About Nothing

Yesterday we had yet another birthday feast - this time at Klaghofer where I got myself a tasty deer schnitzel.

Back home we entertained the cats and then continued on cleaning up the flat.

After a short session in Diablo 3 we went onto the couch and watched the latest episode of Scream Queens followed by Joss Wheadon's version of Much Ado About Nothing.

Gestern waren wir zu einem weiteren Geburtstagsessen - diesmal beim Klaghofer wo ich ein gutes Rehschnitzel gegessen habe.

Wieder zuhause haben wir die Katzen versorgt und weiter an der Wohnung gearbeitet.

Eine kurze Session Diablo 3 später sind wir dann auf die Couch gefallen und haben uns die aktuelle Folge von Scream Queens angeschaut und danach die Joss Wheadon Interpretation von Much Ado About Nothing.

The heroes are back!

On Saturday we first slept very long. After that we had a great breakfast - with the left overs from the days before.

But then the work started and we continued to clean up the flat for most of the day.

In the evening we were quite exhausted so it was time for some tv series and we chose to start with Heroes Reborn - a spin-off of the Heroes from a few years back. I have to say they really managed to capture the feeling from the first season quite well and we are curious how this will play out.

Am Samstag haben wir uns zunächst gut ausgeschlafen. Danach war ein gutes Frühstück - mit den diversen Überbleibsel der letzten Tage - an der Reihe.

Doch dann ging es daran in der Wohnung für Ordnung zu sorgen und das hat uns den Großteil des Tages beschäftigt.

Am Abend waren wir dann etwas fertig, aber für Serien war noch Zeit und so haben wir mit Heroes Reborn begonnen - einem Spin-Off der Heroes Serie von vor ein paar Jahren und man muss sagen, sie haben es durchaus geschafft die ursprüngliche Güte zu erreichen. Wir sind gespannt wie es weitergehen wird.

Another birthday feast

Yesterday I was out for lunch with my dear and her parent at Koi for my birthday.

Afterwards I went to Mariahilf and visit Planet Harry to chat some. I didn't find anyhing this time, but that was ok. After that I went to myMuesli to restock our muesli supply.

Back home I played a bit Diablo 3 before it was couch time with the most recent episodes of Dominion and Sleepy Hollow. To go with that I bought a very special cake at Cafe Central - Nusskuss (nut kiss).

Gestern war ich nach der Arbeit mit meinem Schatz und meinen Schwiegereltern im Koi zum Geburtstagsessen.

Danach bin ich dann nach Mariahilf gefahren und habe zunächst beim lieben Planet Harry vorbeigeschaut und mit ihm geplaudert. Gefunden habe ich mir diesmal nichts, aber das macht ja nichts. Danach ging es zu myMuesli, wo ich unseren Muesli Vorrat aufgestockt habe.

Wieder zuhause habe ich dann ein bisschen Diablo 3 gespielt, bevor es am Abend zum Serienalltag überging. Es gab die letzte Folge der zweiten Staffel vom Dominion sowie die aktuellste Episode von Sleepy Hollow. Dazu habe ich mir noch ein Stück von einer ganz speziellen Torte aus dem Cafe Central gegönnt - Nusskuss.

Well kind of a birthday

Yesterday was my birthday, but not everything went as planned on that day. It was much stress than relaxation. Fortunately there's Planet Harry and so I went there one day early and got myself the revised edition of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective.

Back home by dear tried to do something good for me. Besides the pictured, self-made cake she also bought my two new games I wanted to have:: Isle of Skye and Tesla vs. Edison: War of Currents. So there's enough new stuff for future boardgame sessions.

In the evening we (more or less) watched the current episodes of Castle and Minority Report before we went to bed.

Gestern war ja mein Geburtstag, aber es ist nicht alles so verlaufen wie geplant. Daher war gestern eher stressig als entspannend. Zum Glück gibt es aber den Planet Harry und so bin ich schon einen Tag früher zu meinem Lieblingshändler aufgebrochen und haben mir die Neuauflage von Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective besorgt.

Zuhause hat mein Schatz dann versucht mich zu verwöhnen. Neben der unten abgebildeten, selbstgemachten Torte hat sie mir auch noch zwei weitere Spiele besorgt: Isle of Skye und Tesla vs. Edison: War of Currents. Also genug Nachschub für die nächste Brettspielrunde.

Am Abend dann haben wir uns die aktuellen Folgen von Castle und Minority Report (mehr oder weniger) angeschaut bevor wir das Bett heimgesucht haben.
